Chapter 273: Class
A heavy hand laden with dark energy slammed onto a table in a fit of rage. Sninkkaakac glared at Arjuna as he leisurely sat on the chair in front of him.
"you found the sacred history of the nightfall archers from a BOOK??? A BOOK????"
Sninkkaakac ran his hands down in disbelief as he looked back at the two perpetrators of his confusion and anguish.
"we nightfall Archers pride ourselves on our secrecy, if there was anything to hide, it would be our origin, but YOU CAN WALK INTO A LIBRARY AND JUST READ IT??????"
Arjuna had a smug grin on his face. Alanis stood in the back cowering under the fury of the gnome master, ducking behind her chair while Arjuna sat in his normally.
"I guess that means we're destined for this job eh?" Arjuna smugly said

Sninkkaakac backed up to Arjuna with a small glare. But his glare softened as he continued to look at the two.
"huh" Sninkkaakac muttered to himself "perhaps you are"
Arjuna with his (attentive ears) skill easily heard what the gnome master was saying and said with surprise.
"wait? really? I thought you were going to just toss us over to another extremely annoying mission"
Sninkkaakac took a deep breath trying to not punch the cheeky brat in front of him.
"Okay, fine maybe, in the beginning, I was trying to get rid of you, after all, a human cannot be a Nightfall Archer. It's been a class-exclusive to elves ever since the beginning of time."
He paused to look at his own hands. The short stubby grey hands filled with calluses from shooting bows for so long.
"but perhaps I shouldn't be the one the enforce that rule, after all, I stand before you as a Nightfall Archer."
Arjuna sat up and swept his black hair back. He looked at Sninkkaakac with a grin.
"Are you actually going to help us then?"
Sninkkaakac eyed both Arjuna and Alanis. Arjuna boldly returned his stare, Alanis cowered underneath it like a mouse under the gaze of a carnivorous cat.
The three of them looked into each other's eyes. Well except for Alanis, she couldn't handle the gaze of the famed Nightfall Archer.
Sninkkaakac was the first to break the mini staredown.
He reached out with his left hand. From a small cupboard two items burst out, black and white energy trailed it.
They neatly flew into the gnome master's hand. From there Arjuna and Alanis could take a good look at them. Alanis's eyes widened with surprise because she had seen those items before. She would never forget them for as long as she lived.
A dark-colored bow with wisps of darkness mystical and heavy slowly falling off of it like mist. The elven decorations of leaves and branches intertwined were placed on the bow, but they were all colored black.
The quiver in his left hand, almost the exact opposite of the bow. A gold and white color constituted the entire color of the quiver, except for a single tree, inscribed on the middle. Instead of the pitch black of the bow, it had a dark green like the color of leaves under shade. The arrows in the quiver seemed like they were just normal high-quality ones, Arjuna looked over them with an appraising eye. Each one was made perfectly, from the sheen of the feathers to the solidness and straightness of the arrows. It was just perfect.
Sninkkaakac grasped both of the items and closed his eyes. Both items in his hands started to radiate light and darkness simultaneously.
Arjuna and Alanis closed or avoided their eyes. As the mix of dark and light energy washed through the little room they were in.
In the archer's guild, a bit of light streamed out of the meeting room that the three of them were in. But nobody seemed to notice and continued on their daily lives of hunting monsters.
Arjuna and Alanis turned back to see a black-cloaked person sitting in the chair in front of them. Though it only covered the person's body, it didn't seem to be made of any material. whips of darkness floated out of it in small trails.
Sninkkaakac raised his hands from the cloak to reveal an armored gauntlet covering his hand. Cold and formidable with a windy green gem engraved into the middle of it.
He looked at Arjuna and Alanis and said seriously
"I'm no longer talking to you as Sninkkaakac of the archery guild, but instead as Tohim the Nightfall Archer"
In front of Arjuna's eyes, the display bar above Sninkkaakac shifted from Sninkkaakac the gnome archer master, to Tohim the Nightfall Archer.
He pulled back his hood to reveal the gnome master's face that Arjuna and Alanis were all too familiar with, but now he looked different, he looked strict, well he was always strict, but he looked at his surroundings indifferently. Like nothing in front of him mattered. When he taught people like Arjuna, though he was strict, it was a form of tough love. He did it so that they could become better. But the Sninkkaakac in front of him was different, much more powerful that was for sure. But kinda scary at the same time.
Sninkkaakac looked at both of them, his eyes no longer shining with the energetic light that seemed to always be in them. He reached out with his hand and focused a part of his energy into his hand, in a swirl of darkness two black orbs were formed around the size of a ping pong ball.
"a nightfall Archer fights in the darkness to protect the light, but remember, light cannot exist without darkness, for without darkness how can one know what light is? Only when one has seen darkness can they truly appreciate the light, in my hands are seeds of darkness. A Nightfall Archer's main weapons are a bow, along with the dark and wind elements. you both have the ability and talent for the bow, but your elemental abilities are lacking, take these seeds and let them grow within you, cultivate them until they can become your weapon to fight off the true enemy."

Arjuna gazed at the two seeds of darkness in the nightfall Archer's armored hand. The seed of darkness, he knew a bit of these "seeds" Boops and Perseus had actually found information about them a while back.
Seeds were a type of item that could be bought in mage towers, they were very expensive around 20 gold. A few rich players were curious about what they could do and bought them. Seeds of any type of element were used as consumables that were used to raise a person's affinity with that type of element. It was a good start to becoming a mage, but aside from it raising a person's affinity with the element and giving a small mp boost. That was really it. Arjuna hadn't heard of cultivating one though.
Arjuna was about to reach his hand out to take the seed of darkness when Alanis suddenly stopped him, grasping his hand.
"wait Arjuna" she said quietly as she turned her head to the Nightfall Archer
"These seeds of darkness, do you know what it means to him if he bears the power of darkness? the lion empire and other nations forbid the use of it! They say it's demonic and evil!"
Tohim the Nightfall Archer stopped and glared angrily at Alanis, with a small amount of murderous intent in his words he said in a snarl
"do not associate darkness with that demonic filth! only ignorant fools say that!"
Alanis turned to Arjuna, her hands trembling and sweat dripping down her face as she whispered nervously to Arjuna.
"if we accept these, many people will think that we are evil!"
Arjuna cocked his head confused as to why Alanis was so careful after getting this far in the Nightfall Archer's succession quest.
"wait, just if they see darkness or dark energy?"
Alanis nodded, her eyes were full of concern for Arjuna, she was fine with she took the darkness seed after all she was already on the run. Hiding was something she had always done. But Arjuna was different, he was human, he had a family that he always talked so fondly about friends in the guild, he had so much to live for. She was different, she was an outcast.
Arjuna stared blankly at Alanis, wondering why she was so concerned about this. He grabbed the seed of darkness in the Nightfall Archer's hand and popped it into his mouth.
He turned back to Alanis who's mouth was left wide open.
"wut?" he asked "I just need to not use the darkness power thingys in front of anyone else"
