Chapter 8: Chapter 8
I took the back seat in car and watched my parents talk happily. I smiled too . Sometimes, dad asked me a few questions. They both were cheerful and I didn't want to interrupt.
All , I wanted was to see the smile in both of their faces because it had been a long time since both of them talked to each other
"So how did you like the park?", dad asked me.
"It was....", I found it difficult to explain.
"I understand. You don't have to explain. The sky is expressing your feelings", dad said and mom smiled
I looked at the sky I didn't want to control my emotions or the sky because I wanted everyone to see that I was happy.
Finally we reached the restaurant before even knowing it.
I changed to Zach again because I started feeling uncomfortable. It happened sometimes. I couldn't stay in one gender for a long time .
As soon as I entered, the restaurant all eyes were upon us.
A girl whispered,"Isn't that Zacharius Maverick?"
"Yes , he looks like him" someone else whispered.
"Someone is getting famous", dad murmured.
I looked at him . I thought that he would be angry but instead his expression was happy.
You must be wondering what I did to become famous, right?
Well , mostly all saviours are .
If you don't know what you saviours are , Saviours are the group of superhumans that save people in danger .
We, Saviours try to keep the world in one piece while the Nutellions try to break it apart.
That's why the Nutellions hate the Saviours because we interfere their business.
I looked around me . It would have been better if another superhuman or savior were present . Then, the people would have had someone else to look at.
I am kidding. I liked being famous but not all humans trusted me since, both my sisters were Nutellions they didn't want to believe that I was a Saviour.
Anyway, it didn't matter because saving people was my job. I had to do it.
Dad ordered sushi for me and Chinese chowmein for mom and himself.
A small girl came up to me and said,"Zacharius, I am great fan of you"
"And can I get an autograph?" she said
She was cute.
She gave me a pen and a paper and signed it .
"I love how you change your gender" she said.
"You do? I love that too" I said .
"Can you show me once?" she said.
I didn't want to because I didn't want all eyes to be in me when I am eating.
"Ok" I said.
Someone screamed with excitement from behind.
"Zach is doing his gender fluid thing"
I looked back .
Everyone was looking at me .
So I did.
I didn't have to concentrate and I changed into Abigail .
The little girl's eyes were bright with excitement.
"Do it again", she said excitedly.
And I did again.
She made me do it five times at least.
And when I was done everyone burst into cheers and clapped.
"Thanks", I said.
I felt more like a magician than a superhuman.
I didn't know what I thanked them for.
I guess it was for the cheers and clapping.
Anyway, I was hungry and started eating.
I was more hungry when it was sushi.
Mom saw me digging into the food energetically and said,"Relax, Zach we don't have anywhere to go . Take your time and eat".
I didn't answer because I was busy eating.
Dad interrupted,"So, that's why you like being gender fluid?"
I looked at him.
"Because you are famous and everyone likes your power,right?",dad said.
"Yeah", I said.
"That's great . So , I assume you are doing great with your Saviour thing", dad said.
There was an awkward silence between us because I didn't Know how to reply . Dad didn't like me being 'Saviour' because I always ran after dangers where the Nutellions were involved and I didn't want to argue about that and destroy everyone's festive mood.
This topic was a common subject of argument. I kept quiet for some time and continued eating.
Mom broke the silence by asking me,"Do you need any more sushi?"
"No", I said.
Dad looked at me still waiting for the answer .
Our eyes locked at each other for some time.
Then I looked at the watch and said," It's nearly 9:30. How long does this restaurant stay open?"
"Um... till midnight", dad said.
"I think we should go home", he added.
"Yeah", mom replied.
We finished our meal and was going to leave.
The little girl who had asked for my autograph said,"Bye oppa"
I was drinking water then I coughed . Mom rubbed my shoulder.
"You Know what 'oppa 'means"?, I asked her.
"Yes. Oppa means boyfriend or older brother but I mean it more as older brother. No worries", she said.
Thank God !At least she loved me as her brother because more or less everyone used to think that I was a boy and I guess I was handsome and I liked acting like a boy.
(When I am Melis' boyfriend, especially).
"God, this is awkward", mom said.
Dad wasn't listening. He said," You wait outside . I'll be back within a few minutes from the washroom."
I said," okay" and waited outside with mom. The little girl waved at me energetically.
I waved her back.
