Chapter 9: Snap 9: Fate.
While it wasn't much, that light dazzled me. I could tell she had potential.
"What can you do with it?" I said, almost in a daze.
"I don't know," She said softly, "This is all I know how to do..."
"That's alright, surely you'll get something from all this," I said "To be able to do your part."
While we were having that moment, those three appeared inside.
I could see Mars' and Venus' heads were red, as if someone hit them. Jupiter then said:
"Good grief, what am I going to do with you two." She looked to us and said "I have to say sorry for those two idiot daughters of mine. Apologize you two!"
"Sorry..." They said in unison, eyes watering.
"Sorry for what?" I said. What were they apologizing for?
"The bank situation," Jupiter replied massaging her temples trying to keep it together, "They let themselves get caught, even when I was asleep, when I was vulnerable."
"What?! Why would you do something like that?" Ai replied, of all people.
They explained they were trying to test us.
"When we learned Aleks suddenly got blessed with powers we got mad, we wanted to see if he was worthy." Mabel replied.
"Mad? What was there to be mad about?"
"Kid, you don't know the half of it," Jupiter said, munching on chips again, all of a sudden. "Either way consider they're next in line for Godhood."
God's? Them? Of all people? I struggled to hide my laugh.
"Laugh all you want kid, but as my kids either of them will inherit one of my Godly positions, the other will receive the remaining."
Ai had no idea with the God thing so we had to fill her in.
"I told you I was the God of Time right? Well, it's only half the truth. I'm the God of Space and Time, inherited from my own Mother and Father. They only had one kid, so I was forced to take on two positions. Now I have two of my own, so it'll be split up again."
"If they're your kids," Ai asked, "Who's the father?"
"No one," Jupiter teleported behind the two of them and held the side of their faces with a warm smile, while their faces turned a little red. "I made them of my own image. Due to the strange circumstances of my Godhood, I was born infertile, I could never bear children. So I made my own." She motioned to Mars, "One similar to me as a child, yet unique in her own way," She motioned to Venus. "And one if I had grown properly, another curse of my strange birth."
"However..." Her face swelled with rage. " I didn't expect them to be such IDIOTS!" She hit their heads again.
As they rubbed their heads, I properly took notice of her features. Jupiter was rather short, eyes a bright green and hair a very pale brown, swirled into twintails. She was, for all intents and purposes, rather cute.
Jupiter went on to explain Ai's predicament.
Not before she checked her Flow, like she did mine.
"The Light within you... it's rather potent to day the least." She said. "It seems as though it's closely tied to Nature, of all things. Power has always been within Nature, your potential is immense."
"I always liked forests. Back home, I'd always wander around, just taking it in." Ai said, red in the face a bit.
Jupiter looked at me and said "Your fighting potential is high, once you learn to alter your Flow and use your light."
"Why're you talking about Power all of a sudden?" I questioned.
Her face turned rather somber. "Danger approaches. A danger you are Fated to encounter. Fate binds you to this Future."
"Oh, so we just have to beat some bad guys right? That shouldn't be hard, right?" Ai said.
"If only it were that simple. Fate binds you, yes. But, the Demons that approach, you are merely Fated to Fight. Whether you win or lose... that's up in the air. In truth, there's a high chance you lose."
"And if we lose?" I said desperately.
Jupiter chuckled sadly. "Then our Era is... Finished. Over. Gone."
