Chapter 1: Lady SilverFang
A majestic Silver dragon was soaking in her abode, she had dug these caves out herself on the very top of the fourth tallest peak in all of Dragon Rock! She had earned this Privilege from the war, using her incredible wit and strategic mind she quickly made a name for herself in the Dragon Guard, the main defenders of Dragon Rock. She slew many humans in the early years of war, it was only after her mate Lord Wrec SilverFang died in the first assault of the traitorous Colour dragons and she found out she was with a clutch that she stepped back from the war to use the political power she had gained with her standing in the war to try and secure a future for her Line.
She was due to lay her eggs any day now and was in a great amount of pain thus she was laying in her pool to try and take the weight off of her gleaming scaly back, if only just. "Oh Wrec I wish you were here my love," she huffed out as she finally got the will to leave her warm pool of crystal clear water. She made her way to the nest just one room over from the pool, she hoped today would be the day her eggs finally laid and she could sleep for a few months as she waited for her eggs to hatch. The baby dragons mostly developed inside the eggs when they were still in her womb, the warm embrace of her body was the perfect place for their growth. The eggs also needed to breathe in the latter stages of development, hence a warm nest was a must for every dragon lair.
Lady SilverFang fell asleep in her nest for the night after much moaning and discomfort. she awoke in the middle of the night in blessed pain as the time had finally come! "Sister Fen, come quickly the time is near!" she called out to her only surviving clutch sibling that was also living with her since her Lords death.
A beautiful silver dragon with great horns stretching backwards in a graceful arch stepped into the nesting cave at her call, "Sister! how many do you think you will lay! it is your first clutch after all! the beautiful dragon said as she stepped closer to her heaving sister.
Lady SilverFang was huffing in great pain a few hours later and yet again another egg made its way out in the open much to sister Fen's amazement! "5 EGGS! you are truly blessed by magic! we haven't had a clutch this big in our line for generations!" the graceful dragon said in congratulations to the Lady.
Lady Silverfang was also stunned but a moment later pain once again surged through her body as to everyone's amazement a sixth egg was going to be laid! "SIX EGGS !" she screamed at sister Fen.
Six eggs in one clutch was a sign of how pure the bloodline she carried was, only the upper nobility could occasionally have clutches of 6 or more, even then it was kind of rare. This meant that her future would be bright if she could leverage this outcome to the fullest! The Royal Silver Dragon families would go crazy with jealousy once they found out about her clutch, her family's prospects could only improve now!
"Sister Fen please spread the word of my clutch to the other leaders please if we are to capitalize on this quickly the faster they know the better, now I must eat and rest! Thank you once again sister for looking out for me while I was with a clutch!" she said as she closed her eyes in exhaustion, it was a very long clutch birthing. She fell asleep within minutes as she kept one eye slightly open staring at her clutch until the deep breaths of unconsciousness took over.
Months later a much more rested mother dragon opened her eyes staring at her unblemished silvery-white eggs, with the shimmer on her eggs that all metallic dragon eggs had, making it glimmer in the light spots that flashed across its surface. "My precious little ones, soon it will be the time of hatching, may the magic guide you all!" she whispered out in excitement as she heard a small scratching from one of the eggs signaling that it was time! "Come out my little ones,' she said as more scratching could be heard from the eggs.
Finally, a crack appeared in one egg shell as a small silver claw managed to pierce through to the outside of the silver shell, as soon as the breach appeared in the egg the occupant became much more active, 2 claws started flashing out almost in a panic as it tried to make a hole big enough to get a silvery snout out into the air drawing in a deep breath as it quickly exhaled a slimy liquid from its nose clearing its airways to take a deeper breath of the fresh air as a squeak came from within the egg, more eggs started to shift and more claws managed to pierce the shells and the same scenes played out with variations of how long it took to break a big enough holes to get a small silver snout out for more breathing and the clearing of airways, as scratching came from the one of the last eggs that was still unopened a small limb flashed through the eggshell making a large gap that a small but bright snout proceeded to exit, this snout was larger than its fellow clutch mates by a noticeable degree.
Seeing the hole that the baby in the egg made, Lady SilverFang became excited! "My first clutch and I hatched a male child!" she said as the babies larger snout came out and took another breath before it forced its head through the opening revealing a wet, squawking pool of silver and slime from what was left of the egg sack, the little wyrmling managed to get its feet under it just in time for one of the other eggs to burst open revealing another male! This made Lady SilverFangs heart fall, seeing the second male had made her happy for an instant before millennia of instincts and traditions of the old ways took over.
Male dragons were rarer than female dragons, as a rule, if more than one male is born to a clutch then the traditions of old forbid the parents from interfering in the clutch death fight that would happen when they both hatched.
