Chapter 13: A Royal Challenge Or War (13)
I announced my pregnancy to the family and pack. In our meeting we talked about the need to make a Royal Challenge or declare war to keep the Blood Lust King Ralph from attacking. Michael was stronger than my father but could he be considered enough Royal to take the throne. My father was second in line and I was 3rd. Michael was the strongest Werewolf Snake Hybrid and his Snake was Royal. With me as his Queen we would have a better rule because my Father was already of age for retirement as far as a Royal.
We went back and forth on it. I was happy for my dad to rule. I was happy for Michael to rule. I just wasn't sure my dad could win the fight. It would be a fight to the death with a ruler who had become evil. The Royal could even choose a champion to fight. If my dad challenged him and he chose a champion my dad could die.
I knew Michael could win. His wolf was the biggest I had ever seen and His snake was deadly. I only worried because I was pregnant. My emotions were all over the place. We all decided to go to the council meeting. We would bring our petition before them and they would tell us the recommendations they think we should follow.
The council members listened to my dad . They put their heads together and chatted about the whole thing. In the end they gave in writing the recommendation for a challenge by Michael. He would be the one to fight. They even made the decree and told the King of the challenge. The king had 24 hours to answer the council.
After 24 hours the King replied. He was to fight for himself. He wanted 24 hours and Michael was to report to the council headquarters for the fight. They both could only have one assistant. My dad was to go with Michael. The King would bring his champion. I had Werewolves in position all over the Palace, as well as around the council headquarters and our pack. My dad had his soliders placed around his pack.
Every precaution was used. My siblings and mom would join us in a protected location. The Mamba Royals had sent guards as well. Everyone was in place. Michael and My Dad walked the whole distance checking for Royal Soldiers.
They felt sure something was wrong but no one could see anything out of place. The only way to get a heads up would be the Mambas. They were the Ace in the hole. No one was aware of the snake side of my mate. Not even the council members were aware of this. It was to protect our pack and our family. It was very unexpected, just like a werewolf and a Hybrid werewolf snake mated by the Moon Goddess. We were unexpected mates.
I knew that my Levi was in training but I hadn't seen him in months. I trusted him with his Grandfather Leo. Anastasia was in my lap playing with her sibling in my stomach. I hadn't told anyone my twins secret. I had requested it remain secret. My doctor had agreed. I was so afraid that Ana would reveal my secret because she was able to mind link the twins. She knew that she was going to have 2 more brothers.
My mom was very relieved when she no longer had pups but I loved it. Looking into the eyes of the lil ones we had made in love was such a joy. Watching my mate be an excellent daddy and watching my pup grow was everything to me.
I called the pack office several times. I wanted to know what was happening. I was so nervous about the fight. Our lives would be forever changed. We would be the King and Queen. We would need to make so many changes. I couldn't wrap my mind around it. I can't wait to hear from Michael.
Meanwhile at the council headquarters, "Make way for the King! Make way for the King!", he was announced. The King walked in the room, bowed to the council and immediately switched into his Werewolf. Sebastian was bigger than anyone remembered. His blood lust had given him strength with every murder.
Michael wasn't intimidated by this tactic. He too switched as he gave this over to Luther. However, Luther wasn't alone. He was joined for the first time ever by his Mamba Gunther. Gunther was huge and made Luther appear twice a large. They looked bigger than any bear. Much bigger than the king.
My dad announced him, "Michael Brown from the South African Werewolf Pack as well as the Royal Mambas of South Africa." Everyone was looking over at Michael's wolf snake. No one had ever seen this before and didn't know what to expect. The King lunged for Luther but the agility of Gunther moved him faster than even a Vampire could transport.
The king was nervous and he called out to his champion. He was trying to cheat but Luther and Gunther were ready. Gunther did a mind link on the champion and he was like a child. He just sat still watching. The King kept trying. He was doing everything he could to cheat. He had silver on his teeth. Silver would do nothing to Luther because of Gunther. The king hit Luther's body, his fist bounced off like nothing. Ralph lunged over and over hitting Luther with no effect.
Gunther formed his fangs on Luther, it was the first time anyone had seen Wolffangs. This would make any bite deadly. Luther jumped at the King biting him on his shoulder. The King didn't know that he was as good as dead so he followed Luther in circles. The King shook his head trying hard to focus. He spoke with a gasping voice, "What ..... have ..... you..... done....?" Then it was over. The venom made Sebastian feel like his blood was boiling. Every vein felt like fire. Then King was dead, his eyes rolled back in his head with the pain on his face.
Michael had won. He was King. The council members announced his win and told the champion that the palace would be taken over immediately. He was to return to the palace and inform the Kings wife. She had 24 hours to vacate.
Michael called me first thing, "Bri, Pikkewyn (penguin), It's over. We won!" I could only cry. My mom took the phone. She listened to all the details and announced it to all involved. War had been avoided, peace had been restored and Michael was King.
