Chapter 2: From dream to nightmare (PART 1)
"Your highness we brought your clothes." a maid handed clothes to a seven year old who looked as if he has just woke up, his black hair was a little messy and his dark eyes still looked sleepy.
"Thank you, Adnis." the boy took the clothes and started dressing himself.
"Are you sure you do not need any help your highness?" the maid asked.
"No, I told you already that I can do this by myself." although he was only seven years old, you could not tell that from his mannerism.
"Very well your high..."
"Alexander!" before the maid could finish a voice was heard calling for the young Alexander.
"Mother, good moning!" Alexander turned around and excitedly greeted his mother. she had long dark hair and dark eyes,she was famed beauty Alaine, but she was not only famous for her beauty, but also her strength, worthy of her title as a queen. When you look at that pair of mom and son, you could easily tell that they were related.
"Are you ready for today, son?" his mother asked.
"Yes mother, today is the first time I will be going outside the castle so I am excited." Alexander answered while his eyes shone with excitement.
"Come, we will have breakfast with your father and then all three of us will be visiting the northern region."
Mother took her son and went to the kitchen. In the kitchen was long table filled wih food even though only one person was seated at the table.
"Good morning father." Alexander greeted his father, king Albrad, whose strength was known throughout the three continents. He had a long brown hair and a sturdy figure and although Alexander looked more like his mother, his temper was definitely like his father's, he was extremely stubborn, but also extremely pety and the worst of all shrewd.
"Good morning son, are you excited?" his father Albrad asked.
"Of course I am."
"I also have to apologise son, although it is your first time outside the castle, in northern region i will not be able to spend much time with you. It seems there was some kind of conflict at the border with the Idonia continent." Albrad looked apologetically at his son.
"...It's fine faher, I hope it's nothing serious." Alexander dejectedly answered.
"I hope so too, after breakfast go and get ready, we will depart at noon."
"Yes father." Alexander answered and started eating his meal.
"Do you think it's fine to leave for a prolonged time with al, that stuff happening in the palace?" Alexander's mother Alaine asked.
"I believe it should be fine, with all this stuff happening at the border, noone would benefit from an internal fight now." Albrad answered, although it did not reassured Alaine.
At noon in front of the castle gates, golden carriage with four white letos horses was waiting. Letos horse is a magical beast resembling a horse with addition of having a pair of wings, they were a subspecies of pegasus, only smaller build and even though they were capable of flight, their speed wasn't fast. Royal family got into the carriage and started their trip to the northern region, followed by three hundred of their elite soldiers.
"When we get there we will be greeted by your uncle Legarda, you haven'n seen him in a long time I am not sure you even remember him." king Albrad spoke to Alexander.
"I don't remember him, but I've heard stories and how his strength is comparable to yours."
"Hahaha, well he is strong, but still, he needs to practice a lot more. We will get there in ten days, since we're in a hurry, we won't be making any side stops."
"Very well, father." Their trip continued withot any difficulties and after ten day, they arrived at the main city of the northern region, Fiume. Continent Radborg is bordering with Idonia on northern and eastern side, on northern side were giants and on eastern side were elves, while deeper in Idonia were located dwarfs, and to the west of Radborg was island Talaitha that is inhabitated with titans.
Northern region is filled with snow throughout the whole year and it is difficult for humans to live there, still it is important place for humans, because it is keeping the giants behind the mountain Gilia, which is stretching through the whole northern border.
In Fiume, evetything was prepared for their arrival. Man with short brown hair, was standing in front of the gates, waiting for carriage to arrive. If you look closely you could notice similarities with king Albrad, only did this person looked younger. That person is Duke Legarda, king Albrad's younger brother.
"Have you been well my little brother" Albrad Asked Legarda.
"Well, it's been a little rough out here, but i could've been worse. Now where is that little son of yours, it's been ages since I last saw him."
"I am here uncle." Even before Albrad could answer, Alexander already stood in front of Legarda.
"Woah, you've grown since the last time i saw you, you're a big boy now." Legarda said while patting Alexander's head. "Come, let me show you around the town, we have a lot of fun and interesting things." Legarda took Alexander adn showed him a lot of new things that he had never seen before and when the night has already fallen, Alexander was exhausted and went to bed early.
