Chapter 32: Though I Walk Through the Valley of the Shadow of Jeff

After shaking his head a couple of times, Kyle jumped out of his human-shaped hole in the ground. Jeff was sitting up at the same time. He could feel his jaw was broken.

Since all of Kyle's force was focused in such a small place; he pierced through Jeff's tough skin and jawbone.

Jeff's jaw really hurt. It was like getting bitten by a creature with really sharp teeth and powerful jaws.

Although the broken jaw was broken in a very tiny part; he was lucky Kyle didn't hit at a better angle or he could have pierced through his head and killed him.

Jeff spit out some blood as he looked at the small two-legged creature who looked like it was ready for more.

Kyle looked at Jeff defiantly and then scanned the Bobbies around him. Suddenly, a pair of gloves appeared on his hands.

Kyle wanted to test if his gloves would weaken him; his level dropped to level 18. However, he had the benefit of being able to use distribution.

He realized there was a challenge for him fighting such a large creature. When he punched, his force would only generate from the size of his fist.

Even though this meant he would be able to punch through the creature without much of a problem; the piercing would be very tiny.

It wouldn't have much of an effect on a large enemy like Jeff. Sure, he could knock Jeff on his back and break his jaw. Still, Jeff wasn't injured much by this punch.

If he wanted to really hurt the large creature, he would need to distribute the force of his punch over a wider area.

Kyle scanned Jeff's large hands and adjusted the distribution to be a little smaller than Jeff's punching area.

This would give him the best benefit while he was punching. He only wishes he had a similar effect on his feet.

He realized he needed to create a pair of boots with the distribution effect.

Kyle rushed forward once more and used his Monkey King Rock Fist to throw a punch at Jeff.

The stunned Jeff threw up his hand to try and block, but Kyle was too fast and agile. He slipped through Jeff's defensive move easily.

This time, Kyle hit Jeff in his solar plexus knocking the wind out of him. Kyle also accounted for the counter-force and prepared for the recoil from the punch.

He was only pushed a few feet back this time.

Jeff collapsed on the ground and gasped for air. He curled into a ball, but instead of giving up on pursuing his lunch; his eyes turned red.

He was really mad now. Kyle felt a difference in the creature. Jeff swung a fist out as its other arm was still curled around his chest.

Kyle had the good sense to back off from the creature. He wanted to see what it would do next. Its response surprised him. A small version of Jeff, not much bigger than Kyle arose from the ground.

The ground compressed more and more until the creature finally came to life. Big Jeff laid in a heap on the ground, Dirty Jeff, as the Bobbies called the mini-Jeff, roared, and rushed toward Kyle.

Now, Kyle was freaked out. His HUD told him the mini-Jeff was at level 19. It was still one level higher than Kyle, but now it was about the same size as him.

He got over being freaked out and rushed forward. Kyle unequipped the gloves and his level returned to 20.

He didn't need the gloves to fight mini-Jeff. Kyle and mini-Jeff rushed toward one another and struck out. Jeff had a much longer reach and connected with Kyle first.

Kyle was blown back by the blow. It was so hard that he smashed into the hill behind him. It was his turn to have the breath knocked out of him.

He stumbled out of the hill and mini-Jeff was already there and swung down with both of its fists. The hit slammed him into the ground. Mini-Jeff didn't stop there.

He started pummeling Kyle like his hands were a pair of Gatling guns. Kyle didn't even have a chance to think as he was being brutally assaulted by mini-Jeff.

The yellow girl watched all of this and finally decided Kyle was going to lose. This was a good opportunity for her to slip away.

It wasn't that she didn't want to help him; it was just that she didn't want to get killed. She quickly snuck away and headed off to wherever she thought she could be safe.

Poor Kyle was still being pummeled. He instinctively rolled out of the way and put some distance between him and mini-Jeff.

He had never been manhandled like that in his life. He was dizzy and unsteady on his feet, but after less than a minute, his body felt as strong as ever.

He was surprised. When he looked at his health stat it had a full bar. His spirit energy bar was two-thirds full.

It wasn't clear what was using up his spirit energy or how much his spirit energy healed him. Alternatively, when he looked at mini_Jeff, his health bar was full, but another bar that wasn't spirit energy but something else was decreasing visibly even just standing there.

Next, he looked at big-Jeff whose health was only two-thirds filled but who only had one-third of his spirit energy left. He was slowly healing too.

"It looks like the mini-creature will only last for as long as that bar has energy. It will fall apart on its own unless the big creature supplies it with more energy." Kyle thought to himself. He realized he couldn't give the creature time to heal.

Looking around, Kyle quickly put together a plan. He started by rushing around mini-Jeff and making hand-signs as he dodged its punches. Kyle was still much faster than even mini-Jeff.

The strange thing was Kyle was throwing different things at mini-Jeff. Some of the items were little gems, and some of the items were bits of metal and minerals.

He even pulled out a smithing hammer and would hit mini-Jeff from time to time in specific places.

He also put a few metallic stakes in the ground; and continued sending out array symbols into the area within the circle of spikes and mini-Jeff.

Then, Kyle ran once more toward big-Jeff. Mini-Jeff tried to follow but a dome of energy formed around it. Its energy was bound within the circle and its body was changing.

Big-Jeff couldn't see this, but he did feel like something strange was happening to his earth avatar.

As he ran toward big-Jeff, Kyle made a line of metal spikes. He threw one down every nine feet. He then made a number of hand signs and an array fell onto big-Jeff's body.

Big-Jeff didn't feel like it did anything, but he was still having trouble moving. He was healing and if he stopped healing to fight Kyle; not only would he stop healing, his gains would steadily decline.

However, he could tell this lunch was very clever. He finally stopped healing and got up to engage in battle once more. It sent out a technique called "the valley of Jeff."

Two large walls of earth rose from the ground on each side of Kyle. The purpose was to slowly crash the creature trapped in his 'valley.'

Kyle looked at the creature and cried out, "That's not going to stop me!"
