Chapter 2: 2.The First Friend
After completing what she had to say, Lily began to cry again. It might have been hard for her remembering all these things and she began muttering words like
" Nobody wants to be my friend and everyone ignores me and Miss Smith said this and Tom said that. and blah blah" Man crying kids are really so annoying. But as this is the best moment to make her mine, *a subordinate and a potential lover* I mean, so I took the opportunity.
" You are no freak. You are a magician. There are hundreds of people out there who can do that so it's not an issue. I will be your friend and all those people who will be your friends." I didn't say that... why, because actual Snape said something like that and I didn't want to follow canon? No. I did so because if I said it, she would start asking about the magical world. She would start dreaming about a place where everyone is like her and she is no longer a freak. This would ultimately lead her to not noticing the vile of their society.
She would be so in awe about the 'MAGIC' part of the world that she will ignore the discrimination between the pure bloods and the mudbloods.
When you dream about something for a long time, and you don't get it, you'll be disappointed right? Now what if you get what you dreamed of?? You will be delighted... Yes and ? And you will latch on to it like your life depends on it. This is the reason why politicians get mad after getting power. Power corrupts yes, but there is another reason, they had dreamed of that seat of power, but now that they have that seat, they are scared to lose it. So, they go to the worst of the levels to save their throne. This is the strategy that the Hogwarts uses too. When people hear about magic, they dream about things flying, fire coming out of nowhere, castles, robes and pointy hats and making cats into hats and hats into rabbits and of course Unicorns. Now, when they enter the world they see the magic community, they see a magnificent castle, then they see a magical hat which can not just talk but also sing ( No one mentions mind reading). Then you have classes where you learn stuff you always wanted to learn. All this creates an image in minds of the muggleborns. An image of the perfect community, where they are not bullied because they are different and they have people like them. This makes them loyal to Hogwarts and maybe, the magic world. And it makes them want to protect their position in this community
Nobody ever thinks why they don't introduce the children to the magic world at a young age , when they are not yet bullied and don't think of themselves as below others. Magic core not being developed is definitely not the reason. Who asked you to teach them magic. Teach them about the world first. Tell them about the rules of society they have to go in. But they don't do that. Why? Because children of muggleborns can't be given independence. They need to be dependent on the so called ' Blood Traitors' of the magical community. Why because, those people will not feel the self satisfaction in their 'righteousness' in any other way.
Ultimately, all of them think of muggles and muggleborns as mere tools. One group uses them to feel proud of themselves, while the other group feels the need to take a direct approach ad make them their slaves. Killing Voldemort? It's useless. Even if both Dumbeldore and Voldemort are killed, nothing would change. Things can become chaotic. If not, then there will be peace for about 20-25 years at max and then there will be war again. As a transmigrator with future knowledge, I should stop it right? I should change the way this world works and make it a better place for the future generations.
NO WAY! I am not gonna do that. I would have definitely have tried to change this system if I was a muggle. But I am a wizard. I don't care what happens to them right now. Not when I am the one on the ruling side. As far as my children are concerned, I am definitely gonna marry a witch, so, they will be purebloods and about me? Who would mess with me when I become as strong as Dumbledore? They would give themselves reasons like he is actually a pure Blood or maybe his father was a squib or something like that. No one opposes power. So, all that's left after that is me ruling over the muggles and wizards. if muggles gained their 'Rights', it will become difficult to do so.
But strength alone is not sufficient. Both Voldemort and Dumbledore had something else. Something I am planning to get very soon. Yup, Followers. Lovers, relatives, friends, army. Whatever you call them. What I need is people. People who are ready to die for me at a moment's notice. No, matter the reason. And this was my chance to get my first follower. There was no way I am gonna mess it. So, this is what I told LILLY.
" If you are a freak, then I will be one too. I will become your friend even when the whole world is against you. " I walked closer to her and rubbed her tears with my hands. " So, become my friend and together we shall face the world together." I said in a calm yet determined tone. One that was filled with kindness but not pity. Now, would she be able to understand all these subtle tones of mine? Of course not. But at least she would get some of the feelings from the words and even if she wouldn't, it isn't hard to say these words with feelings.
Her tears had stopped and my right hand cupped her left cheek. She looked me in the eyes and asked "You won't leave me like Petunia right." Insecurity was so evident in her eyes that even my demeanor had almost broken. Almost. I decided that I would protect her and make her happy. Not at the cost of my life … hell I won't even care about her happiness or her life if it went against my plans, but I would take care of her till it's within logical limits. Well I still am a human after all. I am such a nice person. I don't know why those idiots called me a bully. Hmmph. I am definitely a saint... Damn I am so weak. This is totally useless. Well, I'll think of it as rewards before doing the job. Yup it's just a form of carrot.
