Chapter 19: The grim reaper!

Evans pov

I thought that I would be traveling with the other slaves but the carriage was smaller and was filled by the four other girls that the lady had brought. They looked at me apologetically as they tried to shift to make space for me. One was considerate enough to leave the seat and sit on the floor of the carriage when the man who had paid for us came there.

"You do not need to do that. We have more carriages.'' The man looked kind to me with the way he spoke, but then again I could not forget how they had cut and whipped the man from the slave establishment. Not that I felt bad for them, it was just that I did not want to meet the same end!

"Come with me." said the man as a guard closed the door of the carriage and I nodded. I thought that I would go to another carriage of servants but surprisingly the man brought me to the carriage of the lady who had brought me.

"Do you think I have all the leisure time to wait for you while you stare at me?" she asked as i stood there frozen and did not enter the carriage.

Her voice was sharp and cold, yet it felt like I had heard it somewhere. She was looking no less than a snow queen with her frozen eyes and expressions. I shook my head as I entered.

For now i did not want to irk her as i have seen how easy it was for her to kill someone. And I could not forget about the rumors the people of the slave establishment have shared with me about her killing the slaves for her entertainment.

As the carriage started my eyes started to wander around and I looked at the passing of town and market from the window. The carriage was so silent that it was giving an eerie feel.

I discreetly turned to look at the lady whom people call 'Death angel!' which felt very strange to me when i have heard it for the first time,

But now I can see why!

Her face was so fair that even the angels faded in front of her. Her golden hair was shining as if it were made of gold threads. Her green eyes were cold yet mesmerizing. Her sharp nose and her full lips were redder than the blood. She had never seen someone this beautiful. But the way she killed others, did this beauty even matter in front of that?!

I looked at how she was sitting silently. If I did not know any better, I would have thought that she was a statue that was made by the world's best sculptor.

I was so lost at looking at her that I forgot I had to be discreet. I only realized when she turned suddenly and looked straight into my eyes. I shuddered as her cold gaze pierced my skin.

"I hate it when people stare at me." Her eight word sentence was able to scare me more than the most threatening line in the world and I closed my eyes and decided to play dead.

But my stomach has other ideas. The moment I closed my eyes, it started grumbling. I could just pray that she did not pay attention to it. Once, twice, thrice, when it continued to grumble, I heard her sighing.

"Please ignore this, my lady.'' I replied as I opened my eyes and looked at her annoyed face.

"Even a deaf could not ignore these loud sounds!" came another harsh reply and my will to run away has never been stronger than this ever.

I was sure she would kill me even before we reached our destination with the way she was looking at me. The only thing that was still assuring me was she would not kill something so easily on which she had spent 10,000 gold coins.

"I apologize, my lady." I said, drinking my annoyance too. For now, living was the main motive!

"Stop apologizing like a dumb person. When was the last time you had eaten something." she asked with irritation and at that moment i realized i could not satisfy her no matter how sweetly and humbly I would talk to her.

Suddenly the woman who was sitting there in a red dress turned into a grim reaper with a block cloak over her body and a big scythe in her hands. I could see her red eyes that were filled with bloodlust and my whole body turned frozen. I opened my mouth to speak but no words formed.

"Stop the carriage right here." I heard her speaking and I blinked but the image of a grim reaper did not clear my eyes.

"No" I shouted with all the energy left in my body and finally I was able to hear my own voice.

"Why are you shouting?" asked the grim reaper as I saw her scythe shining with the rays of sun falling over it. It was looking so sharp that I was sure my neck would be no more than butter for it to cut in one swift motion.

"No, I do not want to be killed this early. I apologize, but I am still young. I would do anything you say, master.. No mistress, no grim reaper, no ghoul. Please just spare my life.'' I joined my hands in front of me as I pleaded from the death reaper in front of my eyes, but her expressions did not soften at all as she continued to stare at me with the same bloodlust in her eyes, if any, it seemed to be increasing.

"I beg you, grim reaper, I will tell no one that you are a devil, please just spare my life."

"........"
