Chapter 28: If she couldn't have happiness, she would have revenge

It must have been late evening by the time Sienna woke up again and she found Damon still by her bedside. 

Reaching out slowly, hesitantly, with a trembling hand, she carded her fingers through his sandy blonde hair. 

A lone tear spilled over her cheek and hit the blanket. 

Was this the closest she would ever get to him? 

He stirred and she snatched her hand back, wiping her face and arranging features into a neutral expression. 

"How are you feeling?" The first thing he said when he woke up was to ask about her health?

"I'm much better," She managed a small smile, "Thank you."

He checked her forehead temperature and nodded, pleased with the improvement. 

Now that she was more clear headed, she noticed the gash on his palm and gasped, reaching for it without thinking. 

Damon stilled as she grasped his hand lightly.
