Chapter 33: Chapter 32

At night in a forest, a group of twenty men trudged through the bushes and made their way forward. They all held various weapons ranging from large claymores to spears, all clenched in their hands, ready to be used.

They donned armor light enough that it wouldn't make any noise as they snuck towards their destination. The man who seemed to be leading them raised his palm lightly in the air, gesturing for them to stop as he turned to address them.

"This part of the village seems to be the only one left undefended. We'll plant the charges here and then quickly move into the village and take out the target." He spoke quietly. He gestured for them to continue their march.

As he took a step forward, he just barely felt something light snap under his foot that made him feel alert. Before anyone could react, the sound of metal piercing flesh rang out accompanied by a screams of pain.

They turned back just in time to see two of their men fall to the ground as if their strings had been cut. Blood spewed from the holes through their heads. They all stood at alert as two of them were killed in an instant.

"Be careful! They've spotted us!" The man in the lead announced to his men. They looked for the source of their death only to see a small strange weapon lodged into the bark of the tree beside the two dead men.

Everywhere was silent for a few seconds with nobody making a move.

'Did they back off?' The leader pondered as no more attacks came. Just as he thought that, a sword shot out from the shadows behind them, beheading two men in an instant before going for its next victim.

The next man it went for was just barely able to block it with his own sword after watching it take out their numbers. The owner of the sword backed into the shadows once again, hiding themselves from sight.

"They're taking us out one by one! Everyone stay together!" Their leader said only for one person to scream back.

"What difference does it make? They'll die soon enough!" The man who managed to block the attack growled out, proudly brandishing his sword as he leapt into the shadows to chase.

He swung his sword around in the darkness, very much hoping to hit their assassin. Hearing light footsteps behind him, he stopped swinging his sword.

"You actually listened to me! You guys ready to kill this bastards?" He asked them arrogantly. He received no answer other than a sword through his chest.

"Ackk-!" Before he could complete his scream, the sword was swung upwards, cutting through him and splitting him in half and through his mouth.

"Did he do it?" The men asked themselves upon hearing the flesh cutting sound. They were soon answered as footsteps made their way to the clearing.

A figure was thrown out of the shadows unto the floor in front of the men. One look at it was enough to make them gasp in fear and disgust. What had landed in front of them was the dead, mutilated body of their arrogant comrade.

"Since when did they have such strong people?" Their leader asked rhetorically with a bit of fear.

Not used to the brutal method of killing in such a situation, some of them held in the urge to empty their stomachs. In less than two minutes, five of them were taken out, and with ease at that.

The hidden figure walked out of the shadows, revealing themselves to be a short person. Not wasting any time to identify his opponent, the leader ordered his men

"There he is! Kill him!" He ordered, being the first to jump forward with his spear thrusted forward.

Instead of piercing, the weapon passed through the figure as it faded in a blur. A figure appeared above his head as the moonlight revealed his identity.

He was a boy that looked to be about eight years old, sporting raven black hair and glowing red eyes that seemed to stare right through the soul.

He held a sword in a position ready to behead his opponent. He swung at the neck only for it to be blocked by the blade of a spear. He traced the weapon to the man who defended his leader.

His other hand stretched forward, gripping the pole of the weapon. Almost immediately, current began to move through the spear, electrocuting the owner but he managed to stay standing.

Although the man's aura gave him some protection from the shock, the damage was already done.

Seeing the blade dragging on the surface of the pole towards the his neck, the man tried to back away only to find himself unable to move. The lightning, while not able to injure him, was able to momentarily paralyze him.

He could only watch with wide eyes as his head was freed from his shoulders. The death of their comrade seemed to light a fire in the others as they all rushed towards him.

They swung their weapons at him in synchrony, taking every advantage they saw to take him down. Even with their simultaneous attempts, the boy seemed to predict their every move and counter or dodge with ease.

Within a few minutes, only two men were left standing while the boy was crouched opposite them, slightly panting. Although he was panting a bit, there wasn't any visible damage on him other than a few rips in his clothing.

This seemed to give one the two men hope as he stared at the tired child.

"He's getting tired. Now is our chance t-" He froze as his partner looked at him in shock.

"Marco? What happening?" His partner asked him in fear.

"What do you mean?! Let's get him!" He was about to rush the boy only to realize that he couldn't feel his weapon in his hand.

'What's going on…?' He thought as he could feel neither his weapons or even his hands for that matter. Only then did Marco notice that his partner looked taller than he remembered.

He strained his eyes to look to his side and immediately screamed in shock.

"AAAAHHHHHH!!!" His body from his neck downwards was laying on the floor beside him. With that, he promptly lost consciousness.

Reid looked at the man who had just fainted with an impassive gaze as he held the other man firmly by his throat.

'It seems that genjutsu was too much for him. At least I can confirm that it's effective.' He thought inwardly.

He then focused on the man who was twitching in his grip. Small almost unnoticeable spark appeared from Reid's palm every few seconds, continuously shocking and paralyzing the man's nervous system, subduing his completely.

"What were you doing here?" He asked the man, his face still indifferent as the man tried to struggled. Although he was paralyzed, his mouth could still move.

"G-go to hell…" The man spoke out weakly, expecting his captor to be frustrated but was disappointed as his expression didn't change.

"Make no mistake. I don't need you to tell me what I need, I was only being polite." Reid spoke as his voice caused him to feel dread.

His sharingan seemed more menacing as its two tomoe spun lazily.

"Now, show me what I need!" He said as his eyes made contact with that of the shivering man.
