Chapter 15: On to the Temple

"Its this way.......No, probably this way..."

Ruby just sighed as she sat on the grass while watching her partner, Weiss, pace back and forth around her. She was muttering about the directions they should go, but it seemed that she was having a hard time.

Things were not going as well as she would have liked.

First she hit a bird on the way to the forest, she swore that there's still a feather or two somewhere in her clothes. Then, she found a stuck up heiress for a partner and scoped the area for monsters.

It was then when she and Weiss were surrounded by Beowolves. That wouldn't have been a problem and she was confident that she could deal with them, that is, if Weiss hadn't set the forest on fire, something that the heiress blamed the little red for, all because she was a 'Show off'.

And now, the two of them are lost with no idea on how to get to the forest temple, even though Weiss insisted she knew where they were going.

"It's this way," Weiss said as she walked to the right. She then paused and turned to the left, "I mean.....this way! It's definitely this way."

After a few moments of going back in forth, she then sighs and walks over to where Ruby was sitting, "All right, it's official: We passed it."

"Weiss, why can't you just admit that you have no idea where we're going?" Ruby asked in annoyance as she gets up.

"Because I know exactly where we're going!" Weiss stated, although looking a little unsure at the moment.

"We're going.....to the forest temple!"

Ruby just sighed loudly in frustration as she mocked the stuck up heiress, "Yeah thanks, Captain Obvious!"

Weiss then glared at the younger girl, "Oh, stop it! You don't know where we are, either!"

Ruby didn't back down and glared back at her partner, "Well, at least I'm not pretending like I know everything!"

"What is that supposed to mean?" The heiress asked in slight irritation.

"It means you're a big, stupid jerk and I hate you!" Ruby yelled, releasing her pent up frustration.

Weiss just groaned as she turned her back to her partner and begins to walk off, "Just keep moving. Where not gonna go anywhere if we just stay here and bicker."

"Oh, just keep moving! Hurry up! Waaaah! Watch where you're going!" Ruby mocked Weiss in an imitation of her voice. She then glared and yelled at her, "Why are you so bossy?!"

Weiss turned to Ruby and yelled back, "I'm not bossy! Don't say things like that!"

"Then stop treating me like a kid!"

"Stop acting like a kid!"

"Well, stop acting like you're perfect!"

Weiss's eyes went cold after hearing that, "I'm. Not. Perfect!.....Not yet.....But I'm still leagues better than you."

Ruby had a hurt look in her eyes, upset that someone who was still a bit of a stranger, would say something so painful to her.

She just hung her head dejectedly and muttered, "You don't even know me…"

*CAAWW!*

"Wait.....you hear something?" Weiss furrowed her brows as she heard some animal-like sounds, she then looked off into the distance and she was shocked.

"Hear what?" Ruby asked and Weiss just pointed up. The younger girl similarly looked off into the distance, and her eyes widened in shock.

It was a giant Nevermore, it had twice the size of a Pterodactyl and was loudly cawing as it was flying by.

A Nevermore is a type of Grimm that resembled a Condor. Like other creatures of Grimm, it has a bone-like mask with red markings and a dorsal fin on the upper front of its head. It also has four glowing red eyes, two on each side of its head.

Normally, Nevermore's had the size of normal but big eagles, but that one was just...

"Wow..." Ruby was amazed at the Grimm's size as she and Weiss watch the giant Nevermore in wonder.

"I think.....I've found us a way..."

"A what?"

Ruby suddenly pulled out Crescent Rose and transformed it into its sniper mode. Weiss looked at her with a curious gaze as she watched Ruby aim her weapon at the giant avian Grimm and...

*Bang!*

*Bang!*

*Bang!*

"WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING?!" Weiss yelled in fright.

This stupid girl was actually shooting that giant Nevermore! At this point, the giant bird may turn its attention to them and it might pick them off like they were worms.

Ruby's bullets wasn't doing any effect on its body. Instead, its head turned to them, completely getting its attention before it then proceeded to swoop down towards them.

Seeing this, Ruby's eyes sparkled. She successfully got the bird's attention.