After I was finished being happy with myself and making a stupid and useless decision, I looked straight into her eyes. "I will NEVER leave you. Not unless you decided to leave me first." I told her truthfully. "I won't" she shouted. " I will stay by your side forever and I'll become your best friend." She said with determination so strong that she herself didn't know. But, her voice made it clear to me that I had gotten myself my first follower. She was just a child after all. Faced with the broken world, her heart had shattered to pieces. It would have been healed by itself slowly. But, Now that I helped her in the process, my presence in her life has become a part of the binding force. So, I have become important for her.
(Snape here is the one in cannon) This job, in canon was done by her will to learn magic. She got herself so attached to the magical world that she didn't care about things other than learning magic. This was the reason that she became the teachers' favorite and couldn't notice what James did to Snape. By the time she did notice, Snape had started feeling inferior to James due to the bullying he faced in his house for being a half blood and by the marauders in the form of pranks for being close to Lilly. It was obvious that he was being bullied because James liked Lilly and Snape was getting close to her. As James was the Potter heir, he didn't face any problems from the teachers, while Snape became a laughing stock. So, he couldn't express his feelings to her. Not when he had to live in the Slytherin house. As, James was there for her when Snape was trying to 'survive', she thought that Snape left her and simply went with James. Now, you might think that Lilly was a Bitch. But that is not the case. What most fail to notice is that Snape was still important to Lilly because he was there for her when her sister betrayed her. She felt the same insecurities towards Snape. She thought he would also leave her. Now, when Snape called her a mudblood in presence to Slytherin students because he was angry that she was walking with James even though James was bullying him. Hearing him calling her with the derogatory word, all her emotions resurfaced. She felt that Snape had betrayed her trust just like her sister and so, didn't give him a chance to explain later. People give different reasons for her marrying James later. I don't know why she married him but my best guess is that she realized that the wizarding world was a dangerous place and as a mudblood, marrying James, a pureblood was her safest bet. So, she might have married him. After all he was courting her for a while and he was not really a bad choice. How was she supposed to know that her child, probably the only person she was truly attached to would lead to her doom. Well, one could say, she had a pitiful life. Not that it mattered to me. ( Finished the character of Lilly and the Cannon snape ref).
"Now that we are becoming friends, why don't we start with our names. My name is Snape. Severus Snape. People close to me call me Sev. Well that only includes my mother… hehe" I said with a smile while acting embarrassed. I did that so that she can feel comfortable talking with me. I had been talking a bit like an adult due to the seriousness of the matter. So, now it was time to act my age. Lilly was startled, maybe because she promised to be my friend for life without knowing my name.
"My.. my name is Lily Evans. I hope we can be good friends Sev." She said embarrassedly at first but then with a big smile on her face. "I hope the same Lilly. Even if the world is not good, we will face the dangers of the world together and reach the very top of the world." "Hehe, you talk funny Sev. Oh, by the way, how did you make that beautiful flower." "You mean this." I asked her raising my left had, which contained the beautiful white Lilly with Lilly in it. (See that, he cupped her with his right hand and left hand was not mentioned earlier because it had the flower. This is the true art of writing with no plotholes. I even remembered the flower and didn't forget it.)
"I made it to cheer you up but now that we are friends,…." I paused and the flower dissipated into thin air. And before Lilly could be sad, a new flower appeared on my hand where both Lilly and I were sitting beside eachother, holding our hands. "It is my first gift as a friend to you. I told you right that if you are a freak, I will be one too. I used magic to make it." I said as I handed the flower over to Lilly. I had a charming smile whle doing this. Well as charming as a smile if a nine year old can get. "Thanks Sev" said Lilly as she ran to me and hugged me. "I am really happy. You are the best-est friend. I will treasure it forever."
"If you are happy then why are you crying??" I asked while tilting my head. "Huh" she was startled. She separated from the hug and placed her hands on her face, only to feel years their. "I don't know why I am crying. Bu … but I am truly happy. And I will definitely give you a beautiful gift to." She said shocked herself at the fact that she was crying and then slightly blushing at the last part. But I got no idea what she was thinking to blush like that. Do nine-year-old kids even blush? I don't really know. Well, who cares? Satisfied with her reaction and her answer, I asked her to sit beside me as I myself sat down. The sun was setting and it was a peaceful and beautiful scene. After, a little while, it was time for us to go back home. We promised to meet each other the next day again at five in the evening and then left to our houses.
It was time to meet my parents…

Woah ! Woah ! Woah !
I wrote a fucking 2110 words. Man how cool is that. It was basically gonna be half of it but then it would have been completely the info dump, with no progress. I personally hate chapters that are info dump, so I decided to post the whole lot. I will post one more chapter this week... probably. Depends on whether I have a motivation which depends highly on comments and reviews. hahahahaha... Just kidding. Honestly I started this story on a whim, but now I like it. I have the ending, but I am writing it on the way and it feels better this way as I am free to proceed with the story. I really hope you comment on the work now as it not only motivates me, it also tells me if I am making mistakes. Don't worry I won't change the story for you. But I can improve on certain aspects like writing style, grammar etc.
