Chapter 3: Part 3

A few years later Leslie and Noah lived happily together. They were now living in another land, in love, married and with two children, two beautiful little girl of five and three.

Leslie was living a honest life with no more killing. But one day her past caught her up.

She came across Anna in the market. Anna at the time was like a sister to her, they could understand each other without a word.

The two friend were shocked. Leslie took the initiative, she grabbed her hand and went to a coffee shop that was less crowded.

Anna was listening to the story of Leslie, she didn't say a word until the end. When it was finished she said '' I am sorry but I need to report you. It's the rule. Normally I should kill you this instant... but I can't. '' There was a sad tone in her voice obviously she couldn't understand why Leslie had run away for love.

If she was reported, she would need to live a life of fugitive : hide herself and her family, constantly moving to different places, it would be a tough life but she couldn't do everything else. And it was worth it if she could live with her beloved ones.

However, she offered Anna to stay a night in her house, after all it would be the last time she saw her. Strangely the old friend accepted.

When they returned home the two girls ran to their mother calling her '' Mom! Mom you're back!'' they were smiling with a bright and gentle smile. The evening passed quietly Noah was on a trip for work, they discussed a little, the atmosphere was better an friendlier than before.

Anna was surprised and smothered by the love between Leslie and her children, she now understand the choice of her friend.

She stood up, walked to the door, ''Anna?'' asked two little girl and their mother at the same time. Anna turned to face them and said '' I will not report you, but I need to go, I hope you will have a happy life all together''.

In respond Leslie made a bright and happy smile, one that Anna had never seen before on her friend's face. Anna then knew that she had made the right choice. She gave a timid smile because she was truly thankful that Leslie coul have a beautiful life but at the same time she was saddened by the fact that she would never see her again.

Anna opened and walk through the door, disappearing into the infinity of the night, hoping that the gentle light of the stars would guide her, as a candle that lit up the path to a better and happy life.
