Chapter 28: A new mission on Hoth I

We arrive back at base, and I carry miss Dorne in my arms. I immediately rushed her to the medical bay, and some doctors and medics took her. Satele walks in behind me in her usual stoic pose. "Come with me, Nate. We have things to discuss." I already know what's coming. What I did to those sith isn't akin to being a Jedi. I offered mercy but didn't show it. I shouldn't have crushed them against the ceiling like that in hindsight. They were already near death.

I follow Satele out of the med bay, and she escorts me to a private room. I walk in behind her, and she quickly closes the door. She blocks the exits and stares at me. "You shouldn't have killed them, Nate... How do you expect to receive mercy from an enemy if you can't give it? I have underestimated how strong you have grown in the little time I've trained you, and that's my fault..." She walks up to me and places a hand on my shoulder, and looks me eye to eye. "Your connection to the force... It's never been seen before... I need you to caution yourself." She is as sincere as possible.

Master is right, but those were sith. I know that it's the right thing to do in the back of my mind. "I don't know what you want me to say, Master. How are we supposed to win this war if we don't kill them? The cycle of death will continue unless the sith are destroyed." Satele looks at me in great worry. My head and heart have been filled with the principle that this war can only end if one side is dead. I hid my feelings well from my Master's on Tython. "I'm not like the rest of the Jedi. I remember my childhood. The pain the empire caused, I'm not going to let that go so easily." Satele shakes her head in disappointment.

I watch her walk over to a chair and sit down. She takes a deep breath and leans back. "Even if I punish you with not training you. You'll still find a way to grow, so I'm only going to say this once, Nate. If I see you kill another enemy who has already been defeated, there will be serious consequences. I want you to take this as a lesson learned." I nod my head, acknowledging her words. She is the most powerful Jedi in the Order. I'm sure there will be plenty of punishments for a padawan with my personality.

She waves me to leave the room, and I do. As soon as I do, the station's alarm goes off. I hear the door behind me slide open and Satele motions for me to follow her. We rush to the command room, meeting with many officers surrounding a table. "A sith fleet has just jumped into the system. It belongs to the dark council member Darth Marr. We suspect that he is on the flagship. I'm ordering a full defense force and mobilizing troops." Commander Jesir announces the orders to the people in the room. Everyone leaves to do their jobs, and the only ones left in the room are me, Satele, and Jesir.

Jesir takes a data chip out from his pocket and places it in the center console. A hologram of The Star Of Coruscant pops up. "This is Darth Marr's target. We don't know what he is after, but most imperial activity is coming from the lower-decks still buried under the ice." A super-dreadnaught is probably filled with many goodies that the imperials want. Enough that a dark-council member has come all the way to Hoth to get it. "We aren't sure where they are looking specifically. All we know is a lot of experimental departments reside in those areas." The hologram moves at the sound of his voice and highlights the points of interest.

I walk up to the console and look more intently at it as Satele and Jesir talk. Their voices drown out, and all feeling drains away from me. The force guides my feelings as I stare at the holograms highlighting the rooms. My eyes fall on a specific room, and a voiceless force tells me this is where the attention will be focused. "What's in this specific room?" I interrupt their conversation, and I see the annoyed look on Jesir's face. I outrank him as a padawan, so he has to answer me. He walks over to another console in the room, and Satele walks beside me. She looks at the same room I am in, but she doesn't feel what I felt. She looks at me to explain. "The force told me whatever the sith are looking for is in this room." She nods her head and closes her eyes to contemplate herself.

Jesir continues looking through data archives, but I can feel his frustration growing. After a couple more seconds, he boils over. "Rancor shit! I wasn't notified that there are classified files! I need to make a quick call!" He storms out of the room, and I'm left with only Satele. I look at the data console that jesir was at, and I walk up to it. I look at the file attached to the room that I suspected, and it is indeed classified. I place my hands on the console and clear all thoughts from my mind. All sound and sensation drain from me. I use the force to probe the computer console. I have a gift that allows me to control machines. As Nathan dives into the force, unknown to him, the entire base begins to shake at his plunge into the force. The most worried is Satele.

I run to my apprentice as he delves into the force, but before I can reach him, I halt in my tracks, and I'm thrown against the wall by the force. I can't move my body in the slightest. "Nate... Stop it..." I can't even speak because the pressure is so great. I watch all the things in the room, big or small, lift and begin to float. Nothing can resist, and soon, electronics and things nailed or welded down begin to rip apart. I hear shouts of confusion and worry from outside the room. The entire area is going through the same chaos. I take the best deep breath I can. "Nate!" As soon as I shout out his name, his eyes flash open, and everything is sent flying.

I land on the ground and catch my breath. The room is torn to shreds, and I rush out of the room. I look and see most of the base is damaged. Lots of republic troops and droids are hurt. Many are unconscious. Jesir stumbles out of a hallway across the large room and limps over to me. "What the hell was that!? Some sith weapon!?" I'm torn right now. If people learned that Nathan caused all this, many would demand action. So I'm going to have to do something I've never done before. Lie for my apprentice.

Jesir continues to look at me for an answer, and I take a breath. "I don't know what it was, Jesir. Do you have any information regarding that room?" I ask him, and he shakes his head no. Must have been denied clearance on the information. We walk back into the torn-up room, and I see Nathan standing and looking down in shame. His connection... When he dives too deep, this is what will happen. Whatever he did, was beyond the normal for Jedi and Sith. I walk up to him and place my hand on his shoulder. He looks at me, and I nod my head in reassurance.
