Chapter 2: An unwelcome visitor

The sound of a falling body startled Hensui but and he slowly opened his eyes, only to see someone he did not expect standing next to the now deceased werewolf

"Grand master Amion!!" he exclaimed while trying to reach for him, unfortunately his body has not yet recovered and he fell head first onto the, as he struggled to get back up a soft hand could be felt on his shoulder. "You don't have to get up anymore, the battle is over".

"How could this be?" Hensui wondered, "because last time I checked, our forces were running around like headless chickens". As if he could the boy's thoughts, grand master Amion said "We have lost this and I know it will only be a matter of time before they find us, that is why I want to entrust you with something precious"

Hensui could feel something being shoved into his limp hand, " I know you many questions about..."

He could hear Grand master Amion's voice trailing off but could no longer make any sense of the words being said. He could feel his consciousness slipping away but a new power was also reverberating within him.

The sounds of fighting and growls were filling his head and he was losing sense of who he was.

He tried to fight against it, but he could feel himself slowly slipping away from reality until everything went back

[Congratulations, you have been awarded the monkey king ststem]

[booting system]

[error, host is not compatible]

[system will now reboot]

Hensui's mind started to black out again, he tried to scream but his body was not responding at all

[Name: Hensui Mara]

[Race: Human]

[Level: 1(0/10)]

That's the first thing Hensui saw when he opened his eyes, strangely enough though he could see everything else that was going on. He tried to grab it but when he realised that it did not work, he touched his face but the messages seemed to stay there. When he closed his eyes though the messages seemed to disappear but quickly came back when he opened them again. This gave him an idea so he tried to dismiss them mentally and it worked!!!

This gave him the initiative to explore it further and opened the the stats tab and his stats were as follows

[strength: 1]

[Speed: 3]

[energy: 1]

[perception: 1]

"Interesting, I guess I've always been faster than everyone else" Hensui chuckled to himself before checking the skills tab

[inspect: level 1]

[Monkey hop: Level 1]

The list seemed to be endless but everything else was greyed out. There was an option to find out some more information so he selected them and the descriptions were as follows

[Inspect: When the skill is used, the host will get a description of the object he is inspecting.

New information discovered by the host will be updated automatically]

[Monkey hop: the user is able to leap for a distance of up to 5 meters, this skill is dependent on the speed stat]

The was levels next to the skills as well so he assumed that they could be leveled up as well. Things were really starting to look up for him. It was then that he started to take note of his surroundings and discovered that he was in the middle of the forest, his heart started to race when he noticed that he was in a camp of some kind. Getting up slowly he looked around for a spot to hide, darting his eyes one last time he quickly slid underneath some nearby bushes.

He tried to remember how he had left the settlement but nothing seemed to come to mind, after a while of pendering he thought it would be best to get moving in case someone came after him.

Stepping lightly, he made his way from the clearing and when he was far enough he decided to try out his skills. Since there wasn't anything for him to inspect he decided to try out the shadow hop skill. He opened up the skills tab again but unfortunately there didn't seem to be any instructions on how to use the skill, but as he was still thinking about it though a notification sprung up

[shadow hop skill activated]

The next that happened was a shock to him because he found standing several meters from where he was before, an evil smile crept to his face as many crazy thoughts were running through his heard. Suddenly he heard a ding sound and some notifications came up

[New quest recieved]

[Find

out what happened to the settlement]

[Find your saviour]

"I guess that means I can Level up by completing these quests then, this isn't so bad after after" he said while walking in a random direction. After walking for a while he noted that he seemed to be in the deep mountain paths which meant that he was in a dangerous place as there were many robbers who took advantage of the weak and unsuspecting. This area was located somewhere close to the Anima faction headquarters and the place he had come from had been a training academy. The Anima had the ability to copy the dna of any animal of their choice and they would inherit the traits of that particular animal. A person was able to partially transform into their animal state and draw out more of their power. However a person could only bond with one animal and as such it was a big decision for them to make.

At the academy students were taught basic combat and had to compete against each other in order to make a name for themselves and get a higher ranking. The ranks went from A to E, A being the strongest and E being the weakest. This grading system came into play when the students chose their bonding animal as the best students had first pick. Hensui was a rank E student and as such he had picked a monkey type which was considered as one the weakest forms. An animal that was bonded to a person could no longer be used by another person which meant that most animals out in the forest could not longer be bonded, this means that the students had no choice but to rely on the academy as it was the only place where they could get a bonded even if it was a weak animal.

Now back to the story, after walking for a while Hensui spotted a lonely cabin in the woods and decided to creap there slowly, he picked up a stick as well since he did not have any weapon on in advanced cautiously. On getting to the door, he pressed his ear against it and listened in for full minute until he was satisfied that the was no one inside

Opening the door juc enough to take a peak, he looked in through the tiny slit and reassured himself before pushing it open and stepping in. To his utter dismay, the room was void of any furniture and seemed to have been abandoned for some time as there was cobwebs on the walls and ceiling.

He got down on his knees and crawled across the floor expecting to find a trapdoor of some kind but his search revealed nothing. Disappointed about the results, he started making his way towards the door when he head the sound of approaching footsteps outside and immediately turned around to look for a hiding place. The was not much hope there as the room was empty so crouched in the corner and hope that whatever was approaching would not go into the wooden cabin

The door hinges creaked as it was flung open and a figure stepped into the room.
