Chapter 6: Chapter 6: An Annoying Worm

The murmuring voices disappeared as we move farther away from the Awakening Hall, the voices may have vanished but the sound of my inner monologue still continues.

I may have no Martial Soul, but with the knowledge of my past life, I could become a famed blacksmith once again in this magical world, maybe even surpass my previous level, it's just that the furnace that brought me otherworldly abilities is not in my side, can I still become one?

No, that is negative thinking, even though I cannot be the best, I could still be considered an expert with my polished skills and experiences, in this life, I will live a cheat-less life and attain prominence with my own abilities.

An invigorating feeling covered my whole body as if I was in a state of enlightenment, the doubts and worries in my heart disappeared, and I could feel the smoke blocking my dreamscapes disappear, I felt great.

"Son, are you alright?"

My father looked at me anxiously, to which I replied with a cherishing smile.

"Father, it doesn't matter if I do not have a Martial Soul, being a Soul Master isn't the only path in the world, I could also reach heights with just myself" I answered sincerely from the bottom of my heart.

"HAHAHA, that's right son, are you really a five-year-old at that? Anyway, who said that my talented son cannot achieve anything in life, as long as one's will guides, the heart can follow and ascend within its own spike ladders!"

I was frightened by the sarcastic question but pretended to hear nothing and smiled innocently.

My father followed up some questions as if testing if I am genuinely not bothered by this failure, to which I answered patiently, making a sigh of relief.

We arrived at the house finding my mother and sister waiting for us.

My father delivered the news which caused my mother to burst into tears, I smiled wryly at the sight.

"I am sorry son, it was because of me, because of my talentless bloodline, you inherited such a cursed fate, I am really sorry!"

"It is okay mother, I could still shift my focus to other things, the world is vast and I am sure that in this myriads, I could find a place I fit properly in"

The night has been a busy one for my father as he diligently consoled my mother with all her might.

After we ate and washed myself, I entered the room of us siblings.

In the room were two beds with mattresses made from a soft material, suited for the item.

I and my sister shared a room and after I entered, my sister asked me some questions.

"Brother, are you okay that you do not have a Martial Soul? You always talk about it with us,"

Sighing again at my misfortune, I simply answered.

"I am disappointed but not to the point of depression, let us pray to the gods that you will not be like me, I hope"

I smiled miserably at my sister.

I may have realized that this dream has now been shattered, the feelings lingering from this sadness will not disappear quickly, and this will take a long time, I think.

I turned off the lights of our room and proceeded to sleep through the night, albeit torturingly.

-----------------------------------

As the night goes by, from the rhythmic breathing of the people of the Wu Family, one could conclude that they are sound asleep as no one in the house, realize a mysterious entity entering their household.

"At last, a mental-attribute Martial Soul! Wait, is this a Tool-type or a Beast-type? Whatever, this is an opportunity!"

The rowdy voice did not awaken anyone strangely, as this apparition sank in the middle of Zhangkong's eyebrows.

Nothing happened after that besides Zhangkong, having a strange dream.

There was a talking worm in his mindscape!

--------------------------------------------

<Zhangkong's POV>

I don't really know how to explain this one.

I can't feel my physical body and no matter how I tried, I can't move it.

What was bizarre was that my eyes were completely closed but I could see something in front of me.

It was…a talking…worm?

"Hey, I may be a worm but I am the strongest of the kind!" the worm replied.

Yes…from what I could see, no worm will have exquisite gold and silver inscriptions on their body and mystical radiance coming out from them.

Was this worm some kind of strong soul beast?

From what I know, some of it was even rumors that even a Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Beast cannot convey its thoughts by conversing with another one, maybe the Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts were the only ones that have the ability to talk.

Anyway, I really wanted to get out of this creepy dream, what surprised me is that I can…talk!

"How are you talking with me right now, no, no, no…this is just a dream!"

"Well…you are half-right, this is your dream but I intruded in it, I wanted to have a deal with you" the worm lazily replied.

As of now, I am aware that this is not some kind of ordinary dream, I mean…I could talk just fine as if I am awake, what's the deal with this worm, what is it?

"Want me to answer the myriads of questions in your head?" the worm glanced at me sideways, but this mere gaze felt like I fell into an abyssal hell, it was an apocalyptic chill.

"Oh, I am sorry, I forget to restrain my own power, it's just that I am always tracked down by those fiendish monsters, they wanted to refine me for their strength, such crazy ones!" the worm's eyes changed into more tame ones, enabling us to see each other eye to eye.

I occasionally reacted from the following period that passed, sometimes being genuinely shocked but usually kept a perfunctory expression on my countenance.

The worm ranted for a few more minutes until stopping after noticing the bored expression on my face.

"Umm…wasn't that quite awesome, I mean…I just told you that I am a Million-Year Soul Beast yet aside from being shocked for a while, you are not even a bit fazed about this information, isn't meeting a limit-breaking entity such as me a worthwhile memory?" the worm, which called itself, Skydream, was quite discombobulated.

From his memories, all beings have greed in their minds that often eclipses their reasoning, pushing them to do unthinkable things, leaving often a bad note to their very own hearts.
