Chapter 289: Life

Ken opened his eyes to see Ella seated beside him on the bed, holding his hand and looking at him as if she was scared he would disappear if she looked away from him, "Have you been crying?" He asked softly, looking at her swollen eyes. 

"I thought you wouldn't wake up," Pete said with a sigh, making Ken turn his head in Pete's direction. 

"What time is it?" Ken asked with a frown when he saw Kathleen. He wondered why they were all there. 

"It's almost two in the morning. How are you feeling?" Ella who had been quiet asked with concern.

"I'm okay. You didn't have to worry so much," Ken said squeezing her hand reassuringly, "Kat please take her out, she needs to clean her face," Ken pleaded, and Kathleen nodded, and Ella reluctantly followed her out. 

Once the ladies were gone, Ken tried to sit up on the bed as Pete moved closer to the bed, "How are you really feeling?"
