Chapter 29: Chapter 29: The First Step (3)

Chapter 29: The First Step (3)

~Third POV~

Seeing that the people are done judging with the commotion they left them alone to their own devices as Weiss takes a careful glance at Jack in a new light.

When they separated Weiss began to well in her thoughts seeing the changes in the situation being played out as she bit her thumbnail at Jack, 'The gull of that boy to turn the situation in his favor…! He played me around getting a rise out of me and turned everyone here against me if that continued. Oh… I have to be wary around that manipulator.'

However contrary to Weiss's thoughts, Yang glanced over to Jack with an appreciated nod as talked to him, "Damn… you my friend are definitely the definition of reckless and bold. You told the girl off an Heiress of a Dust Company. You have surely gained one enemy today."

Jack thinks for a bit but shrugs his shoulders at this as he really didn't care much about making friends with Weiss as he spoke, "Hmm… I would like to think a friend or enemy would be appropriate really. I just spoke out what I really thought out and if someone is going to tell me their racist views I'm wrong then I'm telling that person to shove off."

Crossing her arms to prove a point while frowning at Weiss's words as he replied to Ruby and Yang listening, "While I disagree with her idea and racism of every Faunus labeled as evil, I can't disagree that the current White Fang groups are more terrorist than protestors at that point. I mean I can hardly imagine what kind of life she has gone through with a specific group hunting her down just being a Schnee."

Blake continues to read the book thinking about Jack's words before ignoring them for the time as she replied to him getting his attention, "… Perhaps. But despite her family being all arrogant people and racist towards the Faunus the White Fang was once a pacifistic group. Its people like – "

Before Blake can finish Jack simply interrupts her by saying with a frown clearly present on his face along with disappointment in his voice, "Yeah. I get it already but that was in the past they were. Right now? They are clearly representing something else using fear tactics. While it's a solution it isn't a good one. It's a short answer but only borrowing time before it blows up on them."

Blake stays quiet at this keeping her ideas to herself but not before Jack finishes with a tired yawn as he spoke, "Ah… Man talking about politics of racism is tiring… but hell I would probably end up as she did under the circumstances. Nobody is born evil or inherently bad. It's under the environment that changes people or Faunus…"

"Whoa…"

Ruby mouths out inspired or surprised by Jack's mature response Yang then pointed out something wrong in his words as she spoke, "Well… you almost got it right Jack. I mean Grimm is born evil you know."

Jack just nodded at this with shrugged shoulders but thought to himself in a quiet tone, 'Nope. They simply choose to attack us. No more. No less.'

*Bzzt*

That was when the hologram screen changed to see the holograms of Glynda Goodwitch and Ozpin appear as everyone's attentions turn towards them.

Glynda began to make her pre-recorded speech about the event to the students listening in to what the Huntress is speaking, "Welcome to Beacon. I'm Glynda Goodwitch, one of your instructors. Professor Ozpin has something to say to you all."

Ozpin held his chocolate cup while his other hand was his cane as he spoke to the students, "You have all been trained to become warriors. Today, the true worth of your training will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest test."

"A test already?"

"Dad told us already Ruby?

"What…"

"Guess we all got to start somewhere."

"No orientation?"

Jack glances at everyone mumbling about the information digesting the news as he thinks to himself surprised, 'What… Ok. I know for sure that this event never showed in the show before. Hmm… seems like everything I know is going to be different this time. Prepare for the worst Jack.'

*Shiii*

"Huh?"

"Whoa…"

"Is that the Map of the forest?"

Returning his attention towards Ozpin as did so many students are listening to his words as the map of the Emerald Forest is shown, "Make your way to the old temple and eliminate any Grimm that get in your way. If you don't your life is forfeit."

Next came the voice of Glynda Goodwitch as she began further about the test, "In the forest, partner with the first person you make eye contact with. Two pairs will combine to form a four-person team."

Following the map provided by the Bullhead as Jack took a picture of the map with his Scroll catching Yang, Ruby, and Blake's attention as he shrugs quietly at them, "What…? There is no rule stating we can't use our Scrolls to take a picture of the map. Don't know why no one is bothering?"

Seeing that no one is doing the option as Ruby, Blake, and Yang did the same as Ozpin's voice was heard from the hologram, "These will be your teammates for your four years of study. Hopefully, you can get along with each other."

Ruby hearing this gets immediately panics in a civil manner as she voices her own concerns about the situation, "Partners? Teams? Nobody told me about this!"

