Chapter 20: Ten Fate Escapees

001 was walking towards the mission center, enjoying his new rank-2 peak status. He had thought about cultivating more but decided to take a break.

While walking he stopped and looked up squinting his eyes as if looking for something, but after seeing nothing he then decided to go into the mission center.

"Hi, I believe when I rank up I'm supposed to get a Gu from the clan treasury?" ~ 001

the mission center would take care of most things, like giving missions and doing the payment for them, and of course requests pertaining to the clan treasury.

"Give your ID!" ~ Wor Ker didn't look up from his desk, and continued to stamp papers, but when he saw the id, his eyes widened, ~ "001 it's pleasure to meet you" ~ At this point, everyone knew of the new A-grade Gu master walking around town.

"I do apologize, but I have to check your aperture, to make sure you indeed have a rank 2 aperture before giving you the papers that give you permission to enter the clan treasury."

001 held out his hand and willingly accepted the search.

[A peak rank-2 aperture and A White Silver Relic Gu! I can see you must have used up all the funds the clan used to buy you. In the end, this is what they wanted, until recently you were only a mortal so you knew no better. According to law, if you enter debt for longer than a month, you'll become a slave to the Xiong clan] ~ Wor Ker shook his head, took out a piece of paper stamped it, and gave a slip to 001.

"I also never claimed my rank-1 Gu from the clan treasury." ~ 001 never bothered to claim a Gu when he first got here because it was all still very alien to him, but now with more knowledge, he can easily choose a Gu that would be best for him.

Wor Ker hands him another Gu, and then gets back to work, to him there's no point in making relations with a soon-to-be slave.

{Central Continent}

An old man holding a walking stick is slowly climbing up some stairs, his hair white, wrinkles covering his body like an old tree's bark, his eyes are blurry and his gaze cloudy, looking to his left he sees images, and to his right more images.

Images on the walls constantly changing, sometimes there was a lump of vague, foggy figures, sometimes there were innumerable colorful lines, and rarely, there would appear clear pictures.

These images would play events of the world. Well to be more accurate, the images would play events of fate escapes all around the world.

The higher up the stairs he went, the more images would display stronger and stronger fate escapees.

He would climb these stairs every other month.

Most of the time he would find some people for the 10 sects to deal with, nothing very serious.

And sometimes he would see something very odd.

When he made it to the top, he took a long pause, making sure he wasn't seeing things. Ten clear images playing. ~ "There has never been a time where a mortal has been shown at the very top of stairs! Let alone ten! Something. . . is very wrong here."

One mortal was walking through a street, in an upright posture that exudes dominance. Everywhere he walked people would notice his existence. his eyes like those of a predator.

3 were fighting beasts in an arena, with nigh perfect sync, as if they had fought together their entire lives. Their movements are like trained acrobats, their aim like seasoned hunters.

4 were killing Shark Wolves. Each individual using their own unique method to bring down wolves. Some of which he has never seen before.

1 was refining gu in a pot of boiling water, using a technique that can best be described as barbaric to the average Gu refiner, but to seasoned eyes like his, he saw it for what it was, master-level refinement.

1 is playing an instrument that was similar to a violin that appeared to be a more improved version. His hand movements showed much energy and expression, but his face was like a porcelain vase, unperturbed by the outside world, serenity.

Just as he was about to issue missions for the death of these ten mortals, two of them looked up, as if they knew they were being watched, then suddenly the images were replaced with other fate escapes, immortal ones.

What he didn't notice was that every image in the entire tower went blank for a fraction, of a fraction, of a second, so fast even light would be left in the dust.

He sighed, ~ "You'll be fixed soon enough fate Gu" ~ As He walked back down, he assumed the reason that mortals showed up was most likely just a mistake caused by fate Gu being damaged. After all, how could mortals ever be a threat to fate Gu?
