Chapter 2: Unexpected Turn Of Events
With the defense force taking over Dante town, he decided to live temporarily in an abandoned building not too far from his town.
Dante: "It's been 3 days since the attack. I can't believe my mom is dead. Tchh, they can't get away with what they did, but who were they? I need to find out. Luckily, I overheard one of the defense force members talking about that some people from high city saw flying shadows figures. I must find a way to get to high city."
High city. The place where big dreams become reality. It's also one of the biggest hubs for crime organizations, gangs, and celebrities.
Dante: "Those flying shadow people are definitely from there. The main issue is how I'm going to get to high city? You need special permits to enter the city and It's going to take me weeks to get there if I use the bus. I have no choice. Lucky for me I have enough money to buy a bus ticket. Hopefully, it's enough to get me there."
"The next day."
It started raining again, but that didn't stop Dante from walking to the closest bus station, and since his town is off-limits, it's gonna take him days to get to the nearest stop station.
Dante: "I've been walking for over a day now. I'm cold, hungry and there's nothing besides a long road in the middle of a huge grass field. I'll take shelter under the trees near the wood elve's forest until the weather gets better. It's getting dark and very cold. I feel tired, I think I'm just going to close my eyes and take a rest."
'Later in the middle of the night, around 11 pm.'
While Dante was sleeping, he heard a noise that woke him up.
Dante: "Huh? There's a light coming from the elf forest. Maybe people live there. Should I go and check it out? Maybe they'll let me stay the night, and help me. Screw it, I'll just go I have nothing to lose."
As Dante got closer to the forest, He started smelling food coming from the light direction. He was hungry as fuck so he started running deep inside the forest, but then he started noticing that he has been running for a long time now. But the light kept getting further and further. Dante stopped to look around and realized that he was lost deep inside the forest and it was almost pitch black.
Dante: "Don't tell me I'm lost? FUCK! Is this how I'm going to die? Alone and lost in this stupid forest. DAMMIT!! Now what? I'm just going to keep walking towards the light. There's nothing I can do at this point. It's so dark, I can barely see anything in front of me."
As Dante was walking, he didn't notice the end of the cliff in front of him and he fell.
Dante: "WTF Aghhhh NOoooo."
He fell into the river in the middle of the night. Dante couldn't see anything, butheI was fighting to stay alive. After a while, he got tired from fighting and lost consciousness.
"2 days later"
Dante woke up and found himself with bandages over all over his body on a bed inside a small house.
Dante: "My entire body hurts like hell, huh? Where am I?"
A Mysterious old man opened the door. He looked at Dante with an expressionless face.
Master Rex: "So you finally opened your eyes."
Dante: "Who are you? And what did you do to me?"
Master Rex: "Relax kid. I helped you, if not for me you'd be dead by now. What's your name son?"
Dante: "Name is Dante and thanks for helping me. Tell me old man, what's your name?"
Master Rex: "hmm, I've been known for many names through my life, but I guess you can call me Master Rex."
Dante started laughing at him.
Dante: "Master Rex? Really? Is that why you're dressed like an ancient karate master hahaha."
He didn't seem bothered by what dante said. He was more concerned about what happened to him.
Master Rex: "Something like that kid. Anyway, tell me, what are you doing, deep in the elf forests? Didn't your parents tell you not to wander off alone in places like this?"
Dante: "I was lost, cold, hungry, and I saw light coming from the forest, so I followed it."
Master Rex: "You're lucky I found you washed up. Rest up, for now, kid. I'll take you back to your home tomorrow."
Dante looked down at his hands wrapped in bandages and started taking them off.
Dante: "There's no need to take me home. Just take me outside the forest. I'm on a mission."
Rex grabbed a chair and sat down next to my bed and looked at me in the eyes.
Master Rex: "What kind of mission?"
Dante: "my town was attacked by mysterious flying shadow people. They wiped almost my entire town. My mom and my friends died in that attack. I don't know how, but I survived, and now it's my mission to find them and kill them all."
Master Rex: "I'm sorry about what happened to you, but you can't fight those shadows figures. You'll die."
Dante got angry after Rex told him that. He punched the wall next to him in anger.
Dante: "I DON'T CARE, I NEED TO FIND THEM, THEY TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME."
Master Rex: "Do you know how to control your ki?"
Dante: "My ki?" Dante is confused.
Master Rex: "You don't even know what ki is and you want to fight these people?"
Dante: "I don't have time for this nonsense old man. Why should I even care about Ki?"
Master Rex: "Because these shadow figures you saw are ki-users. And from the way, you described them they are not your average ki-user. Not even armies can stop them. What kind of chance a dumb kid like you has?"
Dante got frustrated when Rex told him that, but deep down he knew that Rex was right.
Dante: "I... sigh, you're right, but I have nowhere to go and I don't know what to do. My best friend is dead and the only family I had was killed. I just want the people who did this to pay, and I'm willing to do anything even if it kills me."
Rex stood up and a weird aura started surrounding him. Dante felt a lot of pressure and heat coming from Rex's aura.
Dante: "What is going on? What is this aura surrounding you?"
Rex smiled and said.
Master Rex: "I can teach you how to control your ki, but It's going to take discipline, commitment, and hard work to learn just the basics. Are you up to it?"
At that moment, for the first time in Dante's life, he knew what I wanted.
Dante: "Yes, I'll do anything you want, just please, teach me how to control my ki."
Master Rex: "Hahaha, I did not expect to have a new student after all this time. Fine, but the moment I see you're slacking, I'll kick you out."
Dante: "I promise you won't be disappointed in me."
Inside Dante's head: "This is my only chance to get stronger, to have my revenge. Just wait for me. I promise that I'm gonna make you pay for what you did."
