Chapter 68: Come One, Come All!

"What do you think is going on over there?" The large sign in the sky had already begun to attract a lot of attention from the surrounding streets. It was already starting to get dark, so it stood out like a sore thumb.

"Why don't we go check it out, nothing interesting has happened recently has it? This could be fun." A group of youths decided to start heading to the direction the sign in the air was pointing. They were astounded at what they turned up to.

There was already a commotion in the street outside of the warehouse as a lot of people had turned up to see what was happening and were complaining about the price of admission trying their luck to which James simply kicked them once each in the knee so they all fell to the ground amidst threats that he would regret it.

Funnily enough, the youths soon began to forget about it after they saw their friends show up, but they were straight away denied access and could only stand to the side to prevent embarrassing themselves anymore.

Naturally, their friends were allowed to enter, and after they came in, they saw a few people getting free cups of essence wine from the servers James had hired.

"I will take a glass of fire wine, in fact, make it two!" A young man who fancied himself better than others walked past the naturally formed queue and walked straight up to the server giving his surroundings a look of disdain.

"I'm sorry, sir, there is only one cup at a time per person." The server replied in a practised and respectful attitude, clearly, they had dealt with spoilt rich kids before. Unfortunately, the problem with rich kids is that once they don't get their way, they like to throw a tantrum.

"You DARE to deny me; I want to talk to the owner NOW!" The rich kid was livid and wanted to speak to someone higher up to prove his dominance, unfortunately for him on the way in he pushed James aside thinking he was some randomer, so James was already hostile to him.

"How can I help?" James wandered over to the youth like he had not a care in the world.

"How can I not have more than one cup at a time? I want an explanation!" The spoilt brat stomped his foot, showing the beginnings of a mighty tantrum.

"If you only want an explanation then it's a pretty easy one, you're not the only one here, and if I give you two cups now, that's potentially someone else who won't get a glass. I don't agree with that so I will ask you not to make any more problems."

"I deserve it more than others; I demand a second glass! Do you not know what my name is!?"

Unfortunately for James, the youth had taken this as a hit to his pride. With this, he wouldn't let it go until he was taught a lesson or got his way. Unfortunately for him, James wasn't willing to concede this point, so he decided to double down and ask the youth to leave.

"Reginald, how dare you attempt to use our name to extort others!" A girl, a couple of years older than the youth, came running over and then bowed to James expressing her apologies.

James couldn't tell if the girl was smart or stupid as he had a clear view down to the twin peaks that seemed insurmountable. After this thought, James mentally slapped himself as he still felt that even if it was acceptable in this world, his mental age was still around 60 years old.

"It's not a problem as long as this doesn't happen again." James finished the conversation, and the sound of the music filled the hall as everyone around them looked around in awkwardness.

At this moment, a loud belch came from the background from a petite girl who had drunk a full glass of wine in one gulp.

This lead to a wave of head-turning followed by a wave of laughter lightening the atmosphere immediately. After that, the party regained its flow, and the crisis was averted.

Over the night, things started to pick up as more and more people found out about the club and wanted to check it out. With the entry price, it lead to the students being more of the elite class, which is precisely what James was looking for when he thought of this club.

James began his rounds of greeting and talking to each person to build a profile on them. James was utilising one of the functions of the system to create a profile for each person to log the relevant information about them.

After greeting most of the guests, James found himself immensely bored, having no-one left to drink with. After scanning around him, he saw Thomas with two women that appeared to be teachers as they were older than their surrounding guests.

"Thomas, this is where you've been. I believe I owe you a drink, and would you two ladies like anything as well?" James took a good look at the two women who looked somewhat similar and noted both of them carried a strict, no-nonsense demeanour befitting of a senior teacher even though they both seemed young.

"Ah, James, I was wondering where you'd gotten to, these are Professors Silera and Farnei. They are two of the best teachers our academy have."

"It's a pleasure to meet both of you; I hope we can get to know each other well in the next few years I'm in the academy."

"Student, I would ask that you speak appropriately to us lest we're forced to take disciplinary action against you." Professor Farnei snapped at James for his apparent lack of respect.

"Boring old hag" James muttered this under his breath, but it came out slightly louder than he wanted it to and Thomas and the two professors all heard it.

"Oh really, is this how you feel about me. Well, maybe I can not be so boring if I give you some work to do. Here is a copy of the course textbook for your beginner's spirit circuitry class. I want a full report written and handed to me in the next few days. I'm sure I don't need to tell you what you will happen if you don't comply."

"I'm sorry, but I'm not prepared to do that, I have already read this book and understand it, I don't need your petty tests, act your age, please. It's unbecoming."

Thomas looked between the two with his mouth open wide enough you could see what he had eaten earlier in the day.

"You disrespect teachers like this and think you will be allowed to stay in the academy!?" The teacher was now thoroughly outraged and couldn't wait for James to face his punishment.

"You're more than welcome to try do something about it; it's your move."

"You just wait, I'm going to go talk to the principal, and we'll see what happens." Professor Farnei stormed out the door, no-one daring to block her path.

....................................................

"Professor Farnei, what could have you all worked up?"

"Principal, there is a rude brat who has opened a building as a gathering place for youths, it is apparently called a club, but after entering I spoke to him, and he directly flirted with me in front of another Professor and student." Professor Farnei took a deep breath after speaking it all in one breath.

"And what did this student say to you specifically?"

"He said he hoped we would get to know each other well over the years!"

"And you don't believe you're reading into that too much? Couldn't he have just been trying to give a nice greeting?"

The moment Professor Farnei heard this, her vision cleared and the red she saw subsided bringing her down from her tirade.

"Professor, I may have been rash in my judgement of this student. I apologise for wasting your time."

While professor Farnei was an excellent teacher, she had only been with the academy for a short while. If the Principal felt she had overreacted, then she had no place to argue and couldn't continue to waste his time lest she wants repercussions. At least this way, she can show her humility and ability to admit wrongs to the principal.

'I will just avoid this student, for now, no need to apologise to the likes of him."

....................................................

James knew clearly that after the teacher took offence to what he said, he could work it to his advantage. The headteacher probably long been informed that was the person behind this club. Once it was mentioned, the principal would likely protect him for such a minor thing. This was to send not quite a warning but to let the other students know he wasn't someone to be trifled with easily.

Once Professor Farnei didn't come back from talking to the principal word would get out, and people would know that even a professor couldn't get him sorted out easily. This also sent a message to some of the more astute students that he was worth befriending and may be a useful ally.
