Chapter 3: Timing is Key
Vicar felt the bright sun(even though he can't feel anything) and walked deeper into the heart of the forest. After a while, he heard some noises. He used his jelly body to jump onto one of the branches to hide.
Vicar identified the noises, it was General Silvester and his squad members. He saw that all looked like westerners until he noticed a guy in the back carrying all the camping and weapon equipment, he looked like an average Chinese man. Vicar followed to the group for a while, and during this time learned a bit about them, there was General Silvester, Mage Sophia, Tanker Derrick, and Archer Lin Min. The archer was the Chinese guy and the one Vicar was most interested in.
Vicar was at first confused "How can I understand them, they don't seem to be Cantonese?"
The Great Sage system answered "Through magic sense, you can focus on the intent of the words allowing you to understand what they are saying"
Vicar understood, even though he didn't know why that worked exactly, he later asked "System, can you scan the guy, Lin Min?"
The System responded, "Lin Min is a summon, he was brought to this world by a summoner, by the knowledge given by Midderas I have concluded that he has somehow temporarily escaped from his Summoners hand, but will die in 30mins."
Vicar shouted to himself "WHAT, he's gonna die?"
The system then responded, "Yes, that is what I said, are you, okay sir?"
Vicar felt a bit of sympathy as he is a somewhat similar situation as Lin Min, but he wouldn't get too attached.
The system all of a sudden said "He has a tattoo of time, if I can get my hands on that, I can improve your physique to a time-oriented one, and we can gain the laws of time, my calculation conclude that Lin Min was a failed experiment by the summoner to understand the laws of time, due to the failure the time Lin Min experiences is way faster than his body can handle causing him to die younger, If I can analyze the time tattoo, I can fix the mistakes."
Vicar then felt even worse, but he occasionally read the Wuxia novels that were famous and he knew almost every novel had the quote, "The strong rule and the weak fear." or something like that.
15 minutes before Lin Min dies, General Silvester decided to rest for a while, so Lin Min set up the equipment and set a fire, all the while everyone else was sitting on the grass and having fun.
Vicar scowled, underneath his facade a little upset "It seems that they aren't fond of Lin Min, is it because he is eastern? Whatever, not my problem."
After 15 more minutes, Lin Min was laying in his tent when all of a sudden he passed away, no one even noticed he died, well no one except Vicar Tempest.
He snuck into the tent with Lin Min dead and absorbed him using the God Devourer skill. After a minute the system spoke, "The tattoo has been analyzed, updating stats table."

Vicar saw the option to transform into a human and immediately transformed, Vicar grew taller, and he had actual skin instead of slime, and he was very much naked.
Vicar spoke, "System use Magic Sense to look at self."
System answered "Activating Magic Sense, 3rd person mode."
Vicar looked up and down, he now looked like a shorter younger version of Lin Min except, he had no gender, Vicar was shocked, he didn't have his tower of babel anymore, inside he started crying.
Vicar was now androgynous, but he still identified as a male. Vicar wore the clothing Lin Min was wearing, it was a little bit too big due to him shrinking a little.
After walking out of the tent, the Mage Sophia looked at him and shouted with shock "LIN MIN?"
The others also looked at Vicar with puzzled expressions. Then he realized why, Vicar was too busy about his missing... body part... that he forgot, his hair turned blue like the color of him as a slime.
Vicar tried to explain "Uhhh, I dyed my hair, do you like it?"
General Silvester gave a chilling stare and drew his sword, he asked: "Who are you and what did you do with the archer slave?"
Vicar knew he wouldn't get out of this situation so easily and transformed back into a Slime "Sir I am just a slime, the person in the tent died suddenly so I ate him which allowed me to transform into him."
General Silvester slid the sword back in the holster and ordered Mage Sophia, "Sophia, capture this slime, it might be useful for the kingdoms experiments, there have never been any reports of talking slimes."
Mage Sophia nodded her head towards the General, she then looked at Vicar and shouted "Ice Prison!!!"
A blue magic circle appeared under Vicar, a burst of ice formed and started to freeze Vicar.
Vicar started mumbling "It is too early for me to die, I can't why is everything going white, this is really the end, wait I don't feel anything."
The system spoke "You have cold resistance, you will not feel any pain from the cold as long as it is only a wide range of attack and not a targeted attack. As the Great Sage System, I have the power to analyze almost anything, due to Ice Prison being a low-end spell I could instantly analyze it but higher grade spells are a bit more difficult."
Mage Sophia, thinking that the slime was frozen, stopped the spell, inside the block of ice Vicar looked lifeless. General Silvester looked at the slime in confusion "I thought it would be a little more powerful, is Lin Min that weak that he was killed by this slime, Sophia..."
General Silvester was about to say something when a crack appeared on the ice, it shattered open and Vicar showed a pouting face (even though he doesn't have a face), and Vicar growled "That was rude, how could you try and capture me without even trying to communicate, it seems I have to teach you some manners?"
General Silvester and the 2 didn't take anything seriously, slimes are the weakest monsters, and how powerful could this one be.
In the air, the flow of mana distorted as a black cloud appeared above the slime, Sophia was the first to notice it due to her being a mage, then General Silvester and Tanker Derrick also felt it. They tried to block but they were too late, a black lightning struck from the sky and gathered above Vicar.
Actually, the Black Lightning was supposed to intimidate the group before he used the Paralyzing Poison Breath, but it seemed the lightning was too much and they passed out by just its presence.
He asked the system "The lightning wasn't this powerful in the cave, what is going on?"
The system answered "In the cave, it was closed meaning you had to use your own mana to create the lightning, also there was a lightning inhibition spell, most likely of Midderas. Due to these 2 factors, it is much more powerful here."
Vicar scoffed "So this isn't my fault, why didn't you tell me beforehand?"
The System answered, "I cannot answer or speak without a question. But you can set presets if you like, you can set presets in the setting menu in the top right corner of the stat menu."
Vicar stopped talking to the system and started talking to himself "Man, this timing is amazing, first the weakened Dragon that brought the law of lightning and now the law of time from eating a weak human, amazing, maybe I should get out of here with the law of time."
He turned into the human form and lifted his hand, the law of time started to rotate around him, his mana depleted instantly as in an instant he reached a nearby town, Vicar didn't teleport, he built up a time pocket dimension using all of his mana and actually over drafting and reached the town. Leaving behind the General, Mage, and Tanker in the forest, still passed out.