At night, in a meeting room, Albrad and Legarda, with a few other soldiers were sitting around a table.
"I have noticed there were fewer soldiers in town than the last time i visited." Albrad asked.
"Yes, giants were making some trouble in the mountains, so i sent our soldiers to deal with that." Legarda Answered.
"And it's awfully quiet as well, i feel the atmosphere is kind of tense."Albrad added.
"There's been a group with suspicious movements, but they haven't made any trouble so far. You're tired from travelling, why don't you go get some rest and we will continue our talk tomorrow."
"Fine, I could use some sleep, then you also get some rest, I know that Alexander tired you today." With that king Albrad went to his chambers. There was Alaine alrady sleeping and Albrad after changing his clothes lied down beside her. But his sleep didn't last long.
*boooooom* A loud explosion could be heard.
Both Albrad and Alaine immediately woke up and got up from their bead.
"What was that?" Alaine asked.
"Explosion, get ready we might be under attack." Albrad answered and immediately started dressing up in his armor.
They both got out of their chambers and they noticed soldiers armed soldiers running towards the place where the sound came from. "I will go and get Alexander." Alaine said and went towards Alexander's chambers, while Albrad went towards the commanders office.
In Alexander's chambers, he was also woken up by that explosion and as soon as his mother came in "What was that mother?" he asked.
"Come son and get ready, I will take you to a much safer place."
Alexander saw the look of worry on his mother's face and immediately started dressing himself.
In the commander's office, when Albrad arrived, Legarda was already there. "What happened?" Albrad asked.
"We've been under attack. The enemy is quite skilled and they are using our weaponry." Legarda answered.
"What? You don't think he started to make his move. It won't benefit to anyone."
"I am not sure, but that is a possibility."
At that time a soldier came in "Sir, they've breached the gated, they're inside the inner city."
"Already, how?" Legarda asked
"It seems they had help from the inside, sir,"
"We're going over there immediately." Albrad said.
They took the remaining soldiers in the castle and went to the gates. On their way over there, they saw Alaine walking towards them. "Albrad, I took Alexander to safety, there are ten guards guarding him."
"Good, come with us, it's more serious than we thought." They left for the gates. When they arrived they saw that it was much bigger than they thought. Not only were there high skilled soldiera, but also high leveled beasts, including wyverns. But what shocked them the most was the person leading That army, it was the last person they we're hoping for.
Albrad Immediately activated his angelic bloodline, his hair and eyes turned golden and on his back, a pair of white feathered wings grew. The air around him completely changed. He immediately took flight and showed up in front of the person leading the enemy army. Like Albrad he also had the same wings on his back, but unlike Albrad, this person had Red hair and red eyes.
"Zamartze, you finally could't wait anymore, huh?" Albrad Asked.
"I could wait, but since such a perfect opportunity showed up, why should I?" Zamartze answered And immediately swinged his spear at Albrad. Albrad Already prepared for it blocked that strike. When they weapons met it created a loud shockwave, all the soldiers and beasts around them were shaken by it. They started exchanging strikes with no side showing any weakness.
"Zamartze, do you know how big of a weakness we're showing by having this meaningless fight?"
"Of course, but who will use this weakness?"
"The giants, who else?" Albrad angrily answered.
"Oh, you mena these giants?" And as he said he pointed to the outer city behind him, where a hundred od giants destroyed everthing in their path.
"Yo-you betrayed your own people, you sided with the giants."Albrad stared shocked at the buildings being destroyed and people being killed by giants.
"We only share similar goals." Zamartze answered and while he said that he took the opportunity and took a stike at Albrad. Albrad couldn't completely block and he was sent flying. In the air he was caught by Legarda.
"Little brother, take my son and get him away from here." Albrad said while wiping blood from his mouth.
"What do you mean, why?" Legarda confusingly asked.
"I belive this is where we fall, take Alexander, take him somewhere safe, he can't die here."
"But what about you and Alaine?"
"You're the only one who is capable of escaping this place, take your beast and leave."
"But bro..."
"That's an order!"
"Yes brother"
