Chapter 2: Weird Mission

Aleandra's POV

"Aleandra, we have confirmation that the Immortality Seekers are planning to conduct a life extension summoning at an abandoned warehouse not far from where you are. We will send you the additional information in a text after this call."

"Roger that."

"Oh and Aleandra."

"Yes, captain?"

"Please stay safe. It seems that the Immortal Seekers managed to steal quite the number of bodies to turn them into their puppet slaves so it might prove difficult to handle such a large amount of them. It's not that I doubt your skills, I just don't want you to feel overconfident and later get injured or worse because of that."

"I promise not to do that."

"One more thing Aleandra. Make sure to let those poor possessed souls pass on into the eternal.

"Was already thinking of that!"

"That's good to hear then. Good luck out there."

"Thanks, captain."

*Beep*

I hang up on the call and check the message.

So this is where those scumbags are. Thanks for the advice earlier captain but I think I'm going to let loose here.

When I get my paycheck soon, just you wait world! I'll finally be able to get to the mission locations much faster on my new motorcycle than using the god damn bus instead.

Finally reached my bus stop. I get off the bus and walked to the warehouse.

I searched the perimeter and confirmed there weren't any civilians or puppet slaves nearby. They must have thought they could easily get away with this one.

I reach for my guitar case and open it to grab my shashka. I hang my shashka in my lucky scabbard around the waist.

Damn this door is locked.

"Ignite and burn through it all!"

I invoke a heat spell on my shashka to slice the doorknob open.

Okay, I'm in. Hoped no one noticed that.

I crept through while staying hidden behind the crates. Alright, it seems I made it just in time.

I see a dozen or so puppet slaves are protecting their controller. I need to stop him quickly before he can finish his life extension summoning.

This seems weird. This doesn't look like your usual summoning circle. A normal one shouldn't be this big and this complex. Was the information provided by the captain wrong. Dang it, I can't just ask him while I'm in a middle of a mission, can I?

Wait, what is he doing.

Why is he adding more bodies into the summoning circle?

I've got to stop him before it's too late.

"Ignite and burn through it all!"

I run into one of the puppet slaves and it immediately turns into ash with one stab of my shashka.

"Who's there! Ah, a life guardian. Puppet slaves distract her before I can finish my experiment.

As I mow down each one, I notice the bodies in the circle turn into black goo and start to fill in the circle. In the circle, the black gooey substance rises and stops just slightly above my height.

"Hahahahaha! You fool, you are too late."

What does he mean?

"With this power from the eternal. I will truly become an immortal!"

Shoot! This doesn't sound good. I have to stop him quick before anything worse happens.

There, one slave puppet is running towards me. This one seems to be about my age. Poor kid. Being caught up in all of this and unable to pass on.

There an idea pops up in my head.

Sorry to be borrowing your body. I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me for doing this.

I grabbed the puppet slave and tossed it towards the controller. The controller dodges it and the body sinks into the goo.

"Hah! Is that all you ugh..."

I used the puppet slave as a decoy and caught the controller's guard off. I approached behind, running with all my might and pierced through him.

"Ignite and burn through it all!"

"Curse you....."

After killing the controller, the dark goo slowly dissolved along with the summoning circle. What remained what the kids body.

"Oh, look who we have here! This must be your lucky day. Sorry for using your body earlier. You did help me out a lot for someone already dead. Still, what was up with that immortal seeker. He sure was a weird one."

A hard days work calls for good night sleep. Oh yeah, I still have to clean up the scene. Hugghhhh, how I hate this part of the job.

I'll start with the other bodies first and pile them somewhere. Here we go, with all my recent training, it seems much easier to carry these guys.

Just one more body. I left him last as a way of letting me show his appreciation for using his body.

Hold on a moment, did that guy just move. No way, that's impossible. He should be properly dead this time. I must be imagining this. That weird summoning circle must have done something to my eyes.

As I go and grab his arm.

"Ow!"

I don't believe this even for a second.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
RSmooth RSmooth

A shashka is a type of Russian sword. I thought it would be cool for Aleandra to use it since she's meant to be Russian.
