Chapter 2: Chapter 1: Start - Jay’s POV

Narrator's POV:

Jay was sound asleep in his bed, dreaming about how things were going to be at school. Due to his past experiences, the events in his dreams were nothing but pain. He was currently in the bathroom, his paws made contact with the cold, filthy floor of feet and urine. His arms felt weak and were stained with his maroon colored blood that dropped from his nose. His eyes were blurry because someone had took his eye patch. He often took one to school because one of his eyes were a different color than the other and was self conscious about it. He heard the students laughing at him, but it always felt like it was targeted more at his eye rather than himself as a animal. He curled up in a hall, wishing that the students would just go away. The more they kept pushing him lower and lower, his heartbeat became more audible and faster. He looked up and saw a figure of someone. Due to his blurry vision, he couldn't quite make out what they were doing, but he felt a sudden force come to his face, knocking his head back onto the wall. It sent a wave of pain down his neck, giving him a migraine. He didn't know how much more of this he would have to deal with, but before he passed out in his dreams, he awoken in the real world to a repetitive noise. And who would love to hear that noise at 6 am, most likely no one does.

Jay's POV:

I wake up and rub my eyes, trying to pull myself together back into pieces. I look around my room that's almost filled with darkness, due to the moonlight coming from the window. I slam my paw on the alarm clock, making the irritating noise come to a halt. I can now hear people driving their cars outside, with them most likely driving to their jobs. I look at the time, and as expected, it's 6 am. I groan and lay back in bed, just wanting to get those five extra minutes. My bed continues to keep me warm and feeling safe, as I snuggled back into the covers. I felt the soft, warm blanket wrapped around my body, but then realize that five minutes will turn into ten minutes, then fifteen, then twenty and so on. That dream that I had, it felt real. It was like time traveling to the future, or at least that's what I thunk as I got up, almost shivering immediately when I placed my feet on the cold, carpet floor. I feel the need to stretch and I let out a grunt as I do so, making the voice echo throughout my room. My feet are cold as I start to shiver again, rushing to put on some socks. The world seems dark and gloomy today, things seems edgy and shallow. I walk over to my door, feeling more tired within every step and open it, hearing a creaking noise shortly after. Leaving my room, leads me into the hallway to either my parents room, bathroom, or the living room and kitchen. Speaking of my parents, they're currently both at work, meaning that I'm in the house alone. The bathroom is the farthest door on my left, while everything else is on the right. We also have a basement that's right across from the bathroom, but I never been down there yet. I slowly make my way to the bathroom, feeling my body continuously drain itself the more I walk. I can already start to smell the vanilla scented candles as I'm only halfway there. They slowly remind me of a vanilla flower garden that being beamed down on by the sun at a warm temperature. I walk into the bathroom and flip the light switch, immediately feeling my eyes burn from the sudden light. After about a full minute, my eyes fully adjust and I walk to the mirror, staring back at my reflection. My fur is a mess, my eyes have bags under them, I feel weak and sleepy. I turn on the water and splash some on my face, quickly waking myself up. I used to not look as half as bad as I did, looking at the reflection that stared back at me. He looked exhausted, terrible, and depressed. After about ten minutes of being in the bathroom, I left to go back to my room, but the basement door blocks my focus to my room. I've always wondered what lies in the basement. I can feel my body moving, but my soul stays in place and before I know it, my paw is griping the doorknob. The temptation to twist it and find out what was down there grew inside of me. It was like a spark that told me to do something, but I knew the consequences. I was never allowed to go into the basement, for whatever reason. It never really bothered me until a couple weeks ago when I heard creaking noises from down there. It has sent chills down my spine and it's crazy how I still remember. Nothing else has happened since then and my curiosity slowly grows day by day. I turn away from the door and lose my tension on the doorknob, releasing my grip. I go back into my room and decided to get myself together for school. I went towards my decent sized closet and looked at the choices I had to pick from. I look at my jackets, sweaters, pants, and everything else. I decide to go with something that's a little casual and simple. I grab my yellow jacket with some black pants. I already start to feel a bit of warmth as I put on the mentioned clothes. I begin to smell something that makes my mouth water. It brings a tingle feeling down my spine, as I know where it's coming from. I zoom down the hallway, ignoring the creaky floorboards since my stomach is growling at this point. I look towards the kitchen and see a plate on the counter with hot, steamy pancakes and crispy bacon on the side. The smell was stronger than before now, it felt like I could smell it forever. I walked over to the plate that was stacked with those creamy pancakes and already began to feel my mouth water. I licked my lips, grabbing the plate along with a fork, syrup, and a cup of sweet orange juice. After eating my breakfast, I realize that it's almost time for me to go. I grab my backpack, the house key and my earbuds as I swiftly leave the house. I'm welcomed by a warm breeze that goes through my body. The sun isn't out yet, but the temperature seems rather perfect today. A smile starts to form on my face as I walk down the street to my bus stop. Cars roar drive down the street. I take my earbuds and place them in my ears, listening to some music as I continue to walk. Each step I take feel more slow and heavy, and I start to feel alone. Even through the music playing in my ears, the cars can still be heard, but it doesn't bother me too much. I arrive at the bus stop with a couple minutes to spare. There are other students at the stop too, so that let's me know I'm not the only one. Everyone else seems to be talking in pairs or groups and I'm just sitting with my music. I've been used to be closed out and left alone for most of my life, so it's not a bother to me. The bus came shortly after and everyone got on the bus and in different seats. The back of the bus blasted with loud conversations, laughs, and that was ironic, considering how early it was in the morning. I ignore the outside noises and turn up my music louder, looking out the window at other houses.

I will have a good day today...or try to at least..
