Chapter 3: Oppurtunity from heaven
Outside, in the auditorium, chaotic noise rattled the atmosphere. The audience was getting angry.
"Is this what we paid for?!"
"Where is Zhao Ying? I came from aboard to attend this concert. I had waited for a long time and paid a lot just to get a ticket and this is how you pay us back!?"
"We knew Zhao Ying was self-entitled but isn't it being too much? How long have we been waiting."
"This is unacceptable! We demand a refund!"
"Alone refund won't do it. What about the time we wasted coming all the way here?! We want a refund and compensation!"
"Boo Zhao Ying! I am never ever buying any of your albums again! I am going to unfollow you all the social media accounts."
As the mob of the angry audience moved forward in a union, the security team felt helpless. A man gave a call to the concert director: "Boss, the situation is getting out of control here. If we delay any other moment, we fear they might break into the establishment. Should we just call off the concert with the promise of the refund?"
"Are you kidding me?! Have you any idea how much I invested in the advertisement for this show!" The director was getting out of control. "Hold off the crowd. I will do something." He threw away the phone and lashed at Xiao Yi. "You! You made me believe nothing will go wrong! Now how do you explain this situation?!"
"Director please give us a minute. Zhao Ying had gone to the stage after a long time. She must have been nervous-"
"Nervous so what?! Countless stars get nervous. Is this what they do?! Running off to somewhere without bothering to inform their crew?! I am telling you, Xiao Yi. I had already taken a big risk when I signed the contract with your agency. If today ends up in failure, I am not just going to sit with you having burden all the losses. I will not rest still until I have Zhao Ying blacklisted from every possible show I have my links in!" The director had really lost it.
Xiao Yi was terrified. "Director, please give us ten minutes!" She deeply bowed in front of him. "I beg you. Just ten minutes. I will have Zhao Ying back at the stage."
"Fine." The director relented seeing the trembling Xiao Yi. He wasn't a bad person. He just had the tendency to lose his temper. The situation could make anyone lose his calm. "Ten minutes. But after that, if your star fails to appear, we will call off the concert. And we are not going to do it again." Saying as final he went away to arrange for some minor singers to play on the stage to placate the audience.
"Everyone!" Xiao Yi took a deep breath. "Look wherever you can. Don't leave a single room. Search every corner of this place. We must find Zhao Ying! She is still inside the building. Security guards confirmed she hasn't left. Find her in ten minutes or we will lose everything we have struggled for until now!"
...
In the makeup room, women were chattering gleefully.
"Can you believe it? Zhao Ying ran from the stage like a dog." A cackle echoed in the room. it was mostly empty.
"Shush Zi Ling. The paps are still wandering around. What if someone quoted what you said." Her assistant kindly reminded.
"Do you think I care? That bit*h is already old news. No one knows her. It is only a small crowd of stubborn fans that have gathered today. But let me tell you. Once news of today's event goes viral, she loses her career." Zi Ling laughed. She played with her fingernails.
"Zi Ling, I have an idea." Suddenly her assistant lightened up. "What if you go and take her place on the stage? You can later say that you did it to save Zhao Ying's face. Not only it would end rumors of you two having a bad relationship, but it would also make public inclined towards you. And you can also win the director's favor if you do well and make the audience happy."
Zi Ling thought her assistant made sense. With a smile, she rose. "Well then, we should go and talk with the director."
That was an opportunity sent from heavens. To play a role in Zhao Ying's demise, Zi Ling couldn't be happier.
