Chapter 28: Breaking News

Oframasi, Police Station

............

The dusk is approaching as the sky turns dark. The wind blows so strongly threatening to uproot everything in its way.

Not even a single star could be found in the sky. The moon had disappeared completely as if it never existed in the first place.

The weather is cold which is in sharp contrast to what appeared to have been sunny all day.

Looking at the current weather, one wouldn't need to be told it would rain heavily tonight.

Currently, inside one of the offices in the police station, Sergent Quaye could be seen going through his phone.

After leaving disappointed later in the day, he decided to spend the night at the police station. He was currently going through the entertainment news to kill the boredom.

"This again! This is truly becoming a routine for these armed robbers! Sergeant Quaye shouted after a particular headline caught his attention.

It was a headliner displayed at the bottom of the entertainment news under the breaking news category. He proceeded to click on the link and immediately furrowed his brows.

" The bullion Van attack." "Star Oil is deeply saddened to announce an armed robber attack at our Ablekuma Fanmilk Station, a suburb of the capital, Accra on Thursday, April 6.

The police confirmed that one of its officers died in the attack. The deceased succumbed to several gunshots fired at him by one of the four assailants, who made away with two bags whose contents remain unknown.

The quartet launched an attack on two motorbikes in broad daylight scaring off patrons of the filling station and others close to the scene.

Currently, there are five things that we know so far: The time of the attack, what the attackers took away, the officer's identity by first name only, police launched a manhunt for the robbers, and Eyewitnesses speaking on the operation.

It ended with Star Oil expressing its loyalty to both its customers and the general public. "We wish to assure customers and the general public that as a responsible organization, we have adequate security systems at our stations to aid police investigations."

Below the news article was a press release from the Ablekuma Police Department.

It apologized to the public, expressed its sympathy to the family of the deceased police officer as well as admonished the public for the publishing of unverified accounts of the incident.

"Hmm," Sergeant Quaye sighed as he read the last piece of the news. He was truly frustrated but he knew he couldn't do much with his current position.

"We are just four months into the year and the first bullion van attack has occurred. The rate at which this incident is happening is terrifying." He thought.

It should be known that last year alone, there were three similar cases reported. However, it seems if it isn't curbed sooner, it could get out of hand.

"Knock, knock," as he was currently thinking about the solutions he could put in place if the case were to be under his course, he heard a knock on his door. "Yes, come in! He replied.

" Greetings to Sergeant, LC Barrack immediately saluted as he was invited in.

"Hmm," Sergeant Quaye nodded in response.

"Reporting to the sergeant, I have received a report confirming that the expert has come back home."
