Chapter 4: Confronting Sae
~~~ With Sae ~~~
It's been a month since the first day, and all of the homeroom teachers of the first years have gathered for their first month's review meeting
"Let's get right into it. We will show the class points of all the classes" said Tomonari Mashima, the homeroom teacher of class 1-A, and pressed on his tablet, and a projector displayed the results on the board behind him:
Class A: 940cp (cp = class points)
Class B: 650cp
Class C: 490cp
Class D: 0cp
"Looks like your class is far behind, Chabashira-Sensei" said Kazuma Sakagami, class C's homeroom teacher in a mocking tone
"That doesn't matter to me" Sae said in an apathetic tone
"If you say so..." said Kazuma with an evil smirk
"That's enough. Next, we'll show the Top 5 students in private points" said Tomonari and pressed on his tablet again, switching the screen:
1. Class B - Ichinose Honami -1,400,000pp (pp = private points)
2. Class D - Shinji Ayanokoji - 860,000pp
3. Class A - Arisu Sakayanagi - 349,000pp
4. Class A - Kohei Katsuragi - 189,000pp
5. Class A - Masayoshi Hashimoto - 177,000pp
"Someone from class D got 860,000 points!?" exclaimed Kazuma in shock
"I heard that class B are using the bank method, but I'm genuinely surprised about the student from class D. Is your class also uses the bank method, Chabashira-Sensei?" asked Tomonari
"No..." answered Sae, still in shock
"I don't think that there was ever a student from class D that had so many points! Looks like you got some interesting students too, Sae-Chan!" said Chie Hoshinomiya, class B's homeroom teacher, in excitement
"That's will be all for this month's review" said Tomonari and the meeting ended
~~~ With Shinji ~~~
As Shinji entered the class, he was approached by Kikyo. Since they usually hang out together with their group, Kikyo and Shinji got quite close. Of course, not close enough for Kikyo to reveal her secret to him, but still pretty close
"Did you also didn't get any points today?" Kikyo asked him worriedly
"No. It's pretty weird since it's a prestigious school" Shinji said while thinking:
'I wonder if she knows about the cp, or if she's clueless' Shinji thought as he tried to look for some kind of a sign that will tell him if she's faking her worry
"Shinji-Kun! I didn't get any points!" said Kei as she clung to his arm. He also got closer to Kei, since she's also in their group. Sometimes, she's sneaking glances at him, like she wants to tell him something.
"Relax, Karuizawa-San. I'm sure that Chabashira-Sensei will explain it to us when she'll come"
Almost a second later, the door opened and Sae entered the classroom, saying:
"Everybody, sit in your seats"
"Sensei, we didn't get our points today!" said Haruki
"That's impossible. Your points have been already delivered to you"
"But we didn't get any points!" said Kanji, which led to numerous whispers and nods from some of the students. Shinji watched with amusement, as the regular cold expression of his homeroom teacher, changed into a mocking expression
"You truly are a bunch of idiots" Sae said mockingly, causing the class to quickly quiet down, and look at their teacher in shock
"A combination of 98 tardies and absences. 391 times of talking and cell phone usage in class. In this school, your grades and performance evaluations will affect the amount of points you receive every month, and you lost all of the points you're supposed to get, which means that the amount of points you received this month is... 0" Sae said, making everyone gape
"Did you think that the school will give you 100,000 yen without any catch? That's absurd. It was told to you on the first day, didn't it? This school judges students based on merit, which means that all of you are worth nothing"
All of the students were silent, all in shock of the development, and some don't even understand the situation
"Let me write it on the board so it will be clear for you" Sae said and started to write the amount of cp every class received this month:
Class A: 940cp
Class B: 650cp
Class C: 490cp
Class D: 0cp
"This is the S-system. It assesses the students and calculating them into numerical values. You have done wonderfully, that you ranked last, proving that you're the most defective class this year. You're the first class ever to lose all of its points in one month"
"Sensei, at least tell as how points are gained or lost" said Yosuke as he stood up
"Like in the real world, I can't tell you the details of your performance evaluations.
