Synopsis

Aran is 23 and unemployed. He plays games all day in his parents
basement where he lives in New York city. He doesn't go out and simply has them deliver food through the side door.

After days of playing a new offline zombie game he found, he suddenly discovers that he was out of food. He tries to order but the food never arrives.

He goes up into his house only to discover that he suddenly had new, vicious and uninvited guests waiting for him.

At that point Aran has no choice but to fight to ensure that he survived in the new world he found himself in.

In doing so, he discovers that the new zombie world he found himself in was just like the offline game he had played in the last few days.

The key to survival was choosing one of the transparent and hovering signs that randomly appeared. And unlike in the game where he had gone with what he thought was a stronger choice which was big, powerful and slow, Aran had every intention of picking a different one. The main reason he never won the game.

Unfortunately for him, to get it before anyone else who might have also played the game, he had to leave and move out of his house, overcome his fear of death, kill a few hundred zombies on his way and avoid other people trying to steal everything he had from him, while choosing not to pick any signs along the way.

Yet, even after all that, there was no guarantee that the fly sign wouldn't reject him.

(Excerpt)

"I-I can't do this…I can't," Aran screamed inside his head, cowering behind the window, his heart hammering in his chest as he prayed with his eyes closed that the zombie moving past the window of the second floor on the roof hadn't heard him.

There were already about three in the house and because he couldn't hold back his curiosity, now there was a high chance of them becoming four.

"Is this how I'm going to die?" Aran asked himself, staring at the mole sign staring at him in the face, a few steps away from where he was kneeling.

Picking the sign meant he could never again pick another and he would be stuck with it.

He could take it and survive for a while, but he would never truly be safe with such a weak sign that was mostly good for digging.

But not picking it also meant death since he would have no choice but to kill three zombies all by himself while making sure not to attract any attention from the ones roaming around the house.

"I need to pee,"

The thought suddenly flashed across his mind, as tears threatened to spill from his eyes when,

"GRAAaaaaaa!," came a sudden growl from right above his head, as he instantly became aware that his bladder was the least of his problems.
