Chapter 21: 21. A Comeback

The night fell and everything was silent.

On the top floor of a certain old rundown building, the stairway door to the rooftop was open, a figure in black took off the helmet and approached the figure in red in the guardrail.

"You have a gut to show your face after what you pulled."

"I'm sorry, Miss. I don't know if someone will come and save her."

"Are you dumb?! Attacking on the street in the middle of the day and you didn't expect no one to save her? ARE YOU DUMB?!"

The expensive looking bag was thrown to the man's head to the point it's bleeding, but he didn't budge or dodged.

"Lay low for a while, I'm going to make a new plan,"

"Yes, Miss."

"She's such a nuisance, she almost got my tail with the camera. What a bitch.."

The secretive yet murderous meeting ended without many people knowing.

Wu Yige sat on the couch, holding his chin and staring at the sleeping Katrina on the hospital's bed.

She didn't look much different than her teens. People smoother their edges as they're getting older, but Katrina was rougher on the edges after not meeting him for almost 10 years. For a showbiz old timer like Wu Yige who had seen many beauties, this appearance was really inconspicuous.

Just like beauties, he had seen many things happen in the entertainment industry. The company shielded him tightly, but he knew what he should know.

Sulfuric acid wasn't a homegrade substance, it was hard to handle or get. Based on how stalled the investigation was, the attacker was well connected and meticulous, after all it was a public space and there's CCTV everywhere, but the police couldn't find the attacker.

What worried him the most was the possibility that there was a mastermind behind this attack, and this was all because of him.

It took Katrina two seconds to recognize an unfamiliar ceiling and finally put away the blanket.

"Where are you going? Let me help you."

The familiar face and voice irritated her, "Why are you still here?"

"That's not important, tell me where you're going. I'll help you."

Katrina scrapped the idea to the bathroom and sat on her bed, eyeing the man with an obvious sign of thinking. "I can understand two things, you feel guilty and you have had an unpleasant incident with sulfuric acid. I understand, but I'm not comfortable with your behavior right now, Wu Yige. If you really feel guilty, send me home and let's get back to work. I have to find out who my opponent is and repay them for this thing."

"Are you crazy?!"

"No, I'm very sober. I don't want to be in the passive position, I'll get back at them immediately."

"Katrina!"

"Wu Yige, this is personal. I'll get them and get back at them. Nothing you say will make me change my mind."

This wasn't the little girl Wu Yige could suppress or teased just because she was timid and evasive.

"At least get the scar removal surgery for your legs, I've called the best cosmetic surgeon."

The phone rang, Wu Yige covered herself with a quilt, pretended not to hear it, and continued to sleep. The phone finally stopped ringing, and Wu Yige breathed a sigh of relief. However, not long after, it started ringing again, with no sign of stopping, as if it would not give up until the owner answered.

Wu Yige was so annoyed that he couldn't sleep, so he could only accept his fate and pick up the phone to answer: "Hello?" A vague voice came from the quilt.

The person on the other end of the phone heard that Wu Yige finally answered the phone and said: "Oh, Young master Wu, you finally answered the phone..."

Wu Yige mumbled and asked: "What's the matter, Katrina?" His voice sounded like he was asleep.

Upon hearing this, Katrina knew that he had not woken up, and said helplessly: "Get up quickly. We have a script reading for Revival."

"So annoying!"

"If you're not taking my keys away, I don't have to interrupt your beauty sleep."

Wu Yige snickered and cut the connection, irritated.

A few days ago, they parted ways from the hospital on bad terms. Wu Yige went as far as taking Katrina's key to his house and left the recently out patient looking for a taxi alone.

Katrina didn't take anything he did to heart though, her paycheck included a mental compensation anyway.

"Miss Katrina."

"Where is he, Auntie?"

The elder woman pointed at the second floor with a knowing smile, making Katrina skip two steps all the way to his bedroom. After the heartbreak period, she still did not instate the door just in case and it gave her advantage now.

Katrina unceremoniously pulled his leg and half of his body was on the floor with messy hair.

"Get up or I swear I'll burn all your ex's pictures!"