These are the class points each class has. One class point equals to 100 private points. On the first day, each class had 1,000cp. You lost all of them. But don't worry, you will have chances to earn points, and if you earn more cp than class C, you will promote to class C, and class C will demote to class D. Your closest chance will be in the upcoming midterms. You have a chance to earn as many as 100 cp, depending on your scores.
However... these are the results of the last quiz" Sae said and hanged the results sheet on the board
"These are horrible scores. Starting from the upcoming midterms, anyone who fails at the midterms or finals will be expelled from the school" Sae said, making the class gape again
"Sensei, I don't think that we're the only ones to blame" said Shinji and stood up
"What are you talking about?" Sae asked, narrowing her eyes
"Even if it's obvious that bad behavior will result in a punishment, it's also your fault for not alarming us. When someone sees he can get away with misbehavior, he'll do it repeatedly, until he'll be punished. But you haven't done anything to stop us, despite knowing the consequences"
"What exactly are you implying?"
"I'm saying that you deliberately hid information from us. I heard that you take your frustration out on the class you teach since you couldn't rise from class D yourself"
"Who told you that?"
"Does it matter? The fact remains that you try to hurt our chance to promote since you couldn't do it yourself"
Then, the bell rang, indicating the end of homeroom
"All of you, go to have a free hour at the pool. Ayanokoji, stay here" Sae said in a threatening tone
Everybody ran out of the class, leaving Shinji and Sae alone
"Now..."
~~~ With Yosuke ~~~
Yosuke and the rest of the class quickly arrived at the pool. Yosuke and the rest of the boys quickly changed into their swimsuits and went to the pool. Shortly after, all of the girls arrived as well, and they all started to play at the pool
"Hirata-Kun, what do you think will happen to Shinji-Kun? Even if he's right, he still spoke rudely to the teacher..." asked Kikyo worriedly
"That bitch! She hid all of that from us! Who does she think she is!?" Kei shouted in anger and punched the water, causing water to splash at Maya that stood nearby
"Hey!"
"Sorry..." Kei apologized but immediately received a splash of water from Maya. Quickly enough, they all entered a splashing war
~~~ With Shinji ~~~
Sae glared at Shinji for a few seconds, before landing on her chair, sighing deeply
"Did you had to make me the villain?"
"It's nothing personal against you, Sensei. The class needed a motivation to work harder, and what better motivation there is than a common enemy?"
"I see. But you as well have hidden it from them. There is no way you could've gotten this amount of points without knowing about it" Sae said and smirked
"And I did it because of the same reason as you"
"Oh?"
"As I knew, you knew that if we'll say it from the start, most of them wouldn't have taken it seriously. They had to experience the loss of points, to be able to believe in it"
"I'm curious. How did you get 860,000 points?"
"It's pretty easy. I got the student list of each class in the third year. Then, I challenged a couple of people from class D for a poker round during the breaks. If I won, they'll give me information, and if they won, I'll give them points. After easily defeating them, I got my hand on the information about the hierarchy between the classes in the third year, and from there it was pretty easy.
All I had to do is to approach a B class upperclassmen during the breaks and say that I have the president's weak point, which could be used for them to advanced to class A, and played poker with them also, this time they'll get the president's weak point in case they win, and If I win, I'll get 100,000 points"
"You're saying that you won every single time?"
"Who knows? I assume that it's okay for me to leave now?"
"Yeah, you're free to go"
As Shinji walked towards the door, he turned around and said one last thing:
"However, it seems that you saw my points only from this morning"
"What are you talking about?"
"After all..." Shinji said and took out his phone and showed it to Sae
"I don't have 860,000 points anymore..." Shinji said and walked out of the class, leaving a shocked Sae
'He just said that he got his points from playing poker during breaks... Then how... does he have 954,000 points!?'
