Chapter 17: Departure

The group looks on as the Ebon Hawk lifts up, shielding their eyes from the sand sent flying due to the engines. They watch as it achieves an acceptable distance from the planet, then rockets away.

With determination filled eyes, they turn away, only to be stopped by the words of the other half of the group.

"Um, are we just going to leave him there?" Vos gestures to the unconscious Zabrak.

Bastila sends the downed man a glance, but quickly dismisses him. "He is of no consequence. Neither a threat, nor a matter of concern. And judging by how weak his connection to the Force is despite being steeped in the Dark Side, I doubt that he will have any useful information."

Mission nods emphatically with her arms crossed under her chest. "Yeah, see, I get what you're saying. But think of it like this: if we leave him out here he'll probably die." The two Jedi Masters nod in agreement, glad that at least one of their temporary companions is considerate of others' wellbeing. They nearly fall when she continues. "So we should kill him now so he doesn't suffer!"

Bastila puts a hand on her chin, considering Mission's proposal. "That is true. And since Jedi believe in providing aid any chance they can, our companions should have no qualms about it."

""Hold on for just one moment!"" The Jedi in question shout simultaneously.

Bastila and Mission give them confused looks, waiting for them to continue. Qui Gon is the one to speak, having dealt with them more than Vos. "Even if we would not get anything from him, it would be cruel to leave him here. In addition, even if he cannot give us much, even a little information can help."

The two women just give him blank stares, and Vos can feel a vein throb at the blatant disrespect they're showing them. Then Mission starts laughing while Bastila chuckles. "I told you they would fall for it!" Mission gets out between laughs.

Though her chuckles lasted far less time, Bastila still speaks with a small smile. "Indeed. I suppose joking occasionally like this is a bit fun."

The Jedi stare at them, slack jawed, as Bastila uses the Force to lift the Zabrak, bringing his lightsaber to herself directly. Without even examining it, it vanishes down a hidden pocket. Then she looks to the Jedi. "Well? Which direction is the ship?"

After a moment of silence, the two men chuckle a bit as well before Vos takes the lead. After fifteen minutes of walking- and ten minutes of Mission complaining- Bastila halts them. "How far is the ship?" She looks at Vos.

Irritated at the Twi'lek's complaints, he replies with a bit of bite. "So long as we don't keep stopping, another two hours." Another groan accompanies the announcement.

Rolling her eyes, Bastila addresses them. "I know a way we can get there MUCH faster. Tell me, have either of you ever heard of a Force technique called Burst of Speed?

(15 minutes later)

Bastila and Mission look upon what the Jedi call a T-6 shuttle. It's shaped into a half moon, with the cockpit at the front of the curved frame while the engine is placed in the center of the flat end. According to them, there's more than enough room for all of them, though there is something unexpected when they arrive.

A young man faces the group warily, his blue lightsaber drawn.

Honestly, it's not an unreasonable reaction. Five people just came out of nowhere running just as fast as a speeder bike, and one of them is unconscious and floating.

"That was awesome!"

… Make that six.

Bastila looks at the young boy clinging to Mission's back in curiosity. "Anakin, why did you sneak along with us?" Her tone isn't mad or confused, but simply curious.

Encouraged by this, he speaks up while letting go of Mission and landing on the ground.

"Well, Mister Jinn said that I could train to be a Jedi, and if he left I probably wouldn't get another chance. My mom said to follow my heart and that she would support my decision. So here I am!" He smiles innocently.

Nodding, Bastila looks to Mission. "And why did you not say anything before the ship departed?"

She shrugs. "Dunno. Figured that there was probably some weird Force stuff going on. And since I'm not a Jedi, I figured it wasn't my problem." She crosses her arms behind her head while placing the toe of her boot behind her leg, giving Bastila an innocent smile.

Staying silent for a minute, Anakin starts to fidget, worried that he or his mom would get in trouble. Finally, she sighs. "Very well, though I will need to inform Revan if he is not already aware."

"Already did!" Mission winks.

Rolling her eyes, Bastila turns to the Jedi who've just finished reorienting themselves after their first taste of Burst of Speed. "Master Qui Gon, kindly have your apprentice stand down. There's no reason for anyone to get hurt due to being wary of each other."

Mission raises her hand. "I wouldn't mind fighting him! I didn't get to fight back on the Star Forge so I'm feeling kind of antsy."

In response Bastila smacks the back of her head. "You said something unnecessary again."

Mission pouts while she rubs the back of her head but doesn't say anything, knowing that she did probably just slip up.

Making note of this "Star Forge" to discuss with the Council in private, Qui Gon focuses on his apprentice. "It is ok, Obi Wan. These two are part of the group I mentioned to you before. They will accompany us to meet with the Council."

Relaxing, he lowers his lightsaber some but doesn't turn it off. "And the Zabrak?" He questions.

This time Mission answers. "Oh, just some wimpy Sith that got his ass beat by a big furry softie."

Obi Wan gives her an odd look, both at the description of her friend, and at the unfamiliar term 'Sith'. Qui Gon sighs and gestures for him to board the ship. "I will explain on the way."
