There was nothing but a deafening silence in the car as they drove through the island to the hotel that Lance had already booked. 

They had dinner in the hotel's restaurant, and there was nothing but background noise from guests and hotel staff walking back and forth and chatting with each other. 

Lance glanced at Madeline a few times, yet she didn't even spare a glance for him. She was busy with her phone and ate one or two bites of her dinner. 

She kept her phone screen hidden, ensuring Lance couldn't see it.

Lance tried to peek once or twice until he got impatient and asked, "Who are you texting with?"

"It's none of your business, Mr. Grant," Madeline replied curtly. She put her phone inside her bag and took another bite of her dinner before she put the spoon at the side. "I'm full."

"You barely eat anything. Eat more," Lance insisted.
