Chapter 10: Chapter 10
When the doctor said that he has only been out for one day, Shawn couldn't believe it, he knows for a fact that he was conscious the whole time, even though he could not see, hear or smell, he could think and he thought a lot during his time inside his mental confinement.
Shawn didn't say anything and just stared at the ceiling.
"You seem to be doing very well, you can rest here for a day as we will keep observing your condition, if nothing serious comes up you can leave tomorrow". The Doctor said and went away.
Soon Debra, Shawn's mother rushed in as she heard that Shawn regained his consciousness, Shawn was surprised to see her current state, he had never seen his mother cry for him, not even once in his life, this is new to him. His mother being worried about his current state made him a little emotional as well.
"Shawn, how are you feeling?" She asked while wiping her tears.
"I am doing fine mom" Shawn replied.
"Does it hurt?" She asked.
Shawn paused for a second and checked his hands and legs, he didn't seem to feel any pain at all.
"No I don't I should be able to go back tomorrow, you don't need to worry". Shawn said and grabbed her hand to comfort her, this is the first time they have ever shown affection to each other, they talked for a few minutes before going silent once again.
It was a little awkward as Debra and Shawn didn't talk much so now they are in a situation where they don't have anything to talk about at all, Shawn is no interested in Debra's love life and she doesn't know what Shawn does as well.
As they stayed there silently, Marcus and Ann came to the rescue, Marcus and Ann seem to be happy and relieved that Shawn is doing fine and he didn't suffer from any serious injury.
Debra decided to leave and give the young some space so they can talk to each other, once Debra walked out of the room Marcus sat on the chair and smiled.
"Shit, you look fucked" Marcus said as he looked at the bruises all over Shawn's body, though he didn't suffer any real injury he was still hurt.
"Ya, I think I got very lucky". Shawn replied.
"I was so worried when I heard about the accident, glad that you are ok". Ann said, she still looks worried.
"Thanks for the concern but I seem to be doing fine, I might get discharged tomorrow". Shawn assured her.
"Thank god". Ann sighed.
"How are Professor Newmon and Natasha?" Shawn asked, he is not the only one who got caught in that explosion.
"Oh, Professor Newmon suffered a dislocated shoulder while Natasha has a fractured rib". Marcus replied.
"What? They suffered serious injuries than me?" He asked in surprise.
"Ya, everyone was surprised, Professor and Natasha told that you took the impact head-on, the only thing you suffered was a cut on your head and bruises all over your body while they suffered from a rib fractured and a dislocated shoulder". Marcus said with sighing.
"How are they doing right now?" Shawn asked.
"Professor Newmon is doing fine and moving around while Natasha went through surgery and will be fine, she is resting right now" Ann answered.
"I really want to make a joke on you right now but I can't think of any" Marcus said and chuckled, Shawn and Ann also chuckled with him.
"Well I didn't break a bone or I would have been fucked, I can't miss the finals now can I?" Shawn said and smiled.
"Ya, you really go lucky". Marcus said
"So what happened at the party?" Shawn asked.
"Oh, the party was going great until a massive fight broke out, Jackson got really angry for no reason and started to fight with some random kid and they got into a very ugly fight, Jackson smashed that guy's face multiple times on the table.
The guy got taken to the hospital while Jackson was taken away by police but he will get out of there, his parents won't let him sleep in a jail". Marcus said.
"I think I know why he got angry". Shawn said and chuckled.
""Why?"" Both Marcus and Ann got curious
"While in the lab, Natasha was shouting over her phone, they both got into a fight right before the explosion". Shawn said.
"That asshole cannot contain his anger for god sake". Ann said while showing displeasure on her face.
Shawn, Marcus, and Ann continued to talk, Professor Newmon also came to visit as well, soon another day passed and Shawn showed no sign of his state getting worse so the doctor gave him permission to get discharged.
Once he was out of his bed, Shawn went to see Natasha, when he entered her room she seems to be doing fine.
"Are you ok?" He asked as he saw Natasha was staring out of her window, as she heard Shawn she turned her head and looked at him in surprise.
"I am fine, you seem to be doing well as well". She said while checking out his bandages, she is surprised to see he was doing well, too well in her view, Shawn took most of the impact out of all of them but still is doing well while she is on the bed with a fractured rib, though it is a very small fractured and will heal in a few weeks it is still very annoying, the stinging pain when she moves is very bothersome
"Ya, I got really lucky I guess". Shawn replied.
"Ya, you did, so are you leaving?" She asked.
"Ya, But I will come and give you a visit, how long will you be staying here?" He asked.
"I don't know, maybe a week or two, fuck" She cursed as she realized for how long she will miss some classes.
"Don't worry about the university, if anything important comes up I will pass it to you". Shawn said. This is the least he can do. Since he is the one who brought her to the lab, he feels a little guilty, even though he knows she came on her own accord but still there is that lingering thought of this not happening if he hadn't brought her to the lab.
He bid his farewell and left along with his mom, once they were back home Shawn went straight to his room and went to bed.
'Fuck, what happened to me?' He wondered and drifted off into a deep sleep.
