Chapter 4—Birth of New Slime.

Ganesh felt a sharp light in his vision; it took him a few seconds to adjust.

After his vision turned normal, he was greeted by a glowing black orb in the sky. It throbbed faintly.

'A black sun?'

He felt a chill which was not from the cold, but rather an eerie and unpleasant chill. But he couldn't even process much when—Tap!—he felt a tap on his head.

He turned around and saw a cute viscous blue blob about 30 centimeters wide—hugging him tightly.

'What a cutie,' he melted in its cuteness.

"Hello, my dear child," it said in a cheerful voice as it kept rubbing its soft, jelly body on him.

'It speaks,' he jumped up in shock, hearing the delicate thing speak in a mature lady's voice.

"Who are you?" he questioned, calming down, looking doubtfully at the slime.

The blue slime had its jelly body extended a little on both sides, which had shaped its hands.

"I am your mama," the ball replied, extending its jelly hands towards him.

Wanting to shake her hands, he tried to form his hands.

Woo!

Jelly liquid extended from both sides of his body, forming two small hands with five fingers.

'Good, I have hands, I almost thought I couldn't clap,' he wiped his non-existent sweat.

His mama held his hands and rubbed him affectionately.

He tried to turn his body away, but couldn't as he was held by her.

He quickly glanced around from her embrace, taking notice of his surroundings. It was a grassy field surrounded by wooden fences on all sides.

He also took note of a large wooden trough at the southern fence, which had clean water. He roughly estimated that 60 to 70 slimes were playing around.

After a few minutes of rubbing, she left him and went to the other slimes, leaping up and down with—Plop-plop-plorp.

'Looks like I got a loving mother again, which is good,' he mused happily, hoping his previous life's mother had selected a good race and trait.

'Let's check that fence first,' he tried moving to the fence, but he couldn't move forward, as he didn't have legs.

'I cannot move forward,' he mused, then rolled instinctively—wob!—and to his surprise, he succeeded.

Wob-Wob!

He quickly rolled towards the fence. He touched the fence with his hands. It was wooden and low quality, but it was tough enough to stop slimes breaking it.

'This should be a cage,' he understood, looking at the fence which was almost one meter—multiple times taller than him.

'I should escape, slimes are food for most races,' he remembered the description mentioned in the panel.

He glanced at the water trough. He quickly tried to roll towards it, but he stopped as he glanced at the bouncing slimes; not a single one was rolling like him, instead—Plop-plop—bouncing off the ground.

"It seems the walking pattern of slimes," he muttered silently and put pressure to the ground from his body and tried to leap as—Plop—he took off!

'Whoa!' he was able to reach at least one meter high into the air.

He kept—Wob-Plop—jumping forward and reached the wooden trough that had water.

His image emerged in the water: he was a small 30 cm slime just like his mother— his blue viscous body, which was slightly transparent.

He had two cute black gems in the upper section of the body, which were his eyes, and a white core in the center of his body.

He noticed that a small opening in the middle—probably his mouth.

'Coming to the mouth, I seem to be able to communicate directly without any training,' he didn't know how, but he was able to speak—listen—it should be a skill, as he understood.

After figuring out it might be due to his skill, he couldn't wait as he shouted in his mind, "Status!"

'I long wanted to do this,' he grinned with his small mouth of Slime's body; he was very adorable despite not having any teeth while laughing.

A blue-colored shimmering panel popped up in his vision.

"I'm unnamed, I hope I am not an unnamed extra in a novel," he muttered dubiously, as it was the first thing he'd noticed.

"Well, I'll name myself Ganesh." He wanted to keep his previous life name as—ding—a new panel popped up in front of him.

[ Ding! You lack the mana to name yourself! ]

"Tch! At least a nameless extra would get his name after reincarnating," he said with a scowl in annoyance.

He calmed down and mused, 'I have to train skills and escape from here. It would be best if I could train some underlings.'

As he was lost in his mind—Thud—thud—thud. Two humans entered the field by opening the wooden fence.

A rough man in his forties with grey hair at the corners of his head in a darkened wool tunic—due to years of relentless wear—and a woman behind him seemed an ordinary village lady in her thirties, but had a sharp look in her eyes, and her tunic clothes were in the same shape as the man's.

"Xhhhvhbb %^%$&&," the lady said with a grin, pointing at Ganesh and a few other slimes.

"SHG &%*%," the man also replied with a smile.

'What are they saying? I cannot understand them; I mastered slime language but failed human?' Ganesh felt he'd been given a major disadvantage.

He couldn't comprehend them, but their grin while pointing at them sent a chill down his entire core.
