Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Roland stood in front of the door to his father's study and knocked on the door. There was a curt reply of "Come in", so he went in. The first thing he saw was a huge man of about 1.95m sitting behind a very big oak desk in the middle of the room, surrounded by filled bookcases. He wore a loose robe and had a sword standing next to his desk, basically announcing he was a knight. He had shining blue eyes, a chiseled chin, a hooked nose and a fair complexion. All in all, he was a very handsome man.

'AI chip, scan my father.'

[Affermative.]

[baron Anton Rowe: Level 1 Knight: Strength 5.87, Agility 6.03, Constitution 6.21, Spirit ?]

[For comparison: a normal, adult human has 0.70 average Strength, Agility and Constitution.

Average Spirit unknown.]

'So he's pretty strong in this backwater country.'

"How are you feeling Roland? You were hit pretty hard by viscount Carmen's son." Said his father.

Viscount Albert Carmen, a Level 3 Knight, and his son Clyde, a Level 2 Apprentice Knight, were known for being overbearing in the surrounding baronies and viscounties. His vicounty was bigger than others because he attacked and took over the barony belonging to the Hersch family. Now, the Hersch family was no more and their estate now belonged to the Carmen family. At the moment Albert was eyeing the Rowe estate. He had his son, Clyde, duel with Roland on the pretense of competing for a girl, to give Anton a warning. But how could a bit-below-average Roland win, or even compete against Level 2 Apprentice Knight Clyde?

"I'm alright father. I'll take my training serious from now on and beat him later with my own hands."

"That's good Roland, I'm happy to see you're going to take your training serious from now on. I'll increase your allowance to 5 gold coins a month, so don't dissapoint me."

"I won't father, this defeat served as a real wake-up call. I'm going to my training room now."

"Take this with you, you'll need it."

He then threw a pouch and a book at him, which he could just barely catch. Roland first looked in the pouch and saw 10 gold coins, then he checked the cover of the book which read Basic Swordsmanship. After doing this, he thanked his father and left for his private training room.

---Inside Roland's private training room---

'Chip, how long can I train for?'

[Host can use Improved Rowe Knight Manual for 2 hours a day. Time practiced today: 45 minutes.]

'Chip, scan Basic Swordsmanship and improve it.'

[Task added, time needed: 15 minutes.]

'That's not long, I'll train while waiting.'

1 hour and 15 minutes later, he'd trained the Improved Rowe Knight Manual to the max for today. Just when he finished his last training routine he heard the AI chip.

[Host improved by Strength +0.07, Agility +0.04, Constitution +0.11, Spirit ?]

[Basic Swordsmanship improved, transmit to memory?]

'Yes, transmit. And Chip, why do I improve so quickly?'

[Improved Rowe Knight Manual is the most efficient Knight Manual currently possible. It strengthens the body multiple times quicker than other comparable Knight Manuals.]

'Awesome! Now Chip, what do I need to build the simplest energy installation and builderbot?'

[Basic Great Solar Array: output 10Ag. Basic Builderbot (needs 0.5Ag to function): can build basic structures and transform basic materials. Battle strength: Level 1 Knight.]

[Required: 200kg of sand, 150kg of iron ore and 50kg of copper ore. Only possible after reaching Level 1 Apprentice Knight, AI chip can use internal Knight strength to transform materials into missing materials.]

He decided to train till Level 2 Apprentice Knight, take revenge on Clyde for the original Roland, then build a Basic Great Solar Array and Basic Builderbot to start his own Steel Empire. He would also like to become a Warlock, but that would be for later. At the moment that wasn't possible.

And so he started training. The only things he did during his 2 weeks of training was: waking up, eating breakfeast, reading books from his father's study, eating lunch, Knight training, practicing swordsmanship, take a bath, eath dinner, reading more books, go to sleep and then repeat it all again. The reading contributed to his database of this world, all the books he read were uploaded to the AI chip's database. He could also defeat the family army commander in swordsmanship now. But the best thing was...

