Chapter 31: Power Surge
The creature walked slowly in his direction. The green light of the star reflected in its eyes and created a halo on its fur. It was looking around as it walked forward. It was searching for Kyle.
A cool head was needed in even the direst situations. Kyle thought about everything that happened. He wondered why the creature ignored him earlier but now was relentless in pursuit.
It took a few moments, but he remembered the bug from earlier. The stench from it was still there. Even using the talisman to block all of his scents; he realized the bug's stench lingered.
Kyle went to his equipment screen and unequipped the glove. It was stored in the game's storage system.
When the glove disappeared, the creature became agitated. The smell it was tracking nearly disappeared. There was still a faint smell, but it was even harder to find its prey.
Kyle immediately noticed how the creature seemed confused and slowed its search. It didn't stop looking for him; which meant either the scent wasn't gone, or it was stubborn.
Realizing there might be more of the bug's stench; Kyle unequipped everything except for the invisibility cloak. He was currently naked under the cloak, so he equipped his workout clothes.
The funny thing was when he fully unequipped; he felt stronger. When he put his workout clothes on; he felt normal. He checked his stats, and he was still a Lvl 10 Fighter.
He once more unequipped everything and checked his stats. He was shocked as he watched his stats shoot up!
The new stats when it finally stopped was a Lvl 20 fighter. He couldn't believe it, he was actually almost as strong as that creature! There was only one level of difference between them.
What was he going to do, fight naked? He understood the reason for the difference in his strength was because of the strength restricting equipment Mr. Khanda forced him to wear at all times.
The equipment was built into most of his clothes by Mr. Davenport and Lady Galgaba.
Now that it was removed he was twice as strong as normal. Would it be enough to win against or escape from the creature?
Yeah, but he didn't want to fight naked. He especially didn't want to streak through the forest. There was no telling who was watching.
Unknown to Kyle at that time, the yellow girl was peering through some bushes. The earth explosion even reached her and caused her to fly into some bushes. Luckily, no one noticed her.
When she saw the creature heading in her general direction; she was worried the creature was looking for her. The reason for this was because she didn't see that boy from earlier.
Kyle searched through his inventory and his bags of holding looking for something he could wear. Finally, he found some pajamas. He put them on and his strength remained at Lvl 20.
He had his mask, the cloak, and his pajamas on under the cloak. Now, should he move? It depended on the creature. Kyle looked at it to see what it would do.
The creature was once again puzzled. The scent completely vanished now, but was this just a stupid beast that only relied on its sense of smell?
The creature continued looking. It was pretty sure its prey was still around. Nothing moved since it came over to this area. The only thing that happened was the smell disappeared.
"Hey, you Bobbies, do you know what happened to my lunch?" The creature asked in the beast language.
Chris came out, he was one of the bravest Bobbies and normally he and the Kang Ape got along.
"Hey, Jeff, I think it's over in that pile of trees." It pointed exactly at Kyle's hiding place.
"Thanks, Chris," Jeff said to his Bobbie friend.
It turned its attention back to where Chris pointed and slowly walked forward. It was scanning the area and looking for the slightest sign of his prey making a break for it.
Kyle was following everything and realized the creatures were communicating in some kind of language.
He knew enough about animals that their communication was very short and was usually just grunts, growls, howls, and whimpering. What these creatures were doing was a lot more complex.
There were plenty of sentient beasts on Earth. They were created either through science, mysterious mutations, or magic.
He learned in class how to distinguish between stupid beasts and beasts with intelligence similar to humans. This creature and the Bobbies were clearly intelligent.
"I guess I don't have a choice. Let's see how I do against a level 21 beast," he said to himself.
Kyle burst out of the debris and deactivated his cloak. He would have liked to fight in his super-suit.
It would give him a lot of protection, but if he did that he would only be able to fight at half-strength.
To Jeff and the Bobbies, his outfit would look strange no matter what he wore. Fighting in his pajamas, mask and a hooded coat didn't seem any weirder.
Kyle, on the other hand, felt very weird. His abrupt explosive move startled Jeff and the Bobbies who came out to spectate the hunt.
The yellow girl saw him burst out of the debris. She was so shocked that she fell on her rear. She got back up and crawled back to her spot and watched the action.
Now, Jeff and the Bobbies realized they were facing a cornered animal. Kyle noticed that when he took off his clothes; his broken leg began to heal very quickly. It was now completely healed.
Apparently the armor that suppressed his strength also suppressed his healing ability. Kyle didn't wait for Jeff to attack; he dashed forward at his fastest speed.
He was really fast, to Jeff and the Bobbies it looked like a little blurry streak was heading to Jeff. This sudden dash intimidated Jeff.
Just like a lot of humans having a really small animal dash at them fearlessly could intimidate them.
Jeff started running from Kyle as he continued chasing.
"See, Felix, what did I say? Stay away from the weird two-legger. It looks like it's gone rabid or something," Chris said to his friend who was standing next to him watching Kyle chase the giant Jeff.
"Yeah, you called it, Chris." Felix was really impressed by Chris's smartness.
"Hey, why am I running, my lunch is really tiny. I shouldn't run from something so small," Jeff suddenly realized.
He stopped and turned around and was about to roar to intimidate Kyle. Just as it was about to roar, Kyle ran up its leg and was running up toward its head.
This really freaked it out as it started dancing around shaking its body and trying to brush Kyle off its body.
"Oh, oh, oh ooh ooh ooh, get off, off, what are you doing? Stop it, get off, help! Someone, get this thing off!" Jeff yelled as he continued dancing around. It felt so weird having something run up its body.
Kyle was really well trained over the last three weeks and he was able to dodge all of the attempts to brush him off. This was even freakier to Jeff.
Kyle finally got close enough to Jeff's head and swung his fist up and connected with Jeff's head. Jeff's head was hit so hard it snapped back and he was knocked off his feet falling backward.
Of course, Kyle didn't do much better. His punch was really powerful, but he forgot to take into account the counterforce to his punch.
The result was him flying straight down in the opposite direction of his punch and smashing into the ground below.
He was stunned for a moment. "Curse you Physics!" he yelled.
