Chapter 38: Agent 001 And Agent 003 (2)
"Meet Agent 001 and Agent 003."
Naeun stared at the two guys. "Wait what?" She thought. "This guy is Agent 003? The same guy I was supposed to marry? The very guy I met at the party? A mafia boss?"
Her thoughts then drifted on to the next guy which was the biggest shock ever.
"How could he betray Taehyun like that? Does Taehyun know about this?" She was living with this guy under the same roof, not knowing who he was. That's why they say, Never judge a book by its cover.
"Nice to meet you...not"
"Naeun they are senior agents," Hanjae said.
"So is Agent 002 but I don't respect him."
Jihoon suddenly glared at Naeun.
"Ha, I like it!" Mark exclaimed, pointing at Naeun.
"Why are Agent 003 and Agent 001 gangsters?" She asked.
"Why are you?" Jaemin asked, throwing the apple core into the bin.
"I have a mission to take down your boss. Yours is probably the same. I wonder what you're mission would be."
"My mission is the same, yes. My job is to supply KIA with undercover news about Bulletproof. Though seeing you here is a surprise, Princess."
Naeun questioned why she couldn't sense that looking into Jaemin's eyes. Was it a cliché of some sort?
She focused on Jaemin's eyes but surprisingly he lowered them. Why would he? Was he hiding something from her again? Brushing away the thought for the present she looked at Mark and he assumed she was inquiring about him.
"My mission is to control the Japanese mafia. And you're about to get a similar one."
Controlling the mafia? Why would KIA want that?
"Mind explaining, sir?" Naeun asked Hanjae.
"Well it's a bit early but I'll explain anyway. Your fourth task is to kill a person. Jeon Jungwoo. His memory could return."
Naeun looked down. Right. She almost forgot about that. The thought of killing Jungwoo was a bit sad to hear.
"Then after you do that you'll get your fifth task. To secretly hand over Kim Taehyun to KIA. But here's the twist. After we have arrested Taehyun and he becomes our captive, you'll take over his position."
"And then?" Naeun questioned further on, sensing where this was going.
"Control the Korean mafia through Korea's biggest gang. Simple."
"So KIA doesn't want to end Bulletproof, rather control it. Why may I ask?"
There could be only one answer.
"You don't have the right to question what higher up's in KIA decide. Your job is to obey."
Jaemin smirked, "But let's be honest. What use would KIA have in shutting down a gang, when they could command it? After all, these gangsters make a heck lot of money."
"And where will the money go?" She asked.
Naeun looked at Jihoon. If there was one thing she knew about him, was that he was fair. But for the first time, he was remaining silent.
"They would probably use it for the country." He said, not meeting Naeun's eye.
"No my friend," Mark said, shaking his head. "They'll probably send it to the government officials who'll live in luxury."
As much as Naeun hated to admit it, Mark and Jaemin were the only honest ones here. KIA wanted to get the money that the Bulletproof gang made through Naeun as she became boss. So the Government and KIA officials could use it. At least the gang was helping orphans and needy people, Naeun thought.
"That was your mission from the beginning. KIA holds a grievance towards Bulletproof. But controlling the gang would be beneficial for the agency. It's a win-win."
Naeun knew that KIA held a grudge against Bulletproof out of all the gangs. Maybe because Bulletproof controlled all the crime in Korea and KIA wanted to do that. But KIA's real intentions were shocking to Naeun. She was always taught that KIA was 'right'.
"So basically I kill Jungwoo, hand over Taehyun to KIA, become the boss, do all the dirty work, and hand over all the money to KIA."
Hanjae sighed, "Yes."
"Princess!" Jaemin exclaimed. "You wouldn't have a problem with that, now would you?"
"No." Naeun stood up. "Not at all."
She said in a sarcastic, mocking tone. Naeun was about to walk out the door when suddenly Mark's large-built figure blocked her way.
"Don't mess with KIA, princess."
"Out of my way little Mackie Mouse."
Naeun purposefully bumped her shoulder into Mark's before walking out the room, slamming the door shut behind her.
"Can't believe I was about to marry 'that'." He remarked taking a seat beside Jihoon.
"You're so reckless. Why didn't you inform us that you were getting married?" Hanjae asked, looking concerned.
"Why should he report every single thing?" Jaemin butt in and Mark smirked in response.
"KIA requires information about every agent's life. What would've happened if you had married Agent 007?"
"What else?" This time Mark looked at Jihoon. "It would've been a blast!"
"Agents can't be with Agents," Jihoon stated.
"Correct. Agents 'can't' be with Agents."
Jihoon looked down avoiding Mark's eyes. There was a special reason Mark was Agent 003. He could tell just by glancing at somebody, what they were about to do. He was aware of everything happening around him and played with his pawns carefully.
