Chapter 2: Dinner Talk

After cleaning himself up, Drai was sitting in his room, looking at the posters of muscleheads on the wall. There were beast hunters, arena fighters, movie stars, and even criminals. The only thing they all had in common is that they're extremely buff!

'I wonder if I can become as strong as them after evolving,' Drai pondered. 'Maybe not at the first class though because most of them are at third class or higher.'

He suddenly focused on the least buff man with scaly skin and two miniature horns.

'Scarlet Streak Alancho, one of the Great Generals of Rivideria. They say that his first class was a draconic evolution type. He looks the least impressive mass-wise, but his power definitely tops the others here. Are all bloodline evolution classes this great?' Drai wondered.

'Did Alancho ate reptiles before his revelation? Maybe I should've eaten more strong beasts rather than the usual meat. Or maybe grind their horns and claws to make some soup with. Or maybe I should've lived among the beasts in the forest. Perhaps that way I would have a higher chance of getting offered a bloodline evolution class,' Drai slightly lamented.

'Ah, what's the use of thinking of this now? It's too late anyway and no matter what class I get, the most important thing is pure strength and endurance!'

Drai had always been a simplistic person. From a young age, he admired his father's strength and muscles. Then, he started to look at people with huge builds and great strength. His child eyes sparkled whenever he saw the superhuman feats these men did.

This fascination gave birth to a warped idea in small Drai's mind; overwhelming strength and endurance are kings that triumph over all other powers!

From there on, Drai focused on making himself stronger and more durable. He paid little to no attention to his agility and dexterity, and didn't wish to get any magical related powers whatsoever.

This was also the main reason why Drai often lacked common sense and general knowledge. His training didn't give much room for social interaction and studying. Drai knew that he's lacking in both these areas, but he didn't want to squander his youth for stuff that could be learned after evolving. After all, the first class is arguably the most crucial factor of one's future. The first class forms the fundamentals for the later classes, and the offered skills which are related to one's class at varying degrees are also important.

After calming himself, Drai got up and exited his room, heading toward the kitchen.

"Oh, Drai, I was just going to call you for dinner after this," Lina said while preparing the foods on the dining table. There were a lot of meat with some vegetables as the side dish.

"Is Dad home already? I didn't hear him coming."

"I think he got home when you were bathing in the backyard. Or should I say, when you were submerged in ice water," Lina answered with a chuckle.

"Mom, why are you teasing me like this? I thought we've moved on from that phase already several years ago," Drai remarked while taking a seat at the dining table.

"I'm just sad that you're going to be gone soon, dear. Why can't I tease my boy so I can picture your pouting face whenever I miss you," Lina replied with a grin.

Drai was speechless as he saw her mom put the last plates on the table.

"Honey! Dinner's ready!" Lina called her husband.

Soon, a bearded man with a well-toned body wearing a wife beater and shorts entered the kitchen and sat down. He looked fresh after bathing and smiled while looking at Drai.

"Well, son, you look rather wasted today. A final spurt before the Revelation?" Daro asked.

"Something like that," Drai answered. "I don't want to miss unlocking a class by being lazy on my last day, even if I wouldn't know it."

"Haha, I miss being young. After my second class, I totally focused on my work rather than self-improvement. Of course it still gives experience and skill points but they're somewhat negligible that I only got my third class in recent years," Daro said while piling meat onto his plate.

"I think you slowed down even more after meeting me," Lina added. "It's only during our first few dates that you grinded to show off your class and skill progression. After that you basically settled down and enjoyed life."

"Well, at that point I've fulfilled my goal in life so I ran out of gas," Daro chuckled. "I think I've done better than you class-wise anyway, honey. I don't think I've ever seen you use your earth magic nowadays."

"If there's nothing to use it for in the house, why would I use it? And after marrying and quitting our company, I've always taken skills that might be useful for house chores and taking care of Drai," Lina replied.

"Maybe if you showed Drai your skills, he wouldn't be the musclehead he is," Daro said.

"I don't like magic," said Drai while biting on a piece of meat.

"That's because you haven't seen your mom move the earth like nothing, son," Daro replied seriously. "I remember watching her move a bunch of huge logs which even I couldn't do it myself by tying them with ropes made of dirt and moving them toward the on-site warehouse. At that moment I was so mesmerized that I instantly thought that I must wed her! Hahaha!" Daro laughed while reminiscing about the past.

"I just have to be stronger than mom even without magic," Drai stated persistently. "Then I could lift those logs or even smash them to bits or use them as throwing spears!"

Daro was speechless as he looked at his wife helplessly. Lina just shook her head and calmly ate.

"Let's just see, son. Maybe if you get into an academy or institution after your Revelation, you'll fall in love with a hot mage lady. Then I'll gladly laugh myself to tears when you bring her home, hehe," Daro continued to pester Drai, seemingly enjoying this.

"I'm not sure about a hot mage lady, but maybe a strong woman whose muscles are bigger than mine could entice my heart," Drai remarked with a smile while picturing the image of that "perfect" lady who can move mountains with her arms and split the earth with her kicks, her muscles chiseled to perfection.

"…"

The dinner went on without Daro mentioning the topic of love interest anymore. He seemed to be traumatized by his son's preferences. He tried to look at his wife while picturing her with a heavy muscled build then he shivered.

'If Drai really brings back a scary lady, I must tread carefully around her and keep my loud mouth shut lest I get pummeled by my own daughter-in-law,' Daro thought to himself.

Meanwhile, Lina only thought, 'Whomever Drai falls for later, she will probably be a kind girl because Drai is such an innocent soul. But I should still look into her just in case a scheming fox is toying with Drai. Maybe I should brush up my magic skills just in case…'

Yet, Drai was thinking of a different line of thought entirely.

'I've eaten this fatcow meat so many times already. Will I get a fatcow hybrid class tomorrow? Will I grow udders on my stomach if I become a fatcow hybrid? Maybe grass will taste like beef because the fatcows love it so much. Then will beef taste like grass? Wait… if someone eats me will I taste like beef?'

While the Varz family were immersed in their own thoughts, numerous other families around the nation were having similar contemplations because tomorrow was the Revelation Day for many of these 18 y.o. teenagers.
