Chapter 33: Lady Ghost

"Excuse me, is there something else I can help you with?" the waiter asked friendly as he turned around. Ryan didn't even look at him which must have placed him in an awkward situation.

"There was a lady in a black cloak by the doors," Ryan explained as he pointed at the lobby. "Did you see her?"

The waiter followed his gaze and shook his head with a smile, "Sir, there was no lady in a black cloak in our cafe. You two were the last clients that visited us."

Ryan frowned. He literally just saw her so there is no way she dodged the waiter's sight.

"I just saw her standing there a moment ago," Ryan insisted. "She disappeared right when you closed our doors."

The waiter scratched his head in confusion. "Sir, there is a bell attached to our doors. Once someone enters, we can hear them. If there was another client, I would know," the waiter explained carefully but seeing Ryan's expression only got worse, he didn't argue with him.

"Is this someone Sir knows?" the waiter questioned cautiously.

"I believe she is stalking us. I already saw her following us earlier," Ryan replied without hesitation, trusting his senses. He was sure it was her that kept watching them as they walked towards the cafe.

"Ryan? What is going on?"

Rose came up to them from behind and grasped his hand, visually worried. Without any context, Ryan was simply acting weird.

"Do you remember this lady in a black cloak that we saw earlier?" Ryan asked as he turned to her. "I just saw her in the lobby. The one following us the whole time must be her. She even stared at me before running away."

Rose's eyes widened and she didn't even question him, knowing he wouldn't lie to her like that.

"What do we do? Shall we call my father?" Rose whispered, squeezing his hand anxiously.

"No need… You will only scare him," Ryan rejected. "Nothing happened yet. Let's just wait and observe."

Only when Rose joined him did the waiter turn serious, realizing it shouldn't be a coincidence. After all, there was a slim chance that both of them were crazy.

"Is there any way I can help…? Do you maybe want to see the surveillance camera footage?" the waiter proposed to which Ryan quickly nodded, wanting to show he wasn't crazy. "Yes please."

They followed the waiter to the lobby and he approached the ordering panel. He swiped his working card and opened the cameras. There were four in total but only two were pointed at the entrance.

"It should be around two or three minutes ago, right?" the waiter commented out loud, tapping on the slide and moved the time stamp to the right time.

The video moved backward and they saw the waiter leaving the kitchen with a metal tray, carrying their deserts. Everything looked normal until the moment the waiter passed the entrance. He paused and glanced at the doors which surprisingly opened on their own.

"Huh…?" The waiter froze at that moment, staring at the screen in disbelief. "I don't remember this…"

He rubbed his temples as if trying to remember this event. "I clearly didn't stop for even a second there… I went straight towards your private room…" The waiter muttered, his face appealed in confusion.

Ryan and Rose extended glances.

Something wasn't right.

In the video the waiter just stood still, watching as the doors open and close with no help from anyone. Twenty seconds later, he acted as if nothing happened and moved on, walking towards their room.

"Can you rewind and turn on the volume?" Ryan proposed but the waiter shook his head. "Unfortunately, we don't record the sound in the footage. Do you think I was speaking?"

"Yes. With the black cloak lady…" Ryan suggested, knowing how weird it sounded but at this point, the waiter didn't know what to believe.

The video moved forward and the waiter left the scene. A moment later, the entrance door opened abruptly, coincidentally timed at the exact moment when his room got closed.

"Bro… That's some paranormal activity…" the waiter muttered, already looking spooked to the max. "What if there really was a lady there but she is a ghost and only you can see her?"

"Let's forget about it," Ryan suddenly called out. "It must have been a hallucination because I'm tired. There was clearly no one there."

He grabbed Rose's hand and pulled her back towards the room, commenting casually, "Let's go back and enjoy our dessert."

Rose got confused but she didn't question him, following him back to the room. They left the confused waiter on his own.

Thud.

Ryan closed the doors and his expression returned back to his original, troubled one. He gently pinned Rose to the door and looked deeply into her eyes.

"Do you believe me?" He asked as if nothing else mattered to him. "I swear I saw her. It was the same lady who walked past us earlier."

He only wanted her to trust him, even though he knew how insane it sounded.

Rose didn't run away and assured him with a smile, rubbing his arms, "Don't worry, I believe you."

"Thank you…" Ryan breathed in relief and released her, continuing, "But even if you do believe me, we still don't know how come the cameras didn't register her and the waiter doesn't remember anything."

"The door doesn't randomly open and close. The waiter stopped too but he doesn't remember anything so it must be that lady who did something." Rose pointed out. "You mentioned that she looked at you. Did you see her face?"

Ryan shuddered when he recalled those creepy eyes and shook his head, "I only saw her red eyes, gawking at me from the darkness inside the hood. It felt strange. It's really bright outside so there is no way her face would be this dark."

"Well, there is no way we can figure it out like this. All we can do now is guess, having no evidence to validate it," Rose concluded with a shrug and sat him up by the table. "Let's eat as we talk."

"I think I lost the appetite," Ryan commented as he poked the dessert with his fork.

"Are you worried she will stalk us more?" Rose questioned and grabbed the fork from his hand.

"Yes," Ryan nodded, watching her slice the dessert and then hover it in front of his face.

"Say, ahhh~" Rose called sweetly, forcing him to open his mouth and take the bite.

"It's good…" he appraised honestly.

"Hehe, it's because I'm feeding you," Rose giggled and assured, "Don't worry, if she wanted to hurt us, she would already do it. No matter what method she used to avoid the camera or how did she hypnotize the waiter, there is nothing we can do. Even if I believe you, no one else will. We have no proof."

"..."

She was right. Only he saw the black cloak lady. If he told the police, they would think he is crazy, same with Rose's and his parents.

"What do you suggest then?" Ryan asked curiously, eating another bite she prepared.

"Nothing," Rose replied simply as she took a sip of her hot chocolate. "We will do what we came here for. We will start by eating the dessert, drinking hot chocolate and then kiss. We are still yet to take a—"

Before she finished, Ryan already had the phone in his hand and called out, "I'm ready."

"Isn't that the wrong order?" Rose asked amused but Ryan didn't care and leaned over.

Click.

Ryan took the photo as their lips touched but he didn't stop there, putting his phone away as he continued tying and tempting her. She held onto his face, stroking his cheek while he pulled her closer, putting her leg on top of his.

The moment his urges finally reacted to their actions, he pulled away.

"You taste like chocolate," Ryan commented right before his eyes filled with yearning and desire.

Rose seemed prepared as she accepted him when he threw himself at her once again.

"Mhmm~"

This time he acted without any restraints, his hand tangled in her lush hair as he demanded another feast. Rose enjoyed his cravings so she didn't push him away just yet, coiling around him as well.

Unfortunately, they weren't meant to continue any further than that.

Knock, knock.