[Host has become a Level 2 Apprentice Knight]

[Strength 1.73, Agility 1.59, Constitution 1.87, Spirit ?]

Roland, having met his current goals, was now sitting at his desk in his room, writing a letter to challenge Clyde to a duel. He had a second chance at life, so he thougth is was only right to avenge the previous Roland. Ony because he could though, if it wasn't possible or too hard he wouldn't do it. But the Carmen and Rowe families were already enemies, so it wouldn't really make a difference to him and could even be benificial to his father. He finished writing the letter, put it on a carrier pigeon and threw it out of the window. If everything went right, he would get an answer within a few days.

While waiting for a reply, he decided to start building his Basic Great Solar Array. So Roland went outside of the castle for the first time since he transmigrated. He thought that his father, the Lord of the town, was a talented administrator because instead of the dirty, backward medieval town he was expecting, he saw a clean and orderly town. The streets were clean and built in a standard raster, almost all houses and shops had a stone foundation woorden walls, the people were lively and properly clothed. It really exceeded his expectations. After observing the town for a few minutes, he started walking towards a real estate vendor. He'd decided he'd need a small house with courtyard close to the beach to start his plans. When he went inside the manager came to welcome him and asked him what he wanted. After explaining what he needed and talking to the manager for awhile, he bought a large beach mansion with courtyard for 2 gold coins. 2 gold coins was enough for a family of 4 commoners to live for 5 years. Before he left the real estate vendor, he asked where he could buy some slaves, Roland needed servants for the mansion and to start his plans.

After walking to the small slave market of Rowe Town, he went into the biggest shop. When Roland went inside he was enthusiastically greeted by the gorgeous proprietress.

"Welcome, Young Lord. How may I be of service to you, on this beautiful day?" she said while showing an enchanting smile.

"I'm looking for a few slaves to work in my new mansion."

"I see, please follow me."

She showed him to the back where he saw people in cages, waiting to be bought. Roland needed strong slaves to haul ores and other heavy stuff.

'Chip, scan them all and show me the 5 strongest ones.'

[Name: ?. Gender: Male. Strength 0.78, Agility 0.69 Constitution 0.81, Spirit ?]

[Name: ?. Gender: Male. Strength 0.77, Agility 0.65 Constitution 0.71, Spirit ?]

[Name: ?. Gender: Male. Strength 0.64, Agility 0.57 Constitution 0.75, Spirit ?]

[Name: ?. Gender: Female. Strength 0.55, Agility 0.83 Constitution 0.69, Spirit ?]

[Name: ?. Gender: Female. Strength 0.53, Agility 0.89 Constitution 0.70, Spirit ?]

"I want them." He was pointing at the 5 slaves his AI chip had selected.

"You have a good eye, they just arrived yesterday. I'll sell them to you for 1 gold coin and 60 silver coins."

He thought it was a pretty good deal, so he didn't bargain and just said "Deal."

He handed over the money, got the slave certificates and took them with him to the main street.

The main street is where most of the shops were and the richest lived. He first went to the tailor and bought maid outfits for his female slaves and workers clothes for the males, costing him 75 copper coins. They then went to a grocery store and bought supplies fot the mansion, enough food and supplies for 2 months, costing another silver coin and 10 copper coins for delivery. The last stop was the blacksmith. Roland went inside with his slaves, bought all the needed ores and tools for 2 gold coins and 60 silver coins. Then he and his male slaves took the ores and tools with them, finally going to his new mansion.

After walking for 10 minutes, they arrived at the mansion. He ordered his maid cum slaves to start cleaning it up and preparing for the supplies that were going to arrive, next he ordered his workers to put the tools and ores in the courtyard and after that to go move sand from the beach to the courtyard.

When the sun was setting, all assigned tasks were done. There was a large pile of sand and ores is the courtyard, the storage room was filled and the mansion was free of dust. Roland said his slaves could go to bed while he went to the courtyard to start building what would later be the beginning of his own Kingdom.
