Chapter 2: Heaven??
I stood in front of the two-story modern house.
Home sweet home. Only this wasn't that sweet of a home.
My dad and I don't exactly see eye to eye. Not because he's half a head shorter but because I'm a "Loser" as he puts it. By the time I graduated high school, my bags were already on the driveway.
It might seem cruel but...yea I got nothing in defense. It was fucking cruel to kick me out like that.
As for the reason why I'm still standing in front of this house well let's just say my dad isn't currently home. My mom or should I say my stepmom is on good terms with me. Thank god for that.
I pressed on the doorbell and a voice from the inside said, " Coming!"
A few seconds later a middle-aged woman opens the door. She took one look at me and a smile appears on her face.
"Oh, your here honey. Come in. I just made dinner." She said as she led me into the house.
Hearing dinner was very nice after a very long car ride. I walked up the stairs to put my stuff down in the "guest" room.
When I came downstairs dinner was already on the table. My stepmom, Christine, was also sitting at the table ready to eat.
Christine has always been the mother figure in my life ever since my mom died when I was 10. She had made my life bearable with the type of father I had. Shes have always been there for me throughout the years.
"So what happened this time?" She asked as she took a bite of the chicken.
"Nothing much. They said I play around a lot." I tried to not say the silly thing I did. I mean it's one thing doing it but to have to recount it...nope.
What kind of idiot gets fired for refusing to leave an elevator for 2 hours straight.
Sigh.
Christine sighed and looked at in the eyes and said, "You know you cant keep this silliness upright? Your 24 now and its time to start maturing a little."
"I know. I have no choice." I said helplessly.
"Everyone has a choice, Drew." She said and continued eating.
'Well, not me.' I couldn't say it since it sounded like an excuse. The rest of the dinner was spent in silence.
After dinner, I went up to my room and took out my laptop to play some games. As I was doing that I felt a sharp pain on the palm.
"Hmmm. A new mission." I mumbled as I looked at my palm.
"What's this?"
Instead of a mission like usual, there was something completely different. It was a countdown timer.
There were exactly 30 secs left.
"System! What is this dude?? What happens in 30 seconds?"
I freaked out. I mean who wouldn't. What the fuck was this timer for? Was it good? Bad?
I had too many questions and I didn't know what the fuck to do. I just stared at the seconds going one by one.
Exactly 30 seconds later a text appears on my palm.
System: Preparing Synchronization
What does that even mean??
Before I could do anything, I felt extremely sleepy all of a sudden. I tried to fight it but it was too strong.
I had a weird dream.
In the dream, I saw Earth-like I was seeing it from outer space. It was breathtaking, to say the least. As I marveled at the beautiful sight, A giant glowing ball of fire suddenly came crashing into the planet.
I screamed but there was no sound. Then I remembered I was in a dream. 'What a real dream...'
After the first fireball, another one, then another one came. In total, I counted 12.
12 fireballs crashed into Earth but the catastrophic explosions that took out the dinosaurs didn't appear. It was way too calm.
The scene changes and I found myself in a crowded place. In front of us, there was a giant Pillar. No, not a pillar more like a mega tower. It was truly way too big.
I saw people going in and out in groups. They were wearing strange uniforms with all kinds of weapons.
"What The fuck is this dream?" I had no idea dreams were so vivid and long. Why do I feel so awake??
That's when I noticed a person flying in superman type suit. Yup. Can't make it up. A man was literally just standing in midair. Nobody seems to mind it which was even weirder.
Suddenly I felt like something was pulling me. It was more like a yanking sensation. Everything turns dark.
'I can feel my body again.' I slowly opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was white. Everything was completely white.
'Am I perhaps in heaven?'
