Chapter 3: My fair lady

"Stop it." I heard a deep voice from behind me. The pub went silent and the temperature dropped a few degrees. I felt as I was freezing in mid summer. I turned my head and saw that the voice belonged to that mysterious man from the corner. A murderous glint was seen in his hazel-coloured eyes as he stared at the man, which was still grabbing my arm.

"What you gonna do if I don't stop!?" The man was clearly drunk, underestimating the threat that the mysterious man opposed. How can one be so blind to how dangerous the situation was?

"I will send you to sleep with your fish brothers, merman." Wait. Did he just threaten and mock that kiddo? I regret not bringing a popcorn.

"Ha! I am not scared of you and your threats! You can't do anything to me! I bet I can beat you up and leave the scene with a scratch!"

"Now then, I don't think we want to come to that stage, do we?" The mysterious man brought his face up close to my assaulter, and finally, the latter let go of my arm as he realised his mistake.

"N-No, sir. I apologise" The kid was shaking while he was walking back to his friends, who were also scared from the man that just threatened their friend. That scary, dangerous, inhuman man just saved me! Maybe he is not as awful as I thought. Maybe Sam wasn't wrong after all. As he straightened his back, I noticed how tall he actually was. His lean, fit body was an eye candy to every woman, and I bet every man would be envious of such a nice figure. I didn't stare openly, I have enough pride and I couldn't embarrass myself in front of everyone just because of this handsome man!

"Ahem." The man turned himself towards me with a smirk on his face. Did he notice my short term stare? Oh no. oh god please, no.

"Thank you for helping me with that drunk man. I appreciate it." I decided to thank him and look straight into his eyes. Showing him that I don't fear him will do only good. He looked at me and the feeling of him knowing exactly what I think resurfaced again.

"Don't thank me. It's only natural that a man will come to the aid of a fair lady." He playfully took my right hand and kissed the back of it. Was he mocking me?

"Were you hurt by that kid? You have a red mark on your arm." I looked at my arm, and the man wasn't lying. I haven't even noticed it, and perhaps I wouldn't notice if not for the man in front of me, still holding my hand.

"Oh it's ok, it doesn't hurt." I withdrew my hand from his, and he didn't resist. If I was like my sister, I would be on cloud nine, melting from the ordinary attention and small flirtation that the man gave me. But I'm not her, and I could care less when it came to strangers. When Lily started going to college, my mother asked me to protect her at all cost, as she could be a bit naive when it comes to people. She was easily swooned by men who showed attention to her, and I would rather laugh at their faces for their attempt. This man was not an exclusion! I will not fall for those tricks!

"Are you sure? I will make him regret dragging you and harming.."

"I am fine. If you don't mind I will sit down."

"Of course, if you don't mind I will do the same" he sat right next to me. On Sam's seat. Wait, where is Sam?

"Why are you frowning, my fair lady?"

"It's nothing, just searching for my friend"

"I saw her entering the restroom" I can bet that she did intentionally. I would have go to check on her, but there is no use. Surely she wanted to gift me to that man! Once I get my hands on her I will...

"Hey, don't be so angry at your friend. She only wants the best for you" I felt like throwing up, but I forced myself to keep on sitting. Showing weakness is the last thing I want to do!

"Oh look at you, knowing every intention and thought of a person. Having the extra sense, aren't we? What else do you know?"

"Your friend made you come here. I assume that you were cheated on by your ex boyfriend. Now your friend wants to show you that you're worth much more than what your ex thought, and she wants to set you up with a man for a one night stand. Am I correct?" I was speechless. Was he monitoring our lives? Is he a magician? A god maybe? No that is impossible! He is probably a psychologist or he is learning psychology! He said that he assumes, stating that there is a probability that he is wrong. That must be it! He is just a psychologist! A very scary psychologist.
