Chapter 4: Talking with the hokage
When Kakashi heard the news from guy, he wasn't really surprised. He already knew this was going to happen beforehand. Kakashi stood up, dusted himself off and looked at guy.
'Feel free to continue your training here. I have some tasks to attend to today, but we'll meet again another time. Take care and see you tomorrow.', Kakashi said to guy as he swiftly departed.
Not much later, Kakashi's standing in front of the Hokage's office and knocks on the door.
He immediately enters and kneels in front of the third Hokage.
"Kakashi, the war has come to an end, and at the moment, there aren't many missions available for you.", said the Third Hokage. "You should consider taking a break, engaging in a well earned vacation, or lend a hand to the citizens in need or even just train for a bit."
'Lord Hokage, forgive me for the intrusion but my main purpose in coming here today is to inquire about the truth behind the rumors regarding your abdication as Hokage. Could you please confirm whether or not this is indeed the case?', Kakashi asked.
"It is indeed true, young Kakashi," the Third Hokage confirmed with a solemn tone. "And you should be aware that I have decided to appoint your esteemed sensei as the next Fourth Hokage."
'That is excellent news, Lord Hokage. However, I recall that Lord Fugaku and Lord Orochimaru were also being considered as potential candidates for the position. Has the council already conducted their vote and selected Minato sensei as the next Hokage?'
"That's a keen observation, Kakashi," the Third Hokage responded. "While Lord Fugaku-san and Lord Orochimaru-san were indeed considered as potential candidates, the council has already cast their votes in favor of your Minato sensei as the next Hokage.
The decision has been made, and most of the council members have expressed their confidence in his capabilities and leadership."
'Kakashi paused for a moment, his expression filled with a mix of surprise and pride. I see... Sensei has always been exceptional, and I believe he will make an outstanding Hokage, he replied with a hint of admiration in his voice.
I trust the council's decision, and I will support Minato sensei wholeheartedly in his new role. Konoha will be in good hands with him as our hokage.'
Hiruzen inquired further, "It seems there's something else on your mind, Kakashi?"
'Yes, Lord Hokage,' Kakashi began, gathering his thoughts. 'I must admit, I didn't expect you to retire at this stage. You remain the most formidable Kage in the current era, and your leadership is unparalleled.'
To this, the Third Hokage responded, "Kakashi, every leader must eventually make way for their successor, and for me, that time has come."
Nodding in agreement, Kakashi stood up and left the hokage offices and went home.
