Chapter 27: Unknown threat !
(Somewhere in the middle of a forest near a lake)
" Haaaaa ... nothing beats a good afternoon of fishing, right?
"Yeah .... with such weather it would be stupid not to take advantage of it!"
Two men sat on lounge chairs along a lake with their fishing rods stuck in the ground.
"It's been over an hour and we still haven't caught anything!"
"Be patient, we'll catch something sooner or later, enjoy the good weather!"
"Yeah…I'll be right back, waiting all this time makes me want to pee."
The man got up and headed for the forest to find a quiet place to relieve himself.
It was now 15 minutes since the man left but still hadn't come back, his friend was getting worried.
"What is this idiot doing? He's lost or what!"
He got up and walked into the forest.
"Dude! Where are you.....you forget how to pee or what?"
He walked for a while when he stepped into a puddle.
"Ha fuck!"
He looked down to find that what he had stepped in was not a puddle of water but blood.
Cold sweat ran through his body and his breathing became more frantic.
"MAN! WHERE ARE YOU?"
Fear had taken hold of him, he started to back away slowly when he heard the sound of a bush moving behind him.
He slowly turned his head to see a horrified sight. Behind him stood a two meter tall humanoid creature completely black with spikes of bone that protruded from his back and down his spine. The creature had a very muscular body and a single red eye in the middle of its face.
She held in her right hand the lifeless and half-devoured body of his friend.
The man's face was disfigured with fear and horror as the grimm-like creature stared at him with its eye while continuing to eat the body it held as if it were a snack.
The man turned around and fled immediately, the fear and the adrenaline in his body made him run at full speed, he ran for more than a minute without ever turning around,he could see the exit from the forest and ran as fast as he could, but stopped just before he could get out.
He lowered his head slowly to see a spike made of black material puncture his stomach. the blood began to flow from his stomach and his mouth and with a direct blow he was forcibly pulled into the forest.

Yang hardly open her eyes, she had the impression of being run over by a truck. She was in a bed that wasn't hers, she looked around but couldn't recognize where she was, suddenly a door opened and Ayden appeared.
Ayden: "Hmmm you're finally awake."
Yang: "Where am I?"
Ayden: "At my place. You had passed out and there were no more bullheads available so..."
Yang: "Why....."
Ayden: "Hmmmm?"
Yang: "Why did you help me when you could leave me alone? I thought you hated me!"
Ayden was silent for a moment while looking at her then spoke.
Ayden: "I may be a jerk sometimes but not to the point of leaving you alone like that and I don't hate you, it's true that you annoy me most of the time but not to the point that I can hate you."
Yang lowered her head and looked at her hands clutching the blanket. She felt stupid, the person who pissed her off the most had come to her aid when she didn't have to and could leave her like that.
Yang: "Th... Thanks I guess." She said while trying to hide her embarassment.
Ayden: "Was that a thank you! Weird...are you really yang or someone else?"
Yang: "Shut up!"
Ayden chuckled, then spoke again.
Ayden: "I made breakfast, do you want some?"
Yang: "Wait! How long have I been sleeping?"
Ayden: "Relax you just spent the night here, you were able to recover quickly with your aura but if I were you I'd look at your scroll, it just rang all night."
Yang took her scroll out of her pocket and saw about twenty messages and missed calls from ruby worried that she hadn't returned last night.
Yang texted her to tell her that everything was fine and that she would be back soon. She put away her scroll and got out of bed but she barely put her foot on the ground when a sharp pain arose in her chest causing her to lose her balance.
Luckily Ayden saw her and caught her before she fell to the ground.
Ayden " Take it easy! You took a big hit yesterday, I think you should still feel the pain some day until it's gone completely.
He helped her to sit at the table and served her something to eat, then sat down opposite her.
Yang: "What was that?"
Ayden: "Hmmm?"
Yang: "That red thing during our fight, what was it? Your Semblance?"
Ayden: "To be honest I still haven't unlocked my Semblance."
Yang: "What! So what is this thing if it's not your Semblance?"
Ayden: "This thing as you say is a special technique of mine called kaioken. It allows me to increase my own power and other traits in combat."
Yang: "Wow, that's pretty cool and useful!"
Ayden: "Indeed but like all good things this technique has a cost, Using it causes damage to my body and it is more important depending on how much I use the kaioken."
Yang: "I see.....on what levels did you use it against me?"
Ayden: "I multiplied my power by ten, something I had never done before."
Yang: "TEN times your power! You really didn't hold back, did you?"
Ayden: "That's what you wanted and then you should consider yourself lucky that your aura took the majority of the damage and that our power was basically the same when you activated your Semblance."
Yang: "What do you mean?"
Ayden: What I mean is that if my base power was much higher than yours the damage you would have received would have been much more serious but since I'm just a little stronger than you and I couldn't keep the kaioken active for very long, you got away with it without too much damage."
Yang: "Hmmmm I guess you're right."
They continued their discussion when ayden's scroll rang. He took it out and saw a message from Ozpin asking him to come see him at beacon.
Ayden: "Well it looks like I'm going to beacon with you."
Yang: "Why is that?"
Ayden: "Your headmaster wants to see me."
Yang: "Hoooooo....."
They finished eating and then left the apartment, yang had a little trouble walking because of the pain and ayden took one of her arms and put it on his shoulder to help her move forward.
Strangely on the way they chatted as if they had known each other for a long time and if they were good friends whereas some days before they couldn't stand each other.
Ayden didn't miss an opportunity to piss off yang because it was way too funny but this time it was for fun and not because he was annoyed by her even though the same couldn't be said for her.
They arrived at beacon and exited the bullhead. Ayden helped yang walk along the alley then pulled her arm back.
Ayden: "Do you think you can continue without too much difficulty?"
Yang: "Yeah don't worry I'm much tougher than that!"
Ayden: "Hmphh well then see you later."
Ayden started to leave and head towards Ozpin's office when Yang stopped him.
Yang: "Ayden wait!"
Ayden: "What is it?"
Yang: "I...I just wanted to...I just wanted to know if you were interested in hanging out or you know....maybe training together?"
It was cute to see her so shy, she who is usually very confident and proud.
Ayden: "Yeah, why not, message me when you want to do that."
He turned and continued on his way while waving his hand saying goodbye to yang.
A smile appeared on Yang's lips and his cheeks turned slightly pink. She often went out with boys to have fun but never anything serious because she had never found the right one but this time something was different but she couldn't tell what.

(Ozpin's office)
Ozpin: "Ayden, I've been waiting for you!"
Ayden: "Why did you want to see me this time oz?"
Ozpin: "Well if I made you come here it's to talk about the manor!"
Ayden: "What! Again?"
Ozpin: "Yes again.... you see I sent a team to question the survivors on the island as I had said but...."
Ayden: "What? They managed to escape from the island? I destroyed their only way out of the island though."
Ozpin: "Don't worry, my team found them."
Ayden: "Well what's the problem?"
Ozpin: "The problem is in what condition did they find them."
Ayden: "What do you mean?"
Ozpin: "What I mean is that they were all found dead, completely devoured."
Ayden: "What!"
Ozpin: "The team has investigated and confirmed the absence of grimm on the island."
Ayden: "Indeed I didn't notice any grimm when I was there."
Ozpin: That's why I'm asking you this question ayden! Was there anything else with you on this island?