"But dad did tell us…"

Like this Ozpin began to continue the hunter test needed to pass the Huntsman Exam, "The temple contains several relics. Choose one and bring it back to Beacon Cliff. We will monitor you but will not intervene. You must make it through on your own."

Next came Glynda as she opens her mouth as began to talk about the test, "We will arrive at the test starting point shortly. Please prepare yourselves before then…"

~Jack POV~

'Please prepare yourselves before then…'

'Make your way to the old temple and eliminate any Grimm that get in your way. If you don't your life is forfeit'

'You have all been trained to become warriors…'

'Today, the true worth of your training will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest test…'

A true tested warrior…

Heh…

'May you be victorious.'

Victorious… right…

But I won't give up.

I was sent here for a reason hopefully something more meaningful…

I just have to play this game of life to the bitter end.

*Click*

Opening up my locker seeing the Mechas Gauntlets filled with fire Dust ammunition that Ruby helped created as I wore them as I couldn't help but sigh at this probably hoping for a sword instead of a gauntlet.

Maybe going for the Captain America shield would do nicely.

But since I have only <Martial Arts Mastery> probably best to go with a fighting style that complements my skills.

*Thud*

Closing the locker, I began to glance at the other students getting their own weapons and uniqueness as well as questionable weapon choices.

Putting the gauntlets to the side I began to see what the other students did as I see Weiss wandering around and going towards Pyrrha Nikos.

Seeing where this is going, I decided to go ahead getting ready for the spot but as I was going, I happen to see the interaction with Weiss and Pyrrha start so I decide to see what it looks like from a real-life point of view.

Listening over to the voice of Weiss as she tries to talk to Pyrrha first in a confident tone, "So, Pyrrha… have you given any thought to whose team you would like to be on? I'm sure everyone must be eager to unite with such a strong, well-known individual, such as yourself."

I know I remember this scene before but this…

This played out entirely different from what I remember…

I saw Pyrrha glance at Weiss with a clear hint of annoyance but that only lasted a few seconds and sadness soon replaced the earlier expression as I can hear some people begin to praise Pyrrha.

"Whoa… it's Pyrrha."

"Really Pyrrha Nikos here?"

"Wow."

"Does she mean THAT Pyrrha?"

This will certainly be a hassle for her.

Weiss is the annoying typical rich kid privileged girl with family issues.

And incredibly ignorant about the situation but considering her situation having to never have actual friends and social skills…

Yeah.

Understandable.

Ah…

That is the life of being so youthful and very arrogant about the dangers that lie ahead. Well, that is one of the reasons I came here to increase my levels, to begin with.

Weiss then begins to say her idea as she tries to convince Pyrrha for the team, "Well, I was thinking maybe we could be on a team together! Would you like to team up? I'm sure we'd be unbeatable together."

I see Pyrrha just focusing on her weapon but listening to Weiss's idea as she replied kindly to her, "Right. I'll think about it."

Ok, I had enough of the sidelines hearing this and her ideas of hers any longer.

But first, what will it take to copy a skill from Pyrrha?

I mean having a power like Magneto is pretty fucking broken.

[-Fusion Conditions-

Description: Pyrrha Nikos the 'Invincible Girl' and champion of Mistral Tournaments as has always been a winner throughout her life with no challenge but also cripples any lasting friends as people are too self-conscious to befriend her because of her title. Be an actual friend to Pyrrha Nikos.]

Well, I wasn't going to befriend her.

I will.

I began to make myself involved so I just introduce myself again but calmer this time, "Good morning ladies. Hello Pyrrha, it's a pleasure to see you so how's your morning doing."

Pyrrha looks in my direction with curiosity in her voice as she spoke to me, "Oh? You're the guy that butt heads with the Schnee right?"

Nodding at this Weiss merely glared at me with a twitched eyebrow as she replied, "You again."

While I greeted Pyrrha I saw Weiss was fuming at me about our earlier talk about her being a fool and disrespecting her family's company.

But ignoring the child aside I began to talk to Pyrrha curiously wondering if she wanted to join up with me, "Yup. The guy with a humble free opinion. Jack Nights pleasure to meet you Pyrrha."

Pyrrha seeing that I'm not being spooked by her as I gave her my hand, saw it, and smiled as she shook it as replied, "The pleasure is all mine, Jack. The name is Pyrrha Nikos."

"Yup I know already. You just gave it out to me."

"Haha…"

Pyrrha merely laughed at that as I saw Weiss glare at me.

This will surely make her mad but then again, I do want to be friends with Pyrrha.
