Chapter 2: Coffee for a book.

13:18. "Damn it! I'll miss the train!" I thought as I was walking at an incredibly fast pace. Dodging the people while doing so. Ugh. Too many people. That's the only thing I hate in December. As the Christmas is coming everyone rushes to the shops to buy the presents for their loved ones. As I was passing by a bookshop something caught my attention. I stopped and went closer to the window. It was the last book of the Anne series by Lucy Maud Montgomery. I love those books. I can relate to Anne, because I have the same hair colour as she. Just like Anne at the beginning, many people think this hair colour is odd and ugly, me on the other hand love it. I stepped into the bookshop. A mixture of apple and cinnamon could be smellt in the air. The shop was decorated with lovely Christmas decoration. Since I still have time for the next train I thought I'll look around a bit. There was a great variety of books. After picking up Anne from the pile of novels I passed the hobby part, then the fantasy, and romantic part as well. Suddenly the familiar scent of coffee slapped my nose. I turned my head toward the café, that was in the bookshop. Once I drank coffe here. It was really good. They have many type of coffees here. It's like a paradise only for coffee and book maniacs. As I finished with the look around, I was walking to the desk to pay for the book. After paying I took one last glance at the books. Then I stepped outside, into the snowy wonderland. However not too long after that thought someone bumped into me with such force I fell to the ground. "Ouch!" I was sure that my knees had a bruise now. My right palm already had one.

"Oh my God! I am so sorry! Are you alright?" Asked the man who was the reason of me playing the unlucky little girl in the dirty snow. As he helped me up I was ready to give him a piece of mind. Opening my mouth, somewhat the words stucked in my throat. I just stared. The young man was not the most handsome man. Not in the Slightest way. But there was something in him. Something I couldn't explain. Maybe it was because of his eyes. Its colour reminded me of coffee. But right now this shade was coloured with worry and embarassment. In a small voice I managed to answer. My shy side of me coming back after my anger started to cool down. "I'm fine." I spoke. Still looking up at him with wide eyes. He was quite tall. His ears were a little bit big too. "But next time use those coffee colored eyes too, not just your feet." I said without thinking. "Blast it!" I thought. "I shouldn't have said that."

"Coffee coloured eyes?" He asked with a huge grin on his face, and a little laugh in his voice. As if he was not shocked by my awkard outburst, but rather amused. I could feel my cheeks getting warm.

"N-never mind." Looking down I noticed that my new book was not in my hands anymore. I was in the moment of putting the book into my bag when I fell to the ground because of him. Looking around I found it in a pile of dirty snow. It already got a little wet. Picking it up I gave him a glare, and started to walk away. Already late for the next train too. Ugh.

"I am really sorry." He said. Walking up next to me. "Let me make it up somehow." He offered.

I looked up at him skeptically. Then that huge grin was on his face again.

"Let this coffee coloured eyed young man invite you for a coffee." At that moment I stopped instantly, looking up at him with my eyes almost popping out of my school.

"Please" He said. "Let me invite this small, rose coloured cheeked ginger for a make it up coffee."

After hearing him saying this I hoped for the ground to open up and swallow me, as I was standing there completly frozen, well except for my cheeks it seems. I could only stare at him. My mind was blank. He was still grinning at me, now somewhat a bit more softly than before.

"I -" I started, feeling uncertain. I glanced at my watch. Well, it's not like I'm in a rush anymore. I glanced back at him. He was waiting for my answer. Hope, and kindness radiating from his eyes.

"Thank you. A coffee always sounds great" I answered finally with a smile.

"Especially when you have it with someone with same eye colour." He said, still joking around about my awkard outburst. I looked around smiling awkardly, my face now more reddish than before. Well if it's even possible.

The rest of the afternoon was more pleasant and less awkard. We talked a lot. Especially about books. Turns out he is just as much of a bookworm as me. He has a good sense of humor too. After saying our farewells we parted.

Arriving to the railway station I still had some time for the next train. So I pulled my new, yet dirty book out of my bag, and started to read.

I was right. This December definetly didn't start like the previous dull ones.
