Chapter 1: Chapter One: Let's get married
Working as his Secretary for 5 years now, she is used to the job. Her long black hair flowed as she strikes her pose. Though her slim shaped body, she still had nice figure. Her skin glowed like pearls under the rays of the sun, she pouted her red but luscious lips and blinked her crystal brown eyes which were beguiling. As usual, she wore a suit trousers and a round neck top. As a Secretary, her dressing should be casual but her boss never complains. Her face may be a little pale but she had natural beauty. She walked in between the crowds of employees.
"Good morning, Secretary Li!" They all greeted in unison.
"Good morning to you all!" she greeted back as she made her way into the CEO's office. Knowing how cold her boss is, she took a deep breath then greeted, "Good morning, Mr Gu!" No response from him. Already used to it, she mumbled in thoughts, ' He has never changed for once'.
"I've already prepared the schedule for today", ignoring his habits, she proceeded with today's activities.
"Go on", a cold voice replied her as he never made eye contact.
"At 8:00 am, you have a meeting with the Chairman of Mingtian Enterprise to discuss about your partnership with them on consumer links products. At 10:30 pm, you have to attend a gala party hosted by your uncle, Mr Rouhan", she concluded.
"Is that all?" he asked nonchalantly.
"Yes, that's all for today", she replied positively.
"About that party, cancel it. Not a fan of parties. Instead, replace it with visiting the Civil Affairs Bureau with Anna Li to get our marriage certificates at 11:00 am right after the meeting", he said while looking at Anna's shocked expression.
Anna, " "! Anna was speechless.
Was Mr Gu proposing to her? This is not happening. Wild thoughts filled her mind.
Catching on with her thoughts, he answered, "Yes, I am proposing to you. Let's get married!"
Her heart thumped faster. Her breath was cut short, forgetting how to breath. Her thoughts ran wild. Though Mr Gu was handsome, his lips were red and pumped, his chiseled abs, deep blue sea eyes, his beguiling structure must have been created from the book of handsome men mythology which is not a thing, his smooth swayed hair, drippy Adam's apple, his glass figurine toned skin. He sure was perfect.
Wait! What was she thinking? He just proposed to her and all she could think of was his perfection. She snapped out of it.
"Mr Gu, what... I mean why do you think marrying me is a good idea?" she stammered for a minute but eventually she asked him.
"How old are you?" he asked randomly.
"I am 23 years old", she seemed a little confused. Why asked such a random question?
"Yet, you have a child with no father. I care about your son well being not you. Besides, marrying me gives you no stress at all. Being my Secretary for 5 years surely you should know what I like and don't like. In addition to my proposal, money problems will be reduced as so you are marrying me", he concluded.
All Anna could say was, " I would like to go on my early shift, Sir".
"Married!" Melilla was more thrilled than Anna, "He really said that?" She broke into laughter.
"Stop laughing! It's not funny", she scolded Melilla.
"Okay", Melilla composed herself, "Did you ask for his reasons?"
"Yeah, I did. Non of those reasons were meaningful", she replied rudely.
"Like?"
"He said he wants to marry me for Toby's sake which I find out of order. Mr Gu never cared about little children, how come? He also said that money won't be my problem anymore. Can you believe that?"
"I don't think he said anything unreasonable. I mean he is making any sense..." she was interrupted.
"Are you supporting him? I can't believe you", she cuts in.
"You think all he had said was meaningful? Let me break down all he had said. For Toby's sake, you had always said he keeps asking for his real father, right?" Melilla asked Anna.
"Yes, he does", Anna replied positively.
"I think what Sean meant was that he would play the role of Toby's father just to avoid invalid questions in the future", Melilla explained.
"But that doesn't mean..." Anna was also interrupted.
"I am not done yet. To solve your money issues, remember that you still owe the loan sharks some money. If you are married to Sean Gu, you will pay the loan sharks even give them little change for Limitable patience. Think about that", she concluded.
"You are actually right. But still, it stills looks a little weird. You know marrying my boss", Anna said with an expression of weirdness on her face.
"Isn't it obvious?" Melilla asked with a duh expression.
Anna, " "
"He loves you", she landed on a conclusion.
Anna broke into laughter, "Mr Gu? Like me? You really know how to make someone crack.
"I'm serious and I know you like him too", she interrogated Anna.
"No way! Who would love a grumpy bear?" she frowned. Not long did a sweet voice called out to her, "Mommy, you are back!" Five years old Toby, hugged his mother tightly, "Mommy,you are back!"
"How was my little sugar plum's day? I hope you had fun with aunt Melilla today?"she said while smiling. She was relieved of her stress when she she saw her happiness right in front of her.
"I didn't have fun. You promised me that you will spend the day with me. Why did you break your promise?" He mumbled in a cute way. She patted his head gently saying, "I am sorry for breaking my promise but mommy had work to do at the office".
"With who?" he was curious to know.
"With my boss", she answered him. What a straight question to ask and adult. This boy sure is full of surprises.
"You mean my daddy?!" he asked feeling overjoyed. He had heard his mom mention a guy's name before. Definitely, he had to be his father. On the other hand, Anna and Melilla were shocked at Toby's statement. Toby was just a little boy, how does he think? He twitched his mind a little too fast to the extent of claiming President Gu as his father.
"What did you say?" she wanted to be sure if she heard him correctly.
"President Gu is my father, right?" He asked again. Anna almost choked but kept her cool, "Melilla, did you hear what Toby said?"
"I heard but trying to wriggle it off my mind",Melilla was in the same situation with her.
"Toby..." her phone rang. It was President Gu.
She picked up her phone to answer the call,"Yes, Mr Gu".
"I'm at the Civil Affairs Bureau, where are you?" a cold voice was heard.
"What?" she asked again.
"Do I have to repeat everything just for you to understand? I said, I'm at the Civil Affairs Bureau. Come right now!" he ended the call.
"Who was that?" Melilla asked.
"It was President Gu. I have to get going",she hurriedly left the house.
Slam! The door was slammed loudly.
"Aunt Melilla, where is mommy going?" Toby asked Melilla.
"Your mom has some important things to take care of. You don't have to worry", she answered while patting his head.
"Okay!" He smiled.
