Chapter 2: Unique Prospects

Sonza finally got his ticket for entry and his new healing extract and with this it's time for him to train so he set off and headed towards a local area where weak goblins often roam a place where people try new weapons and equipment not really a place to train but for Sonza this is an intensely difficult area to train in after arriving Sonza had finally had enough and realized something was wrong when the gauges in his vision hadn't disappeared and new gauges above every goblin were there as well along with names like "goblin chief" and "goblin runt" this helped somewhat cause from the names he could assume who was weaker and who was stronger along with the goblins having higher and lower "HP" gauges respectively at just the right moment Sonza pounce on a "goblin runt" and stabbed deep into its back causing its HP bar to deplete to almost empty soon after he punched it in the back of the head causing the bar to disappear and a new image filled his vision "+2 XP" Sonza had no idea what "XP" was or what it meant in any way all he saw was that after he gained some he found a new gauge at the bottom of his vision saying "2/100 XP" Sonza was too caught up in the unique images in his vision to notice the goblin sneaking up on him before he knew it he was stabbed with a jagged sharp rock in the leg his own HP had fallen quite a bit he instinctively jumped and swing at the goblin hitting its head with his fist and swinging his other hand to slash at the goblin but instead the goblin reared back and blocked the attack with a shield made of tree bark "Goblin Warrior" Sonza knew this one would be stronger judging from his name and hp but he also finally noticed how much HP he had lost from the attack and figured if he took another sneak attack he would surely be on deaths door not taking any chances Sonza unleashed a flurry if quick attacks slowly breaking the goblins shield and stance allowing Sonza to get a few attacks in but unlike the runt the goblin warriors health depleted much slower and it had taken almost 10 minutes to bat away all his health Sonza had managed to dodge any attacks during his onslaught as goblins are slow and weak finally Sonza did it and saw his XP gauge fill up by an extra 6 points leaving him at "8/100" but still Sonza was paranoid and scared for any other sneak attacks he collected some trinkets off the two goblins and headed home he walked in around 6 in the afternoon his mom sitting at the table eating a bowl of soup "where were you all day I was worried I even asked Akita to look for you and she couldn't find you" Sonza had yet to notice but Akita was in the living room waiting as well she however was in a dark corner and couldn't be seen unless you were really trying to see her causing Sonza to be caught off guard by a sudden boom "If you run off like this again and get yourself killed I'm gonna kill you again myself you idiot" Sonza had a look of embarrassment and guilt on his face he felt bad he let down his mother and his idol Akita "I'm sorry guys I was helping Jericho move some scraps of metal around and in return he gave me some cool stuff like this ring" he brandished the silver ring showing his mother and friend "and this healing extract" Sonza had yet to pay attention to these items till now but he finally noticed the bottles description along with the rings the bottles read "weak healing potion:capable of restoring 10 HP" and the rings description was even more interesting as it simply read "Ring of empowerment:Wearer of this jewelry will grow stronger" Sonza didn't have time to retain this information before his mother jumped up and hugged him "if we sell that ring we could become rich Hurry the expensive shops are still open a fully silver ring is worth tons of money we must hurry before they close" Sonza instead looked at Akita who had an extremely shocked look on her face Sonza was unsure what to do "I won't sell it" Sonza's mother was shocked this and instead grabbed Sonza's hand and tried to remove the ring herself but To no avail it was as if the ring was stuck on his finger almost like it was embedded into his skin I Sonza broke free from his mother's grip and ran to his room angry at his mother and friend for aspiring against him he closed the door and locked it he laid down and focused on his ring he noticed further text once he focused on the description stating "once this ring is equipped it binds to the user and can't be removed other then death" this worries Sonza because many people would kill for a silver ring so he would have to be careful and hide his ring in public but after a little bit he focused on his knife and saw its description "small butchers knife: +1 speed, 25% bleed chance" the plus to speed is what intrigued him the most as this must mean the ring gives him stats of some sort he then anxiously searched for a stat window but was unable to find any thus he went to sleep.
