Chapter 1: Prologue
In my dream, I saw myself getting into an ambulance. I was lying on the stretcher. I was being saved by the paramedics. At the same time, the machine started to beep. It was an emergency. I had my eyes closed, so I had no idea what was happening. This one paramedic shouted, "Clear!" My heart started pumping again. I opened my eyes slowly, and I looked around. I noticed the paramedics, "Wha-what happened?" His name was John, and he tells me to follow his finger. Gordon was the other paramedic. Both of them are nice.
When my mother arrived at the hospital, she was told that I was bleeding internally. Mom sighed and closed her eyes. Before the doctor had finished explaining that I was being put into surgery, my mother interrupted. As she sat down in the waiting room, she was saddened by what she learned.
Mom saw me sleeping in my bed after I had just gotten out of surgery. After throwing away her coffee, she entered my room. She pulled out a chair and sat down. Mom grabbed my hand. Her attention was drawn to the hospital gown, nasal cannula, drip, and beeping of the machines. I slowly opened my eyes. Her eyes caught mine as I looked around the room.
A few hours later, the doctor came to make sure everything was okay. A penlight shone in my face, and I began to think about the accident. My friend was with me at the time, and I remembered that another vehicle had hit me. His name was Carson, and he died.
