Chapter 417: Chapter 417: Fierce Battle in the Palace (Part 1)

The snow-covered Broken Ridge was guarded by towering mountains. Above the azure sky, the roars of dragons and the cries of eagles intertwined, while pillars of lightning and dragon breath divided the heavens.

Giant birds of prey, rarely seen on ordinary days, and legendary dragons fell from the sky like dumplings dropped into boiling water.

The people of Alterac trembled in their homes, praying for the calamity to pass them by. However, it was hard to avoid. From the moment the battlefield was set on the Alterac Mountains, much destruction was inevitable.

Perhaps Duke could have prevented all this early on, but unfortunately, he chose to let it be.

King Aiden of Alterac's double-dealing snake-like nature was at play here. Even if Duke could save him once, he couldn't save him a second or third time. Rather than letting Alterac become a ticking time bomb, it was better to clean it up all at once in the course of history that Duke was familiar with.

A falling red dragon on the ground was like a bulldozer. Before the momentum of its high-speed descent was exhausted, small houses were crushed under its body, and a large black scar was forcibly plowed out of the white land. Even when it rushed to the cliff-side city wall at the edge of Broken Ridge, its momentum was not exhausted.

The thick city wall finally acted as a gatekeeper. The dragon did not shatter the wall, but instead rolled over in the intense impact, rolling down the cliff. Red scales and broken limbs scattered like shotgun pellets, sweeping the soldiers on the wall.

Below, the people of Alterac were screaming in fear, feeling as if the world was turning upside down.

Except for a few who were agile and had good balance, most people fell to the ground unsteadily. In the city of Alterac, many elite orcs took the opportunity to turn the battle into close combat, easily tearing apart the royal guards who fell within the range of their fists and feet.

Amid the screams of chaos, the guards watched in despair as a wave of green shadows pressed towards them.

They instinctively raised their shields to resist this overwhelming force, like a rhino's charge. Each of them failed, their arms and shoulders were crushed under this force that exceeded their limits. They were grabbed by the elite orc warriors, screaming as their helmets, skulls, and necks were torn from their bodies.

Blood was everywhere!

When the complete battle formation disintegrated, for the guards, the shadow of death was almost right in front of them.

Orgrim's guards, although only a tenth of the number of the royal guards, were like they were on drugs, rushing into the crowd and killing indiscriminately.

In low-level combat, Orgrim's men had the upper hand.

At the top level of power, however, the Alliance, who had the advantage of surprise, was superior.

Unlike Lothar, who was in his forties, burdened with military affairs, and whose strength had begun to decline, the title of the Alliance's most powerful warrior had fallen on Uther. The strongest paladin in his prime, he showed Orgrim how he had earned his reputation on the western front in Silverpine Forest.

That was a magnificent hammer strike, supported by the incredibly powerful Light. The sky full of golden Light seemed like the descent of a deity, gathering the Light that was like golden flames into one point, and smashing it towards Orgrim's face.

In this era, in the whole world of Azeroth and the Church of the Light, the number of people who could condense the Light into a tangible hammer would not exceed thirty. Each of them, to every ordinary soldier present, was a living legend.

Each of them, when placed in an army, was a terrifying force capable of taking on a thousand.

And Uther was among the pinnacle of these unparalleled warriors.

When Uther's hammer came down, even Duke, who was said to have absolute defensive power with his Ice Barrier, dared not take it.

After all, so-called absolute defense is only relative.

The Ice Barrier uses ultra-high-density ice elements to forcibly expel all forces outside of the ice. But what about the more advanced, more condensed power of the Light?

Perhaps even Duke, who is now on the verge of becoming a god of magic, does not have this confidence.

But such a hammer was countered by Orgrim with an attack.

Muscles bulging, the inhuman strength was revealed at this moment, Orgrim actually countered hammer with hammer!

When countless lines of golden Light that cut through the dim shadows in the hall collided with the terrifying molten fire that rose up, the elemental clash caused a huge explosive effect that dazzled people's eyes.

Everyone only saw the golden and red-black flames scattering like fireworks, as if two giant Persian chrysanthemums were heart to heart, fiercely colliding and grinding against each other.

Countless petals scattered and withered, and then there was a deafening collision sound. After a full three seconds, the flames released by the two men dissipated into nothingness.

No one expected that Uther, who looked so human, could also launch such a beast-like counterattack.

Orgrim frowned, the situation was not good for the Horde. Except for him, it seemed that only Rexxar could barely suppress the paladin named Gavinrad. The others were either in a stalemate or directly at a disadvantage.

Kargath Bladefist seemed incredibly fierce, trading injuries with Saidan Dathrohan, but the problem was that the latter was a paladin with healing abilities! If they kept fighting, if Kargath didn't run, he would definitely die.

Blackscar Chieftain Kashundrak was even worse, directly suppressed by Tirion Fordring, unable to trade much damage at all.

Kilrogg Deadeye was evenly matched with two elven rangers, Kilrogg suppressed one ranger in close combat, but was annoyed by the shots of the ranger on the outside. If his blinded eye could not provide brief foresight, Kilrogg might have already fallen by now.

Samuro wanted to chase Duke, but was held back by an elven ranger.

The problem was, the Alliance had more high-end forces!

Bolvar was killing left and right.

The physical limit of humans determined that they could not surpass orcs in pure strength. But the power of the Light made up for the lack of destructive power, and humans could be faster.

No one expected Bolvar's attack speed to be so fast.

The chief of Orgrim's guards only had time to see the golden light in his field of vision getting bigger and bigger.

Then, with a "bang", his entire head turned into a cannonball, directly punched out of his burly body by Bolvar, piercing through one of the eight-meter-high giant glass windows in the palace hall, and finally falling into the palace lawn.

Seeing the orc's head flying out, a bloody eyeball bounced out and hung on the top of King Aiden's beloved glass window, Bolvar couldn't help but bare his teeth.

The devout paladin murmured in his heart: Uh, I see nothing, I know nothing!