The man snapped awake and saw her like he was seeing the devil.

Katrina opened the bathroom door, "Get in."

After Wu Yige finished washing, he put on the clothes Katrina had prepared. She looked at the time and saw that it was almost too late to put on makeup, so she dragged Wu Yige and turned around to leave.

Wu Yige followed her in confusion, and didn't react until he was put into the car.

At this time, Katrina brought another bag of things to him: "Here, your favorite breakfast wrap, eat it quickly..."

Wu Yige ate the breakfast timidly.

Burning Melanie Lu's picture must've made him panic, Katrina's threat was a bit overboard but this meeting was important. It was the first drama after the whole break up and mistress scandal.

After hurrying slowly, they were finally not late, and both of them breathed a sigh of relief. Wu Yige and Katrina came to Director Yang's company. After identifying themselves at the front desk, they took the elevator to the conference room on the top floor. In the conference room, Director Yang was already waiting. The two apologized to Director Yang, who waved his hand to indicate it was okay.

The three other main cast members were also already inside the conference room with their managers. The male and female protagonists all came together, and Director Yang took out the script for them to read.

This was an eastern fantasy martial arts-themed TV series. The premise was a twin brother who separated at birth, but grew up to be supreme martial artists.

Wu Yige played Shi Aotian, an orphan collectively raised by the bandit lair widows and was trained and brought up to think that he will be the top villain in the martial arts world. Over the years, he has learned many tricks and becomes a mischievous prankster, though with a good heart. On the day he left his Villains' Valley he met Cheng Ye which he didn't know was his twn brother.

Cheng Ye, played by Zhang Siyuan, raised in Duke Zheng Mansion, a family with a generation of Imperial Demon Master. He was favored by thousands of people, climbed to the top and became known as the Undefeated Imperial Demon Master. Noble bearing, unparalleled skill, and flawless appearance, the people called him Jade Face Demon Slayer.

They were attracted by each other's differences, and through some adventures, they became life-and-death friends. When Cheng Ye was imprisoned in order to protect Shi Aotian. In order to save Cheng Ye, Shi Aotian and his partners come together to participate in the national selection of Imperial Demon Master - TIANYE, but there, they uncover the great conspiracy of the department and seek to find the truth about the human-demon war five hundred years ago.

Shi Aotian's other partners were the female leads.

Cheng Ye's fiancee played by Liu Fei - Jiva Mara, the princess of MARAYI. The orthodox clan of demon slayer that was closely tied with the conspiracy of the war between humans and demons.

Kiu Nyu played by Audrey Kang, was a childhood friend of Shi Aotian back in Villains' Valley but moved away when they're 12 and they met in the imperial capital. She teamed up with the trio because of circumstances while investigating TIANYE for their betrayal on her family, the previous leader of the demon slayer' clan - SHINYUE.

Suppressed for five hundred years, the demon army was seeking to destroy Earth, and the Chief of Imperial Demon Master was trying to take advantage of the chaos to dominate the world. Just when the ambitions of the human and demon worlds bring a catastrophe on earth, a group of dreamy and passionate teenagers were willing to sacrifice themselves to save the earth.

Once the demon and human war ended, it was the time to reset the hierarchy between the demon slayers clans and the four of them faced with war of personal feeling and common interest.

Seeing that the two of them had finished reading the script, Director Yang asked, "How was it? Do you agree to be the male and female protagonists of this drama?" Huo Yichen and Leng Xiyan both nodded.

Director Yang smiled with satisfaction, took out four contracts, and said: "This is the contract. If you guys have no objections, you can sign your names..."

The agency already signed a script reading contract, it was an agreement where the actors and actresses that didn't fall through with the casting would keep the content and casting as a secret. The script reading was to see whether the cast could and would cooperate with each other. Only if they were really happy with the overall atmosphere the project could be a success.

This wasn't the case with the majority of projects, but Revival was a three part series and the cumulative episode would be 120. Unless the cast had solid team work, the end goal was hard to achieve.

Everyone discussed the contract with their managers in different corners and reached the same conclusion to sign. It was official. They were the cast for Revival.
