Chapter 2: Chapter One: My Own Cave of Wonder
When I was nineteen, I met a girl who rocked my world. I was walking along the beach one sweet summer night when I found a cave with a sign on it that read "Keep Out" so naturally, I went in to explore.
Inside was beautiful. The cave was full of shells, sea glass and gems of all kind. I thought I could make a nice buck off this stuff so I started grabbing anything I could and cramming it into my pocket.....What? I was nineteen, I still had college debts to pay off. Just kidding; I was done with college. Then an idea struck me: I could probably find more valuable things deeper in the cave. I didn't know it then but I'd find the most valuable thing of all: My future.
As I walked further into the cavern a bright light was emanating from beyond. Thinking it was something that could make me rich, I followed it. When I finally got to the deepest part of the cave, I was disappointed and a little creeped out. There was this lady laying by the water that was wearing just a bikini with blood coming from her head. And the light? Just the moon reflecting off the water's surface from the hole in the roof.
After flipping out for a hot minute, I checked her pulse:Alive. Good. Now to check her head injury. Not deep but just enough to make her pass out. Okay, now what? Oh yeah! Take her home and help her. As I picked her up and saw her face I knew I fell in love. She was gorgeous. And I do mean gorgeous. She was the prettiest woman I'd ever seen and I'm getting off topic. I walked with her in my arms all the way back to my home. The place I was renting, that is. I placed her on my bed, bandaged her injury, made sure she was comfy, and head to the couch to get some shut eye.
[Time skip to the morning]
(Camille POV)
Hi, I'm Camille,Peter's wife. Anyway back to the story.
When I woke up my first thought was where am I and why does my head hurt? Oh wait, that's two thoughts. My next thought was what was that delicious smell? I followed my nose which lead me to this handsome stranger cooking something that smelled yummy. And if this guy looked as good in the front as he did in the back then,sold! "Hello" I said "Who are you and where am I?" The handsome stranger turned around and holy-Poseidon! He was so hot.
He looked at me dumbfounded for a minute then spoke "I'm Peter and I found you washed up in a cave. Your head was bleeding so I brought back to my place to make sure you were alright. Now how do you like your eggs?" Okay so he doesn't know what I am. Good. "I like them scrambled and thank you for your hospitality" I said. He mumbled a "you're welcome" and turned back to the stove.
It was then did I remember what happened. I had had a fight with my brother for sneaking out again but he's just too overprotective. "It's dangerous to be out alone, especially at night! Who knows what those mortals will do to you if you get caught?!" He yelled "I won't get caught! Why don't you just trust me!" I yelled back then I stormed off to go swimming in the ocean.
I was pulled out of my thoughts by the stranger-Peter handing me a plate and telling me to sit at the table.
"So are you going to tell me your name?"
"Oh! Yes. I'm Camille."
"Nice to meet you Camille." We shook hands.
"So where are you from?"
"Florida"
"Wow! You're a long way from home. This is California."
I just stared at him. It can't be; I only swam for a few hours. I must've hit my head and the sea must've dragged me here. Then it hit me, "What's today's date?" "August 11th,2022. Why?" Oh my gods I've been lost at sea for two months! My family is going to kill me. "I must've hit my head pretty hard because I haven't been home since two months ago and this is the first time I remember waking up!" He looked at me quizzically then calmly stated "You probably just have short- term memory loss. It's okay we can figure it out." I needed to contact my siblings right away otherwise they'll come looking for me and my brother hasn't been out of the house in many, many, many decades.
