Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Is He Dead?

Isuze's heart pounded as he watched the truck, completely out of control, hurtle towards him with terrifying speed. In that heart-stopping moment, the world seemed to slow down, and he felt like he was frozen in place, mere centimeters away from the impending disaster. He could hear the screech of tires and the blaring horn, a symphony of impending chaos.

In an instant that defied explanation, he found himself on the opposite side of the road, and a deafening crash echoed behind him as the truck collided with the ancient stone wall which has been protecting the graveyard for decades.

Isuze's heart raced, and his mind buzzed with disbelief. The realization hit him like a lightning bolt. It wasn't a teleportation or a mere stroke of luck; it was his own feet that had carried him to safety, moving at a speed he couldn't have imagined in his wildest dreams.

As Isuze stood there, trying to catch his breath and comprehend the incredible escape he had just experienced, a small crowd quickly gathered around him. Concerned voices asked, "Are you fine? Are you hurt somewhere?"

In the background, a murmur of disbelief filled the air as onlookers exchanged shocked whispers. "How did he survive that? He was, like, only few inches away from the truck..."

Isuze, though still in a state of shock from the harrowing near miss, managed to find his voice. He stammered for a moment before reassuring them, "Yeah, I am fine!" He took a deep breath, then, with genuine concern, asked, "What about the truck driver?"

A guy from the crowd relayed the distressing news "He's seriously injured, but don't worry, we've called for an ambulance. It's on its way." Isuze's heart felt heavy, the relief of his own safety overshadowed by the anxiety for the injured truck driver as they all anxiously awaited the arrival of the ambulance.

As the anxious crowd waited on the dimly lit street, the distant wail of the ambulance siren grew louder and more urgent, cutting through the night like a cry for help. Its presence was a beacon of hope in this moment of uncertainty.

In a crescendo of sound and flashing lights, the ambulance pulled up, its tires screeching briefly against the asphalt. It came to a halt, and the crowd parted, making way for the two paramedics who leaped out of the vehicle. Dressed in their stark white medical attire, they moved with the precision of a well-coordinated rescue team.

With deftness and care, they swiftly assembled a stretcher near the battered truck, while the truck driver was carefully extracted from the mangled wreckage. The paramedics' faces were etched with determination and professionalism as they worked to stabilize the injured driver.

In a seamless display of expertise, they gently lifted him onto the stretcher, securing him in place. The crowd watched in silence, their collective breath held in hope as the paramedics, with a reassuring nod, hurriedly wheeled the injured man towards the waiting ambulance. The piercing red and white lights of the vehicle illuminated the night, signaling the beginning of a race against time to save a life.

After spending an anxious half-hour at the scene, Isuze finally made his way towards the university, his steps felt heavy with the weight of the recent events. The memory of the near-collision with the out-of-control truck and the subsequent accident haunted him, refusing to let go.

His mind raced with thoughts of the injured driver, and the haunting sound of the ambulance siren still echoed in his ears. The world around him seemed to blur as he continued on his path, his heart torn between the urgency of his academic responsibilities and the lingering concern for the stranger whose life had intersected with his in such a dramatic and unexpected way.

With every step he took, Isuze couldn't help but wonder about the twists of fate that had led him to this point.

Arriving at the university just in time for his class, Isuze glanced at his watch and sighed in relief. He entered the classroom, and for the first time, he truly noticed the faces of his fellow students.

As he took his seat and gazed out of the window at the serene sky, Isuze had a moment of reflection. He realized that, after his grandmother's passing, he hadn't missed his classes or studies as much as he had missed the connections and friendships he had neglected. The simple joys of human interaction had become more apparent to him.

Then, a memory flashed in his mind, and he couldn't ignore it any longer. "Hey, Mida...!" Isuze called out, his voice carrying a tone of warmth and surprise.

Mida, along with other students, was taken aback by Isuze's uncharacteristic behavior. They exchanged puzzled glances, wondering what had come over him. Mida approached Isuze with a mix of shock and curiosity, his eyebrows raised inquisitively. "Hey, Isuze, what's up?" he asked, a hint of laughter in his voice. "This is the first time you've called me like that. Are you feeling okay?"

Isuze, still grappling with the enormity of his own actions, offered a faint smile. "I'm fine, Mida. Just lost in thought."

The teacher entered the classroom, as all the students stood up to show their respect, and the class began. However, Isuze found it difficult to focus. His mind was consumed by thoughts of the incident.

Isuze's mind wandered, his thoughts began to swirl like autumn leaves in a gentle breeze. He questioned himself with an intensity that matched the blazing curiosity in his eyes: "How did I survive that incident? Do I possess some kind of hidden superpowers?"

The memory of the inexplicable events seemed to cling to his every thought, like a puzzle waiting to be solved. In this moment, the classroom itself felt like a portal into a realm of mysteries and revelations, where the boundaries between reality and the extraordinary began to blur, leaving Isuze standing at the precipice of a thrilling journey into the unknown.

"Isuze! ISUZE?"