"I have an idea! We're lost, and you know it! We can't get to the temple at this rate, but I'm about to get us a ride to get there!" Ruby said in excitement.

Weiss paled and was basically shivering as she saw the Nevermore loudly cawing at them and was rapidly getting closer.

"I-I-Is this y-your b-brilliant plan?! Getting killed by a G-Grimm?!" Weiss whined in anger and terror, she didn't even realize that she was clinging on to Ruby's clothes right now.

"Bah! Don't worry, we'll be fine! Just follow my lead and you won't die.....probably..."

"YOU'RE INSANE!!"

.....

Yang was having a fairly good day herself.

She had a good time flying in the air, had a good fight against a pair of Ursa, even though one of them cut off a peace of her beloved hair, and managed to find a good partner in the form of the black haired book lover she met last night, Blake.

Currently the two were on a hill, looking at an old, run-down rotundan temple with some stone podiums inside of it, holding several white and black objects; they seem to be the relics.

"You think this is the place?" Yang asked, only getting an incredulous look from her partner in response.

The pair then walked down to the temple and became confused as to what the relics were.

"Chess pieces?" Blake wondered, looking at a Black King piece.

"Their so big.....And some of them are missing." Yang noted as she looked around, "Looks like we weren't the first ones here."

"Well." Blake shrugged, "I guess we should just pick one."

Yang nodded and stared at the chess pieces herself, "Hmmmm."

She then grabbed a White Knight piece and showed it to Blake, "How about a cute little pony?"

Blake just slightly smiled at Yang's antics, "Sure..."

The two then walked towards each other.

"That wasn't too hard!"

"Well, it's not like this place is difficult to find."

At those words, Yang then thought about her little brother and sister, and started to wonder on why was it taking so long for them to find this place.

'Well, I hope that they're fine. Jin can search for this place with no problems, but Ruby...'

.....

"No partner yet, and the temple is still a few miles away."

After killing the abnormally large Alpha Beowolf and taking a good look of its body, Jin started running through the forest again, searching for other people, while in the same time going towards the temple.

This time, he didn't encounter any Grimms but so was for other humans. He would even sometimes yell out while running, hoping for other people to hear it and follow his voice.

Its been a few minutes now and still no signs of other humans so far, and now that he really thought of it...

Was he going in the right direction?

"Could it be that I'm lost? Am I going to the opposite direction of the temple? Is that why I haven't encountered any other people?"

Jin was slightly getting nervous at the thought and he stopped running. He looked to his right and he looked to his left, he looked to his right again and started looking around, guessing on what direction he should go.

"I'm really lost, huh. Well, looks like I messed up."

Jin just smiled at his misery, and just as all hope seemed to be lost, he suddenly hears a loud 'CAW'.

Jin just looked up and saw that a giant Nevermore was swiftly descending towards him as it loudly Caws.

'Well you look at that, I bet it was attracted because of my yelling.....Wait, is it just me, or is that Nevermore twice as big than in the series? Maybe its just different one.....

Taking a good look again, he really confirmed it. The Nevermore was twice as big! It was bigger, better, faster, and louder!

'Ruby also used a giant Nevermore in order to get to the temple faster.....Meh, might as well do the same.'

The Nevermore was rapidly nearing him and it quickly tried to snatch him like a worm with its deadly talons.

Jin just dodged it with a large side-step and he leaped on to the back of the Nevermore. While leaving a small crater on the area where he jumped, he then landed on its back and then lied on his stomach.

"Now that was easy..." Jin said as he firmly held on to the Nevermore's back.

The Nevermore loudly cawed before soaring back to the skies. Jin just looked around and saw that he was all alone on the avian Grimm's back.

'Yep, this bird is twice as big compared in the series. Should I help Ruby and the gang kill this thing?'

'While the bird tried to grab me, I didn't see other people clinging to its side feathers. Hah, I guess Ruby and Weiss didn't get on this Nevermore.'

"Hey! Why did the Nevermore suddenly descend?!" A high pitched voice suddenly yelled out.

'Wait, what?."
