Chapter 167: Transfer student

Monday 13th March.

Toh dropped her off at school and insisted that he directly walk her into the building. However, Toh was famous. It wasn't like with Sano, where not many people knew him. Toh was a different story; his picture is plastered in every corner of the fashion industry. If people saw them together, there would be all sorts of rumors.

Toh is seventeen, turning eighteen soon. So, there is nothing wrong with them being together. His real age, however, is still a secret. In the eyes of the public, he is older than her, and she is a minor. Even if she has accepted to be one of his models for his show, there is a limit to how much they can be seen together.

Sumire sighed deeply. Another secret relationship. She wonders when the day will come when she will be able to freely date someone out in the open.

She peeked through the pillar. 'I don't see him in this crowd. Maybe he isn't here yet?' The person she was keeping an eye out for was Hamano Atushi. With his personality, there is a high chance he will arrive early. But it seems he isn't here.

Somebody tapped her shoulder, and Sumire flinched and almost fell to the ground, but the person caught her.

Masato sighs deeply. "You don't have to act so cautiously."

"Masato."

He lets her go. "Homeroom is starting late today because the teacher has something to do. Why don't you calm your nerves and play in the auditorium? Nobody is there right now."

Indeed, she will need a lot of strength later on to face Atushi. Sumire nodded. "Then, Masato, will you be coming with me?"

Masato nods. "It's rare to get a chance to have you for myself."

She laughs. "Let's play together."

Right now, she needs to focus on calming her nerves. She doesn't want to make a fool out of herself when she faces those two again.

_______

If he closes his eyes, sometimes he can still hear it. Her voice. ' Atushi-kun,' he could still hear it so clearly, almost like she was right there beside him. As he walked up the long hill toward the school, his thoughts drifted to the past.

He was thirteen years old when he did something that stepped out of the norm. He didn't know why he did it. People usually called him a wimp, a nerd, but it didn't mean he was being bullied or anything. In fact, he got along quite well with the popular crowd and managed to fit in quite well despite his small structure.

He wanted to live his life quietly, live his school life normally, and not get involved in any drama. Yet, unfortunately, fate had completely different plans for him.

Atushi was just taking the trash out since he was on duty out back when a group of girls rushed past him. He immediately sensed something was amiss and listened to their conversation.

"We finally did it at last! "

"She's probably going to start bawling her eyes like a baby if she finds out."

Huh? Those girls there in his class. He could have just avoided them back then if he did. If he did, then he wouldn't have gotten close to her. But he turned to the other path and eavesdropped from the context of their conversation.

Atushi realized how much drama this was and that he should back down. But Ibuki Sumire huh? They were in the same class. To say he wasn't aware of her presence was one thing. The girl stood out more than him, even if it was for a bad reason. She was someone he had classed at the beginning to stay far, far away from. He felt like if he got involved with her. His normal life would change.

So far, so good, and yet he cannot ignore bullying. Atushi sighed deeply. He may regret this, but he can't just pretend and walk away.

He searched and found her in the back of the school by the furnace area and bravely held out his umbrella to her. At first, he thought she had been crying since her head was held down low. What should I do? He really didn't have any experience with crying girls.

"Your Ibuki Sumire right?" Atushi asked.

Silence. The girl didn't respond, and Atushi immediately started to panic. Maybe this was a bad idea after all? There were all sorts of rumors about this girl, and the rumors that stood out to him were the ones about her violent nature. The timid girl he sees in class is violent and is involved with the underworld.

He thought she wouldn't respond, yet she lifted her head up. "I am."

Oh, she spoke.

It was after that day he began to greet the girl every day. Even though she didn't respond to him at first, eventually, he noticed something different from silent nods to the girl looking back at him. Once their eyes met, she would always turn away and look back at him again. From the corner from where he was sitting, he could see her dainty figure looking back at him.

She felt something towards him. At least, he thought so.

Maybe if he didn't realize it, then they probably would have been able to still carry on getting along. Maybe then he wouldn't have said anything mean. Maybe he wouldn't have stepped over her already fragile heart and broken the girl even more than she already was.

.....

The images of the past fade when his phone starts ringing, snapping him back to reality.

From: Toraga Mikan

I'm waiting at the gate already, where are you?

Atushi didn't bother answering and placed his phone in his pocket, seeing the tall gates of the academy in view.

'I will never get used to walking such a long hill.' Is there any reason why the school is in such an unusual location? After a few minutes, he eventually reached the top of

He immediately spotted the blonde hair girl, who wore her hair in a long ponytail with a heart clip attached.

"I'm here, your highness," Atushi said sarcastically.

"Late!"Mikan exclaimed.

Atushi sighs."I had to report to my parents."

He only just returned from spending his holidays in England, only to be informed that he would be changing schools. He initially intended to refuse, but then Arashi messaged him that Sumire was attending this school too.

Learning that the girl he had been searching for this entire time would be attending. Atushi decided to accept the offer to this school.
